I've put some sticky backed velcro onto the crossovers on J-DUB and stuck 'em in the hole under the dash mounted tweeters, there's loads of room in there... 8) Cable size? Mmmm, that's a matter of some debate... Are you amping them up, or running them off the head unit? There's no point in using bigger cable than the connector on the back of the head unit supplies, but if you're using amps, then I'd go for something around about 2.0mm or possibly 2.5mm depending on the kinda amps and speakers you're using... For reference, I'm using some hi-power professional audio speaker cable which is 2.0mm and oxygen free copper with ALL gold connectors on everything (power, phono connectors, speaker connectors the lot!) just 'cos I got it cheap/free at work... 8)

You're best off with some oxygen free copper audio cable with gold plated connectors... Maplins do some good stuff for not too much cash... 8) I've used some stuff I got from work (surplus to requirements ;) ) which is mega overkill but didn't cost me anything so I'm not argueing! ;)

no idea mate, all I'm pointing out is that it's not fair that people just say "YES, these'll fit with no mods", "you'll need the arches rolled" or "you'll need the arches pulled" without stating what wheels they had fitted to what car with what suspension. It's misleading and could end up costing you money, time and effort... Your first post was spot on (except for mentioning body age) with the details, but NONE of the replies have had any of the important details needed to actually be any help...

mrbeige, '93 will have a late body and front wings.

Is it just me or does this sound dodgy ?
Henny replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in General Car Chat
if they type that badly, they wouldn't even get a reply from me... -
nope, German Swedish and French car parts... That's where I got mine from anyway...

 Where did it go?

J-Dub's called... ah, well... The grey one is yet to be named, but is kinda known as "Why You" at the moment, not 'cos she keeps going wrong (she's actually been scarily reliable!) but 'cos of the number plate (H-YYU) A new plate may soon be on her, so a name will be more obvious then... ;)

GSF also do 'em and were slightly cheaper than VW last time I asked... ;) 8)

Guys, don't forget that the Corrado came with 2 completely different setups for the width of the wheel arches! The earlier cars are between 6 and 10mm narrower on EACH wheel arch than the later bodied cars, and the line that the arches take is slightly different as they head down towards the ground. This is true on BOTH front AND rear arches... What fitted on one car may not fit on another for this reason, especially as no-one in this thread has yet mentioned what year their car is... ;) (Furki almost excluded from that last comment, although it could still be an early or a late '92... ;) )

you will have to split the face plate into its 4 parts to get at the bulb... if you look at the back of the face, there's a white bit with some round melted marks holding it onto the black outer face. Cut these plastic welds with a sharp knife and it'll all come apart allowing access to the bulb. To put it all together, you'll need some superglue or a soldering iron to re-weld it... 8)

I've seen Lee's up close and it's one of the best paint jobs I've had the pleasure of taking photos of... 8) It was NOT cheap though! The expensive bit of painting a car is the labour costs... The paint cost only starts to get expensive if you decide on a Pearl or Candy colour... If you can find someone who's GOOD, but is looking for some startup work to get their name known, it's easily possible to get a VERY good paint job for not much cash, however, it's a take a chance option... :|

I think that there may be a difference with the thread for the fixing screw on one of the handles being/not being a reversed thread too, but I'm not sure which one had the reversed thread and which didn't...

needs a scrolling red light in the grill to complete the effect...

welcome to Wormsville... Population - You... :| If the car didn't have electric windows, you won't have the control box, wiring or fuses for them... :| It'd probably be easier to remove the electric window, refit your mechanical one and sell the electric mechanism, or buy a pair of aftermarket electric mechanisms... :| Good luck... 8)

EARLY CAR: Pull the slider knobs out (easiest when in central position) pull the fan speed switch knob out lever the whole surround from behind (access from the ashtray) and it'll pop out complete with the fan switch. The fan switch then slides up (IIRC) and out of the face. There's then another connector which is for the illumination The bulb is inside the surround. Bad news: The bulb is not available from VW on its own, you need to buy the complete face plate at a silly cost... :( Good news: You can go to Maplins and buy a bulb to suit pretty simply and modify the surround to fit the new bulb... ;)

Any hints and tips for fitting a Golf G60 intercooler?
Henny replied to Tattie's topic in Engine Bay
IMHO the only way to tell is to measure both radiators and see if it'll fit in height wise... Width shouldn't be a problem with mounting as the cross member the intercooler/radiator sits on is the same as the one in the golf. 8) You may have to "modify" the fan shroud slightly though (with the aid of Mr."bloody big" Hammer to make some clearance for the charger, but I think it may well fit as long as it's not too tall for the Corrado's slam panel... 8) -
IIRC, the water pump should have curved vanes
-
wiring off the back of the gearbox may be for the speedo as a 91 may have just got the digital clocks instead of the mechanical ones. No idea on colours though, sorry.
-
Sorry, misunderstood you question... The bolt has to go through the disk as well on the fronts, on the rear the thread starts right at the mounting face as the disk is also the hub... ;) 8)

humm, why can I see a nice little spark generator (making lots of RF interference type noise) becoming a particularly effective weapon of mass distruction if these things take off?!? Wipe out the signals to the processor with noise and watch 'em all crash... :| Me? I'm of the school of thought that I want more driver training, not more electronics... ;)

see HERE for details... I've locked this up now... 8)

not had much time to do anything to her for a while... she's still pretty much as she was at the last MK meeting... I'm aiming to have a big blatt at the modifications and swapovers in the next few weeks, but I have to finish and shift my MKII Driver first which I discovered had 8" of water in the rear footwells this weekend... Not a nice job to clean up and dry out... :| Progress will be posted when I get time... 8)

18s will make the car handle and ride like a turd. 17s or 16s are the best for a Corrado.

no, you need some longer bolts!
