i though you couldnt redline a 65mm pulley due to it pushes pass it internal working limits !!5000 rpm only ? stu .. 5000rpm!!!! it doesn't turn it into a diesel engine! No you can take a 65mm charger to 6k engine revs safely. The maximum safe working limit of the charger is 13500rpm IIRC and it runs 1.6x the speed of the engine on a standard pulley so at 6200 the charger is doing 9920rpm, reduce the pulley size by 17% (65mm) and your running the charger at around 11600rpm at 6200rpm. So at 6000rpm your doing around 11230rpm at the charger. Of coarse your still pushing an old worn G60 so there are risks attached so don't blame me if your charger goes pop. :D At the back of my mind is the figure 10500rpm for some reason. This might be the recommended rpm for a charger I can't quite remember. That would mean you would need to keep it a couple of hundred rpm below 6k if you were worried about the charger. I'm sure someone will be along to confirm or deny! :)

Which spark plugs for modded G60 and Rallye map sensor ?
CTWG60 replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Engine Bay
Stopping the ISV bleeding the boost means the ECU can't map the fuel above 1 bar as it can only measure 1.2 bar IIRC. Finding a Rallye ECU with a 2.5kpa map going to be difficult as they are rare, so you'll have to install an aftermarket 2.5kpa sensor. Having an unknown pressure of air in the inlet is not advisable unless your feeling lucky! :D Also by blocking the ISV from bleeding boost if you do get knock and and the ECU's retardation of timing doesn't stop it you will be in trouble when it tries to bleed off the boost! I'd sort out the drivetrain setup before I started planning mods around the figure of 245bhp. -
Which spark plugs for modded G60 and Rallye map sensor ?

Yep I've studied this. When the Charger produces around 1 bar the ECU holds the boost level just below 1 bar via the ISV so as to be able to fuel correctly. The best way to get round this restriction is to make sure the engine makes use of the boost so it doesn't limit the engines potential. -
Cost you a few more quid in fuel as well! I haven't managed 20k in three years so........
-
Does the 65mm pulley make much diff over the 68mm? And how often do you get the charger rebuilt? t A 65mm doesn't make much more power but you make the maximum boost early on and hold it till 6k it reduces the lag you get below 2500rpm on a standard engine. Rebuild should be every 20k I believe.

I can live with £500 is that +vat though! Well those numbers are very encouraging and looks like his RR is giving reasonable wheel loss figures of around 10% so I'll be taking it there as they are within 50 miles of me. Better start saving as the engine will be ready to dyno by this time next month. I don't expect mine will beat that as it's 2008cc and has no head work other than the cam, a rebuild and the G-Werks Manifold. Stock charger aswell on a 65mm with a G60 FMIC. :D

Thinking of using chipwizards to map the 2ltr engine next month if funds allow. Believe he can be quite expensive. I think blue_joe mentioned he spent £800 on his mapping. I'm hoping for 225lb/ft at the wheels at about 3800rpm.
-
I agree.
-
bhp is such a bollox measurement and really can be very missleading ie. 300bhp+ at 8500rpm in an 8v G60 WTF. Talk about number chasing.
-
OK buddy I hear you. Here's blue_joe's last published graph for reference and the interest of others, since you mentioned his setup.
-
What's your wheel bhp figure and wheel torque? edit: ok I've just spotted your previous post with full spec and every thing. Don't you think a loss of some 70bhp is a lot to give you 175bhp at the wheels? I know your car wasn't setup right for the rolling road but still 70bhp!
-
Aye that sounds good, just got to wait til I'm paid ;) No Rush. :)
-
Agree with the above, forget bhp and concentrate on getting maximum area under the curve. 14.4 secs is pretty quick for G60. :salute: I've managed an unofficial 14.7 and can do 15.1 ish runs repeatedly. 200lb/ft at the wheels will do that for you and there's more to come with a 2ltr bottom end and a schrick 268 cam.

I've got a spare Hella offside (R/H Driverside) early front indicator. It's brand new! £20 plus postage sound ok?
-
Already made a space for it on my driveway for when I win it. 8) I was a bit skeptical about 50bhp extra until I saw them rev it to 8k  Yep an extra 1000rpm will give you more bhp.

Always fancied an oak green late 16v mk2 golf. I hope they don't do something poo like stick an airfilter on it.
-
Sorry to tell you this buddy but thats the price of their late L/H indicators so I'd check with them you've got the right one! Fingers crossed.
-
Well done, was it their last one? Err Eurocarparts is that? I got a pair from them for £62? I thought they had no more!
-
Where do you buy that from then? Looks very good, could be the answer to my wiper wear issues.
-
I've got new vw arms and they are a big improvement over 17 year old arms and springs but you do have to change the blades regular. Apparently the lupo items last a lot longer. I like the standard look of the originals but they still lift off the screen in the rain over 100mph. So I don't do 100mph in the rain which is probably sensible anyway. :)
-
I can't think of anymore aftermarket suppliers other than Eurocarparts GSF GPC GwentVW Anyone know any others?
-
Which of these is that then? L/H indicator is hella no: 2BA 005 398-031 R/H inidcator is hella no: 2BA 005 398-041 As you know I have a R/H (2BA 005 398-041) one on order which you can have for what I paid for it if you don't mind waiting for it to arrive.

I've contacted Eric who is the president of the CCGB and he said if it transpires that early clear indies are unavailable then the CCGB will get involved and attempt to source some for members so there is a glimmer of hope for you there.
