    De-wedged throttle.

Pros - you can get slightly more air through the throttle body meaning a slight power increase cons - you're left with 2 holes in one of the butterflies... :| (these would need filling, or the butterfly replacing with one without the holes - 16Vs have these ;) ) - you may find that the initial throttle response when tooling around in traffic is a bit viscious... :| What ever you do, be careful if you're gonna mess about with it... the screws that hold it on are quite soft and can become stressed if you mess with 'em.... one of those is what broke off and came through into my engine damaging a piston costing me well over £600! :| (and that's with ME doing the labour!)
  2. Gav? PMSL@ "MK3 Escort cloud"! :notworthy: 8)
  3. erm, Gav? It's actually so they can test the exhaust gas before the cat, rather than a lazy mechanic's aid... ;)
  4. the charger's seals will pass a light mist of oil... Also, do you have the boost return pipe still connected? (the pipe which connects to the right top of the charger and comes from the bottom of the throttle body) This will introduce some oil into the system too... If it's only the ammount that you mention, it's nothing to worry about... 8)
  5. G60Dan, that's 'cos it's still got all of the identification marks on the chassis.... 8) They were Q plated when the chassis numbers and identification marks were removed before the car was recovered, but not if it was recovered intact after the insurance has payed out like with your car... 8)
  6. Bosch or Varta batteries are very good and not overly pricey if you get 'em from sensible places... 8)
  7. Tempest, I think with a little bit of photoshop editing, you'd probably be able to pull it off... ;)

    Interior fan

if it works on the first 3 speeds but not 4, then you've got a dodgy switch or broken wire... ;)
  9. I still ask for Club GTI discounts on anything I buy, be it 65p or £2,000! ;) Mainly just to be consistant... ;)
  10. vr6storm, don't need to do that on a Corrado, the controls only adjust the air flaps, not the coolant going through the matrix... 8) Grim? Where's it leaking from? Sounds to me like you may have a pinhole in one of the water pipes too... You may find that if you tap* the recall valves in the engine bay, the heater will start working again... The silt in them can solidify when you drain the system and bung 'em up... *tap = knock it about a bit with a mallet... ;)
  11. I was going through the history I got with my Grey '91 G60 this weekend and I found the original recall letter from VAG... I'll scan it and post it up for you tonight... 8) I'm pretty sure that it won't cover VR6's though.... :|
  12. pokey? I've been in John's 16VG60 when I went down there to pick up my block from him... It's fecking RAPID, forget pokey! Not sure how much faster than mine it is though... that'd be an interesting one to try... 8)
  13. beeftech, why not? You can supercharge a Vespa if you make up a custom exhaust and use the normal exhaust fan to blow air into the carb... It ain't pretty, it won't last long, but, BOY, do you get some giggles from it!
  14. yup, it was (and still is, I believe) used for Kit cars as well, where under 75% of the car isn't new and over 60% isn't from a single vehicle...
  15. Phat, I've also been talking to a local company about making up some FMICs based on the Golf G60 intercooler... Basically the same idea you've had.... 8) Don't base your new intercooler on the Rallye one, the end tanks are crap compared to the Golf G60's one... ;) 8) Good luck with this, if Forge can get some good prices, then I may just abandon my project and get one from you! 8)
  16. A Rallye is 4x4, has a smaller capacity from the factory and has a MUCH bigger intercooler... I'd imagine that would be reflected in the chip writing process... ;)
  17. G60Dub, teenager? huh? I'm 30 this year and I've got one of these.... Kev's older than me and he's got one too... ;)

    How much for

depending on how much history the engine has, I'd have thought you're looking between 400 and 600 for the engine with charger and all ancilleries possibly a little more with loom and ECU
  19. straight push in, push out grommet mate... 8)

    vibrating car

have you had your wheels balanced recently? Could be something that simple... 8)
  21. yup, got 4 aluminium angle pieces stuck to the boot floor with some kind of sealant (probably sikaflex or gripfill) from an old boot build in my Grey G60... there's no way they're coming out... and I tried on one of 'em! :|

    Crank bolt?

Noooo - the disc retaining screw will just shear off... Not if you have the wheels on, or at least the wheel bolts in through the disks... That's how I did mine anyway...

    MPG comparison

got J-DUB down to WAY under 15MPG too... That was thrashing the knackers off her on an air strip though... 8)
  24. You wouldn't believe some of the things I've found in mixing desks in my time... It was worse when I worked for a Dance station though... :|
