Quick question, does the corrado g60 come with ABS?
Henny replied to oldirtybastard's topic in General Car Chat
nope, some people remove 'em to hide the fact there's a fault with the ABS... The pump is something you can't just hide! ;) -
'Lo Dennis, and Welcome to our Forum... Looks like you'll be a welcome addition to the regulars... 8) :D

Quick question, does the corrado g60 come with ABS?
Henny replied to oldirtybastard's topic in General Car Chat
quickest way to tell if your car DOES have ABS or not is to look in the engine bay. If you look just to the left of the expansion tank (in the rear right of the engine bay) on the bulkhead you'll either see some pipes running horizontally across to a pair of T pieces, or a BIG pump with LOTS of pipes coming off it and a large electrical connector on it... If you see the first, it's not got ABS, if you see the second, then that's the ABS pump! -
had a bit of a play with a lotus on the M6 on the way to the Warrington CGTI meeting on sunday... got a big thumbs up of respect from him and an approving nod as I pulled off the motorway... That's something you don't get in many other 14 year old cars! (especially not at 110mph! ;) )

can you feel anything odd through the brake pedal when it's making the noise?

SCARY!! VR6 Gearbox Strip down and Quaife Diff Install
Henny replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Drivetrain
:notworthy: Jay? You're a nutter... but you've been told that before... ;) Fantastic post matey! Hope the rebuild goes well... 8) :notworthy: -
as you put the key into the barrel, it moves a series of "plates" (also known as tumblers) out of the way. If it's the correct key for the way the barrel has been set up, once the key is all the way into the barrel, all of the plates will be sat so that they are flush with the outside of the barrel so you can turn the key... On some of the VW locks (if not all, but I'm not sure about this bit) you can remove the barrel from the lock and then the plates simply pull out meaning that you can put in different ones to match the lock to the key... I know for a fact that this is EASY to do on the glovebox and door handles, (I've done it! ;) ) but I've not done the ignition or boot locks yet... 8)

you may not have 'em then... 8) Some did, some didn't... (typical bloody VW   ) J-DUB's got 'em, and my first valver had 'em (H-HKC) but H-YYU hasn't...

or you could use some industrial heat shrink which'll replace the plastic sleve for about 20p... ;)

there was a company offering these for sale when the G60 was released... they weren't cheap... That's just a bodged in one (look at the 70 mark on the rev counter... :| ) I've been looking to put one in on my Grey G60 for a while now, I just need to get a decent gauge to use... ;)

The oil switch will cause the buzzer to activate on the dash and/or the oil warning lamp to light if it's not correct, but I'm not too sure which pressure switch is which on the VR6... :|

G60Dan, don't rule out the wiring... most people don't fit pads with the sensors in them 'cos they're more expensive and have less material on them, so the connectors for the sensors just float about in the wheel arches... I've seen loads of similar "problems" caused by them in the past... ;)

vag part numbers are normally in the format of: xxx xxx xxx (027 903 015 in this case) The other number is probably the Bosch part number (012 048 9360 361) The final number is the spec of the alternator (14V 65A)

The brakes warning lamp is used for 3 things: 1) Brake fluid low level warning (top up brake fluid to cure) 2) Handbrake activated warning (single wire switch under the handbrake lever similar to the door light switches, if the wire comes off, it'll leave the light on) 3) Some Corrados have brake pad wear sensors (or at least the wires FOR the sensors) This should put the light on when you brake and the pads are low, although if the wires become damaged, or the multiplugs get covered in crud, it can put the light on permanently...

Insane_VR6, Brake cleaner also containts known carcinogens, so using it to clean your skin isn't a very good idea... :| It is, as you say, bloody good for cleaning ISVs and other car parts though... 8)

4stud, what engine do you have? I have a 16V (KR engine) exhaust manifold under my desk, here at work, all boxed up and ready to send out... yours for £40 delivered... 8) (If you've got a 1.8 16V anyway! )

PMSL! 8) :notworthy: I needed that after the crap day I'm having at work today... 8)

Ant? What injectors are you running? Is it possible you've got one that's over fuelling? Are all of your plugs the same colour now you've got it running, or is one blacker than the rest?

yup, that's exactly what I did with J-DUB... the first offer was £2000 - Excess, I eventually got 'em to pay out £3500 - £250 excess and £600 to buy the car back off 'em... That payed for the Grey G60 I bought to replace the car and then the leather interior I sold has payed for the suspension parts I needed and possibly even the bodywork and standard cloth interior I bought! 8) Photocopy all of your receipts and a LOAD of adverts for G60s showing that the prices are WAY over what the book shows and they'll up their offer... 8)

You may find that it can be refurbished 4stud, rather than having to replace it... It all depends on the design of the wheel and if it's a polished rim or a painted one... :? I curbed one of my recently refurb'd Borbets this morning in the work carpark... Not happy... Still, At least I have another spare I can put on to have a full mint set, then I can get the 4 new wheels and the 2 curbed spares refurbished again and have a full set of 10 mint wheels again... 8) (2 cars, = 10 wheels before anyone starts again... )

Originally they HAD to be GTI ones as they were the only ones to get the "aero blade" style wipers... the other models just got bog standard wipers... VW has now introduced the "aero blade" style wipers to just about every new VW car... 8) This is part of the reason the part numbers have changed every 30 minutes...
