  1. definately a classic... just look at the price of parts...
  2. oooh, passed 155,555 on the way to work this morning... *edit* Smeg! That's 3040 miles in 7 weeks! :|
  3. not keen on the Kompressor badge, but the others look good... 8) wouldn't put 'em on my car though, I'm after the street sleeper look... ;)

VR brakes on to a G60

rears are easy, you just need new disks, bearings and wheel nuts, and then they just swap over... 8) Fronts are somewhat more tricky... The VR6 has different suspension from the G60 (it has the PLUS MKIII suspension where the G60 has MKII suspension) so changing to 5 stud requires the full front hub and quite a few other parts... :| Can't you just get another set of the wheels you want in 4 stud and sell the 5 stud ones? May be easier to do that than to change the car to 5 stud... :| Good luck anyway... 8)
  5. not quite a week, but I've already put nearly 6K on my Grey G60 since mid Jan when I picked her up... :|
  6. the only accurate way in the UK is to get the DVLA to give you the names and addresses of the previous owners of the vehicle and to give 'em a call, asking what the milage was when they sold it... :| Nothing else will give it away... that's how I got caught out with J-DUB... :( I bought her with 98Kmiles and she actually had closer to 225Kmiles on her, but there were no real signs to show it... :| Even if I'd have HPI'd it, they'd possibly still have had no record of what the milage should have been. The DVLA has no records on milage for private vehicles, unless you fill in the optional milage box on the V5 when you sell the car... A good trick is to get the chassis and engine numbers and phone VW. Ask them when the last service was, and what milage it was done at... that's how I finally confirmed what my milage should have been and roughly when it was clocked... :(

    RS front bumper???

how about fitting air-ride suspension, change the ride height at the touch of a button (or 3!) ?!? ;) :geek: :joker2:

    RS front bumper???

nah, it was a single piece of 2inch thick (high) 6inch wide wood the width of the curb access into my garage... it was just the angle of the pavement was just too much and it'd catch just as you were about to go up onto the (lowered!) curbstones... 5foot ramps would have meant that I'd have raised the car up!

    RS front bumper???

any way of making your drive's slope different? ;) :-P

    RS front bumper???

depends on which RS bumper you get... ;) The Reiger full A-B-S plastic one (available from Venom and other Reiger dealers) is approximately 5mm deeper than the standard G60 bumper with an early (90mm) spoiler on it... The one I had on J-DUB (see pic in sig) used to catch going into my garage until I got hold of a piece of wood to put along the edge of the curb to soften the slope slightly... Blue-Joe now has it on his Corrado. 8)
  11. Speak to SNS over there... They'll almost certainly have an "off the shelf" chip to suit the mods you've done which will improve matters somewhat significantly! 8)
  12. CAUTION! Driver's door handle bolt is reverse threaded!!! Don't swing on either too hard trying to undo it as you will find it undoes the wrong way! (had to make that a bit clearer even though gradeAfailure had correctly pointed this out! )
  13. yup... they're what are known as "red tops" over here... You'll need an appropriate chip to run the engine with 'em though... ;)
  14. Rallye's intercooler is a bit tight and needs the towing eye bracket "modifying" (with the aid of Mr.Big Fecking-Hammer) due to the design of the end cap, but it will fit... Syncros don't have intercoolers 'cos they weren't force induction... The Golf G60 one is a direct fit with only a small bracket on the Corrado needing attention from Mr.Hammer and a small bracket on the top front right (as you look from the front of the car) needing to be ground down/cut off so that it'll clear the slam panel. I have a Golf G60 one in one of my G60s and it's a nice snug fit... 8) The Golf G60 one is also the same core dimentions as the Rallye one and (IMHO) has better designed end caps... 8)

    help...

sounds to me like your timing is out... Check that you have the cambelt on correctly as this could be a tooth (or two!) out on the cam... As supercharged says, it could also be lambda, but they don't tend to make it overfuel quite this much... Disconnect the lambda sensor plug (on the rear engine mount) and see if it makes any difference... if it doesn't it's at fault (either dead, or dodgy wiring)
  16. it's a bloody good write up, and may well have inspired me to do something similar to the next box which'll end up in J-DUB... :notworthy: 8)
  17. FECK! I just went to pick up my wipers... That'll be £85 please! WTF? They told me £18.03 each and then tell me that they're £42 when I go and pick 'em up... I told 'em (loudly and VERY publicly!) exactly where they could shove their £80 wipers... ;)  According to the parts guy "someone's been buying lots of these, and VW were making a loss on them, so they've put the price up.... They were only supposed to be for people who had complained about their Lupo Gtis having problems with the wipers and who had the first batch of the aero blade style wipers, hence the cheapness....." Think I'll leave 'em on his shelf for a few months, then go and offer him cash to take 'em off his hands... ;)
  18. Tekara, that's correct, but only for the rear disks... Front sensor is more of a disk with holes in it which sits behind the hub. 8) nick48480, you can't go far wrong with genuine VW brake disks... they're not very expensive (suprisingly!) and are top quality (obviously!) 8) IMHO, Cheaply made drilled disks aren't worth the hassle... get what the car was designed with, or GOOD make (like Brembo) aftermarket ones unless you're planning mad engine modifications, although changing the brake flexy hoses to braided Goodridge ones isn't a bad idea and will improve the feel of the brake pedal... ;) 8) Pads? I'd go for either Mintex 1144 (C-TEK) or Pagid fast road pads... 8)

    front end noise

be carefull! It could be something as simple (but equally rather dangerous) as your pads having worn down to the point that the metal rather than the friction material is touching the disk! :|
  20. I had more money than time when I did that... next time, I may just attempt it myself... ;)

    Eyebrows

    think you'll find that's BIG boys toys... ;) http://www.bigboystoys-uk.com/
  22. I played with the idea of a T5 estate not long ago... a mate has an ex-plod one which has been subtly modified and is just mental... reasonable handling, speed, acceleration and the ability to lug a sofa around too! Oh, and it was dirt cheap too being an ex-plod one and it has the added advantage that EVERYONE gets out of your way on the motorway 'cos they assume it's an unmarked police car! 8)
  23. Supercharged, that's actually quite close to the setup I've been looking at for J-DUB's next incarnation... ;) think 6 calipers and 2 drums...
