i would have expected more from an S3, especially with all the modern technology. kind of makes you appreciate the old VWs, and shows how things have changed over the years...
-
it was a pretty good replica of an S3 then, im sure it was an S3, everything was standard S3, not 1.8 20vt turned into an S3.
-
it's a supercharged and cam'd vr too.
-
so do i, although its quiet hard to get 120Mph out of a royal mail bicycle...
-
i'd be interested in one of these too, one of the old connectors popped off my old uprated loom and flattened the battery, so OE connectors would be fantastic.

went up to guildford VW Garage earlier in my Golf, and had a little race with a Lexus GS430 on a 51 plate, up the A3, to my surprise there wasnt much in it, but he did have the edge over me as the VR6 slowed down acceleration wise after about 120 ish while he just carried on. those things must be good engines although i bet he still wasnt getting 25MPG on the MFA, hehe (i know they are not honest readouts tho). Then, on the way back from the garage, again on the A3, just as i pulled into the slip road to come off at Brook, a silver S3 pulls across and is in front of me, as we come off the A3 and along the long straight lane into Brook/Milford, suddenly he puts his foot down and obviously wanted a little race, thought i'd take him up on the offer, and put my foot down, stupid me did it in 2nd gear and just smoked the tyres until somewhere in 3rd gear. but after i gained traction i was off and chasing him, looked like i was catching up too, if i had 4WD or any driving skills i would have had him, right ? It surprised me how slow those S3's are, i mean, their fast but i would have thought they would have more in them than what this one did?

hehe, im getting about 30MPG out of my charged and cam'd vr6!! puts my G60 to shame, i get about 200miles out of 12gallons of petrol out of the G60!

at the bottom in the drop down menu, select 'Großbritannien'

make him pay to get it sorted, wouldnt have been so bad if he actually said sorry and wasnt such a Sh*t. teach him a lesson-bash it with a hammer and get a whole new bumper etc.

dont laugh, not funny. im going to be pulling the whole car apart in a few weeks and the last thing i wanted was for something going wrong before ive even started!

Let me tell you a story.... I just replaced my Battery Friday with an Optima yellow top, due to the old one being flat (from what i thought was lack of use, due to having the VR6 to drive) , and the alarm setting itself off and waking everyone up at 2am . but unfortunatly wasnt due to lack of use at all, because it went off at midnight last night (after i fitted the new battery). Anyway i took it for a drive into the middle of Nowhere to stop waking the neighbours and figure out what was wrong. turns out headlight didnt work either, so driving around with only my foglights on, and a completly iced up windscreen (leaning out of Drivers window Ace Ventura stylee) i managed to get it away and into the middle of the local common (with the alarm still going off!) and pull the bonnet (which has a broken cable-so REALLY had to yank the cable with my bare hands--which is now completly broken) to look at what the cause could be, after fumbling around in the pitch black i decided to look at the uprated headlight loom, which turns out had a knackered relay and must have been discharging the battery all the time. and setting the alarm off. After pulling the uprated loom off the car in the dark and recconnecting the original loom, all was working fine (if a bit darker), but just to check that it wasnt going to go off again, i locked the car and waited an hour to see if the alarm was going to go off again. All was well so drove home and got back into bed at about 3.30 this morning. what a night! think ill just be leaving the headlights alone from now on.....

bought an optima yellow top to replace my battery a few days ago, fantastic batteries but not cheap. about £150. but have a very good rep. they hold their charge for longer as well, which is good if you dont use the car frequently, like me.
-
i think they work differently, im sure the 1.8 16v has a speedo cable, whereas the G60 is electronic. so no they wont work.
-
this would be quality!! we could fill up a ferry and drive over, surely?

im running these on my G60 at the moment in 205/40/17 form, they are REALLY sticky. was having a play with a ford Cougar and hitting the brakes and going round a tight corner has never been safer! they stick like sh*t. nebver known anything like em, way better than Proxes T1s etc. mine should last a while too, as the corrado will be my weekend car soon, when the 2.016vG60 goes in. reccommended to anyone who wants the best around.
-
i was running 65mm pulley and on std injectors too.
-
i think superchargers were suited to diesel engines due to the way power is delivered, diesels have more low down power than petrols and not much at the top end, hench why a turbo is used in place of a supercharger, (to create a wider powerband) correct? or am i talking balls?
-
will make an enquiry about this. done a quick search and optimas come up a lot.
-
i know its not a massive distance, but i'd rather get one nearer too me as im lazy and cant be arsed to drive miles to pick up a battery! guildfords far enough from me and thats 18miles!
-
costco's are all up north though, so i'd have to get it elsewhere, (nearest one to me is Reading)
-
how much was it and which one ?
-
i need something that will be good enough to run the car easily, and that wont go dead. im a firm believer that you get what you pay for, so ive set myself te budget and want to keep to it....although if there are no better alternatives then it will have to be that one, is a bosch one after all so should be high quaility
