For those with Brembo's fitted.....can you use G60 carriers?
G60SC_Stoney replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Drivetrain
you have to go to badger5 and buy a set of carriers from him. i think its something like www.badger5.demon.co.uk and he is on holiday until tommorrow, when he will be sending my things through. Dont forget you also need the hoses and bolts etc.... -
just done this on mine, replaced EVERYTHING on that page, ill dig out the receipt sometime but from memory it was just short of £300 all in. plus some other choice goodies...

im fitting some Brembo 4 Pots off a Seat Cupra (305mm disks) onto the front of my G60, and i want to use Goodridge braided hoses, any idea if the Corrado G60 ones fit onto the Brembos or do i have to get a special kit/adapter?

just off to fit mine now. wouldnt be surprised if theres a buzzing sort of noise, but wont matter too much, as my Toyo R888s make a buzzing noise anyway, makes the car sound like its got my old supercharger back on it. just wondering how long non vag wheel bearings will last....
-
doing this on my purple one at the moment, you just need to buy some 2nd hand 2wd MK4 golf calipers they are all the same i believe, and some nice brake pads to fit, Ferodo DS2500 are the best it seems....

22mm external drive socket for top mounts?
G60SC_Stoney replied to boost monkey's topic in Drivetrain
the ones on my VR were seized solid, tried everything to remove them, ended up angle grinding around the centre nut and removing them that way.... -
Anyone purchased the ARZ Tuning 'chrome' Corrado badge?
G60SC_Stoney replied to Leonard's topic in Exterior
i bought one...and sold it. looked a bit cheap TBH. i wouldnt bother -
yeah fixed this problem now, it was the correct bush for the job, just needed a bit more effort to get it in...

before we go any further, yes i am fitting polybushes to the rear axle of my Corrado, and this isnt a discussion whether they are better or worse than standard VAG ones. Now, ive come to fit the bushes to the rear axle of the G60, and i cut/drilled the old rubber ones out cleaned the holes, lubed up the powerflex bushes and fitted them in (without the steel insert, as the box tells you to) and i DID need to press them in, which was quite concerning as reading other posts suggested they were a 'easy push in by hand job' but they did go in all all looked good. Until i went to fit the steel sleeves inside them, they go in about halfway and really dont want to go any further, and the hole in the bush that the sleeve fits in looks like its not supposed to take something that large :camp: the box said they were golf 2/3 4 stud rear axle bushes (same as corrado G60 ones) but im thinking the bushes may be in the wrong box?? are the VR6 ones larger or aere they all the same?? I dont really want to take these bushes out and buy another set only to find they are the same ones again and im just being a numpty...so any ideas ?

well you know that engine you had in the back of your car a while back, that you were going to put in your corrado? well im going to be doing the same, unless i can find an R36 engine and get it over here for less than £3k...
-
agreed, mine sounded like a pig last week, checked the oil and it was on minimum, topped it back up...sweet as a nut!
-
Replaced PCV and FPR on VR6. What a difference.
G60SC_Stoney replied to aclwalker's topic in Engine Bay
agree with the above, we really need some sort of easy checklist to sort these problems out. My VR is running a bit dodgy and from what ive read, i need to replace the MAF, but nowe it looks as though i may as well replace the FPR as well. oh and give it an oil change, plug change and basically give it a good service, oh dear.... :pale: -
no i havent, but i figure they will fit on, dont know if i had pics in this thread, but they stuck out about 20mm either side with 20mm hub adapters, so they should in theory be the same as running standard size 301s, i.e they wont stick out past the arches.
-
you dont mess about do you!
-
yeah i know the R36 probably will be old hat by the time i come to put it in. Hopefully it'll be driving by the end of this year. just taken on more hours at work starting at 4am and finishing at 6pm, so ill have the money to finish it, just not the time! as for soundproofing, theres not that much on it TBH probably weighed about 10Kg all rolled up, but ive got a really high quality carpet in there, which is like Bentley quality, really nice, so should soak up some sound as well as feel really nice and deep! :camp:
-
oh and a quick update, after a few beers ive decided to go for an R36 engine...dont know if its possible, but dont really care, as ill be giving the work to someone else to do! too many R32's around. got to keep ahead of the pack!
-
so go wider rims ;) already done that to one set of my BBS 301s... 8)
-
ive got some G60 wheel hubs that are drilled to 5x100, so i dont need to use adapters, which will give me an extra 20mm clearance each side. think you can get them from eurospec or someone? might be BBM?
-
yeah long gone, thank god! ended up leaving all that down at Gwerks for Darren to sell on, give me the OEM stuff any day of the week!
-
yeah no worries mate :D
-
and at the end of the day it's your 6.5k that you have earnt. exactly
-
yeah £6500, and yes it is more than the cars worth, but then you can say that about most of the cars on the forum, i.e supercharger £1500, suspension £800, wheels £800, exhaust £600...need i go on? and at the end of the day, the car will have been fully restored, down to practically every nut and bolt, new everything. the new 'rocco is 2nd hand compared to my corrado!
-
yeah apparently its a pain in the ass. even more so getting them back in!
