  1. wheels look good, where did you get the BBS centre caps from ? how you getting on with the tyres >?
  2. fitting it is easy, but i took my whole sunroof apart and rebuilt mine from scratch, with new everything nearly. you need to take the sunroof panel out and pull the old seal off and then press the new one on (they are quite tight). basically pull the interior sunroof panel back so you can get access to the metal panel, then undo the 4 bolts holding the panel on (think they are those nasty star shaped heads) lleft the panel out, remove old seal fit new one, and refit. Im sure theres a guide somewhere for refitting, as it can be a bit of a tight fit with a new seal, failing that, its all in the bentley manual.
  3. bah! no one from VWspares is answering my calls or my email! do you think i could phone stealth and see if they have one they could post to me ?
  4. im in desperate need for a sump gasket for my VR6 anybody know if there are any differences, as there appear to be different part numbers for a VR6 gasket? VW man told me they are on back order! and i need one for the weekend!!
  5. hehe, i went down to chichester a few nights ago, left my light on, went to the pub went to watch 'The happening' at the cinema, went back to the pub, back to the car...'oh Sh*t!' got in, started fine couldnt belive it! dont need no buzzer if it keeps going like that!
  6. thats bad mate, But ill say it so a mod cant, wrong section...
  7. cool so ill just use the original rears with the original koni springs and use the front knois with KW springs. the one on the left is the same as the one in the middle, except for a different diameter spring, which wont make any difference if i use the original springs.
  8. could i not use the koni springs that are in the shocks (the originals) in the rears and run the KWs in the fronts? or would that be a bad idea?
  9. so what you are trying to say is that they aint Koni VR6 rear shocks? great. im off to buy another set then!
  10. yeah there is a step on my Koni's but the bottom 'ring' on the spring isnt wide enough o fit around it, it just sits ontop of it :? anyhow here is a pic of the setup, from left to right:- old rear shock with original koni spring in it, all fits nice and snug, middle: rear shock with KW spring on it, spring doesnt sit in step, therefore will jiggle about when under load (cant be right!) right: front koni with KW sring all looks nice fits like a glove. 11. they are deffo the rears! just been peed off by VW, ordered a load of bits from them, costing over £250 last week, went there earlier, oh sorry we forgot to put the order through! Cheers VW you have just F*cked up my weekend!
  12. im in the process of building up my Koni T/As with KW springs, on my VR6, im stuck on the rears, i take it i just have to replace the current Koni springs which are on the shock absorbers with the KW ones? the reason i ask is that the KW springs dont fit where the Koni springs used to? pic below: springs.JPG[/attachment:1wvkm8pg] *note the gap between where the old koni spring sits and where the new KW s, the KW actually its on top of the adjustment ring which makes me think it needs a plate in there? have i got the springs the wrong way round and do i need to fit a plate in there instead ?
  13. i have weitec coilovers on my G60 and think that they are really good, not crashy at all, forgotten which ones they are. they are height adjustable but not damping. cost around £500 iirc
  14. well, coming from somebody who owns both a G60 and a Vr6, i'd say go for the VR. you wont go back...
  15. and they should be told that you dont need foglights on unless its, well, foggy!
  16. lovely cars, i walk past one every morning at work and keep looking at it closer and closer, one day ill be in it! 3.0TDi with massive wheels! also seen a white S5, and that looked really nice....
  17. TBH i wouldnt spend silly money on a respray for a daily driver, mine is only for use at weekends at it is a 2nd car (got the VR6 as a daily) i have easily spent over £20k on the G60 at the moment and its not even finished. My objective with it was to do everything once and dso it right, hence not wanting to get a cheap respray which would need doing again in a few years if the filler/ paint started to look dodgy. If i were you i'd find somewhere that would do the job for no more than £2500. that seems to be the going rate for a 'normal' respray these days...
  18. its all about how the car is finished, dont want to start a war or anything but cheap resprays usually consist of filling all the dent with cheapo filler which will sink/crack in a few years and the job will need doing again. also i had the car de-orangepeeled and the paint is like glass. looks better than new and will stay that way for as long as i can keep it away from tesco's carparks!
  19. could be worse, mine was even more...£6500!
  20. thanks for the top info! going to get stuck into this after i come back from holiday!
  21. im also going to be doing this job sometime in the near future, so BUMP!
  22. VR is ok, got its MOT coming up in july, so ill be sending it over for a few jobs sometime soon, such as: Fitting my Koni's fitting new front wishbones new disks and pads all round checking that nothing has fallen off/broken since we last had a look over her should provide you with some beer money!
  23. right, little update for you guys to show i havent been too lazy, ive soundproofed the interior, and ive installed most of the the new panels, next job to do is take the rear beam off get that sorted out, shotblasted, powdercoated and refitted with new MK4 calipers and my flash new 280mm disks, new handbrake cables, bushes and rear ARB, and the same deal with the front suspension. Then its just a case of fitting the rest of the interior, carpet and ICE. New copper brake lines, and slotting the engine and gearbox in, and getting her mapped on the DTA. So im nearly there, chance of me making it to E38 in it this year? 35% anyway heres some pics:
