  1. thinking about getting an RS6 or possibly an RS4... reasonably soon too... ;)
  2. I may have been there, hiding in the back... Also saw about 52corrados in a similar carpark yesterday...
  3. I'll be filming my G60 in a couple of weeks time for 0-60 and 30-70 both before and after swapping the engine over... Should be a rather interesting comparison of a standard G60 engine and box compared to a slightly mad modded G60 engine and modded box... I'll post 'em when I get 'em... 8)
  4. could also be engine mounts? Worth getting 'em checked just in case... 8)
  5. and that'll be a new avatar then... ;)
  6. the original clamps are set to a specific tension when new. This ensures that they don't crack the pipe nipple within the rubber hose but yet keep the correct pressure to stop the joint leaking... Problem is that once you've taken 'em off, they normally get over-stretched unless you have the correct tool for the job and so won't put the correct pressure onto the joint causing it to leak... :| Jubilee clips are fine to use as long as you don't either over, or under, tighten them... 8)

    Engine swap

if you have a 1988 to 1992 1.8 16V corrado (you don't mention that anywhere!) then yes, it's the same engine... should be a KR engine code... 8) I think the rear engine and gearbox mounts differ, but you're gonna have to use the 'rado gearbox and the rear engine mount is only 3 bolts to take off anyway... 8) Good luck, and welcome to The Forum... 8)
  8. M15 VW, I'll lend you the plans to my alarm system... anyone breaks into the garage, the alarm will be the last thing they ever hear! ;) I can't believe the cruddy luck you're having... hope you manage to catch the little sods that did it... ;)
  9. yup, having seen just how little damage J-DUB suffered compared with the MKIII golf that pulled out in front of me (completely mangled the whole passenger side so badly the doors wouldn't open, the floor bent and the seat frame distorted on the golf, J-DUB needed new front wishbone, steering rack, hub and front wing!) I'll be sticking with Corrados for a while longer yet until I can get myself a seam welded, roll-caged car that uses whatever I hit as a crumple-zone ;)
  10. jedi-knight83, although technically, that'll then not hold up in court in this country as a "digitally enhanced" photo is not admissable as evidence it the UK... ;) (don't ask how I know that... ;) )

    Locking wheel nuts

I run with Mcgards on my Corrados... Never had a problem with them, unlike the tri-lock style ones which I've had to drill 3 sets of 'em out when the keys broke...
  12. I'll line 'em up, you knock 'em down...
  13. There's a rather tastey blue Storm in Congleton with a nice blonde lady driver... Never seem to see her when I'm in my car though, so she probably thinks I'm a weirdo 'cos I watch her go past every time...
  14. on the other question, the needles do indeed just swap over too, but I've yet to find anywhere which sells just the needles, so you'll probably end up having to butcher a set of late clocks to get the needles... Dunno if any other VWs used similar needles that could be used though... probably worth checking your local scrap yard for anything similar... 8)
  15. Jstar, nope, I mean that if you put your mouse over the sentance and click it, you'll be transported to their website... ;)
  16. change your fuel filter... ;)

    S1 edition wheels

I was just thinking the same thing, dubster82... :)
  18. Does it start up straight away after it's died? If it does, and then dies again after another 5 seconds or so, then this indicates that you've got a good spark, the fuel is OK and the timing's OK. Personally, at that point, I'd remove the ignition switch wiring and hot wire it to see if it's a dodgy switch which is failing... ;) Costs nothing, easy to do and could well be your problem...
  19. ABS sensor cage is on the back of the disks on the rears with the sensor mounted on the axle. On the fronts the grated disk is behind the disk attached to the hub and the sensor is built into the hub-housing... Basically, ignore it 'cos you won't need to touch any of it unless you remove the rear disks... 8)
  20. it'll be running richer than normal, so there will be a slight performance downturn, but if the rest of the system's OK, it'll still run reasonably well... 8)

    nearside knocking

to be honest, it DOES sound like a loose battery! Check the vibration damper on the drive drivers side drive shaft. It's a HUGE chunk of HARD rubber which often breaks up and clonks about on the shaft... There's a thread about it HERE
  22. not unless you have pad wear indicators, in which case there's a single multiplug to undo on each of the front calipers... It's actually quite scarey how simple the brakes are when you consider how important they are!

    Oil Warning Light

oh, and if it does turn out to be clocks, have a word with chargedupstorm before buying new ones... I think he may be able to fix 'em... 8)
  24. "it's not leaking oil, it's marking it's spot" Used to have that on the back of my MKI 16V  Oh, and: "it's a dub thing, you wouldn't understand..."
