  1. yep thats some good work there! makes me wish i stuck with mine now, just get it finished!!!
  2. ive decided to dust off all the old CDs recently, mostly listening to Blur, Oasis, Placebo, Leftfield and The Rolling Stones. Top Tunes!!!
  3. pretty sure this would work well... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165469 if you used it to put pressure onto the top of the TRE so you can undo the nut easily then donk it with a hammer and it should pop out. otherwise use the same tool to seperate it, or even better use one of these... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165469 and put it between the TRE and the carrier housing and it'll deffo pop out.... lube and heat never go amiss either, but watch out you dont frazzle your CV boots or anything!
  4. i have the same problem on my G60 at the moment, where it hasnt been touched for 2 years now, they get stuck and run slowly, im sure its down to the grease as said above.
  5. dont think the irwins will touch it, its litterally just a screw head, so theres nothing to bite onto. it'll be a b*tch of a job if you round that head off! when i had the same problem as you, i ended up just pulling the plastic bracket apart, using brute force screwdriver etc, to remove the headlight then fabricated a bracket and put it all back fitting an upright bolt through the headlight bracket and fixed it onto the metal bracket on the car with a nut, until i could get a decent headlight.
  6. make sure your screwdriver has the right sized head on it too, last thing you want is to munch the head up. When you are undoing it put lots of downward pressure on the screwdriver so it doesnt pop out of the screwhead. and as above lots of lube.
  7. just get it sent royal mail special delivery for £20? surely thats the easiest ? pretty sure a Charger isnt over 10Kg?
  8. agree with the above, all it really is is another trim level...a GTi 'sport' so to speak. Pointless, and why can they make a Passat R36 which there is hardly any market for and yet they cant make an R36 'rocco or Golf ? where was the market research in that one? same place as the the phaeton, not existant :cuckoo: maybe i should become head of market research for VW, I'll be a lot cheaper than what they are paying at the moment, and with that extra money can bring back VW from the state its in at the moment, by putting good, desirable cars back on the roads that have a bit of soul... :?
  9. if you break it, what are you going to sell ? and how long are you going to spend with it in bits until you've made your money? i would have thought it would be easier to sell it as a whole and let someone else deal with it, but if you have the time/space and there are enough bits on there to make money off of then break it. i'd go round see what bits are good and sale-able and use the other 'breaking' threads as a refernce for prices and factor in your time and space to see if its really worth the extra effort. Thats my opinion anyway :salute:
  10. thats sad, no more V6's, question is what will insire someone to buy an 'R20' when all it is is a beefed up GTi? i'd rather go buy a normal Gti mk6 and build my own better version which would probably be cheaper in the ££££ per HP stakes. VW has become very boring and is losing the plot and its heritage. There is nothing in the current range of VW's that i would buy if i had £30k to spend, i'd be more tempted to go elsewhere, maybe to BMW or even a ford to get some thrills :ignore:
  11. its only a kit car though, i'd rather spend my hard earned on an original Gt500, not a standard mustang that someones 'done-up' even it it has cost them £££££ to do, its no better than the MR2 based ferrari 355s :?
  12. cool, thanks for that...suppose i should put it back on while im messing about in there!
  13. can somebody please tell me what this is ? i removed it from inside my drivers door when i was fiddling about with a dodgy regulator earlier... P/N 535 837 323 looks like some sort of covering...just wondered if its important ? doesnt seem to show up on vagcat  MODS: sorry if its in the wrong section!
  14. well i cant say ive had any problems with my draper expert kit, its helped metake over half of my corrado to bits and put it all back together again, which is more than i can say for the halfords professional range, which didnt last very long at all...
  15. I also had the same problem with my 'Pro' ratchet it doesnt cover mechanical or moving parts...so whats the point??? yet they'll take it back if it looks a bit grubby!! I Dont trust anything from halfords now, my missus got me a 6 drawer tool chest, lock didnt work (couldnt open it/close it), took it back to the store told them it was faulty, they fiddled with it for 10 minutes got it working for a bit then it broke again, they fixed it again...I told them it was fault and they said NO!! so if it only opens/closes when it wants to that means its in good working condition?? Bunch of To$$ers...Draper or sealey for me everytime :bad-words:
  16. perfect, just what im after, hopefully they will cover my R32 project, or maybe its a bit too modified?? :confused4:
  17. just to say i have just insured my VR6 with chris knott...over £75 cheaper than what HIC wanted and any of the other companies. £487.99 fully comp! fantastic, hopefully they will serve me well, IF i ever need to claim...
  18. when i did mine i undone the engine mounts jacked the engine up and removed and refitted the wishbone....then a few weeks later took the sump off anyway for a big oil change and to pick up some bits of the old tensioner thats were washing around the sump....
  19. common part that breaks, did the same on mine. i THINK one side is still available, not sure which though, thats what the vag man told me, after i had one for each side :)
  20. agreed, this is the way forward....thats how to really care for your car. keep up the good work.
  21. just get a dark burgundy pearl G60, mush better colour than blackberry!!! :ignore:
  22. mine personally sounds like heavy duty rubber being squashed/pulled/twisted....
  23. no i dont think its wheel bearings, thats if it is the same sound as mine, which it sounds like.
  24. so does mine, im putting it down to crap wishbone bushes, i made the mistake of buying them already pressed into new wishbones from vwspares.com or wherever it was and they like to make rubbery creaking noises when the wishbones move around at low speeds and when pulling off. ill get round to fitting decent VAG ones sometime in the near future!
