  1. 1046BHP/Ton?!? Cool.... 8)
  2. hummm, SCART.... Syndicat des Constructeurs d'Appareils Radiorécepteurs et Téléviseurs A French electronics connector standard? Says it all really... :pukeright: Hateful things which do everything they should do badly... [/highhorse]
  3. you'll have completely unbalanced the crankshaft if you removed only one or 2 of the pistons... it'd vibrate itself to bits within a very short period of running :| ... The chances of getting it down the road from Awesome to the motorway would be sod all IMHO... :|
  4. Mike, yup... wanted a red one to go with the red switches and reverse LCDs I'll have in the car soon... Was going to use it in J-DUB, but I may be doing something a little different to her which would mean I can't use this gearknob... ;)
  5. not trying to teach you to suck eggs or anything... The monster tachos have a switch on them somewhere to select how many cylinders your car's engine has... Are you sure that you've got it set to 4 properly? ;)
  6. that's a chop if ever I've seen one... The front bumper vents are WAY too sharp and clear compared with anything else... The front brakes aren't the Brembos they mention -you can't see 'em through those wheels, and anyone who's had brembos on their car knows that the calipers are sodding enormous!
  7. fm modulator wire is an aerial so you don't connect it to anything... make sure it runs near to the normal car's aerial cable though... ;) Did this kit not come with any instructions? :?
  8. yeah, you need 2 C spanners to adjust coilovers properly... There should be 2 collars which you need to turn into each other to lock the height, so you need the 2 C spanners to do this properly... 8)
  9. it's just normal body wax which you'd use to polish your car with... A quick coat of that onto your rims will protect them and make them easier to clean the brake dust and road crud off of... 8)
  10. yeah, but I've got to change all the switches and clocks to red to match it first! ;) Time to get busy methinks... 8)
  11. the G60 alternator is ONLY for the G60 (from the VAG range at least) due to it's mounting... I've heard that there's another car which the alternator will fit from, but I'm not sure what it is... I think it was a Peugeot or similar... :|

    Interior Fan

this is a common fault. If you take off the resistor pack (the metal bit with the wiring connector on it on the fan) you'll see a LARGE ceramic resistor pack on it. Above that, there's a small silver cylinder: This is the thermal fuse. The odds are that the bearings in your fan have worn and the fan has been drawing too much current, overheating the resistor which has blown the thermal fuse. This fuse can be bought for about 40p from Maplins or RScomponents and is a 2 minute job to solder in a new one... Full instructions are HERE Oh, and I've moved this thread to Interior instead of being in Enginebay... 8)
  13. yeah, I get exactly what you're on about Dinkus... [/broadcast engineer] ;)
  14. I'm not too sure what TSR are like now that Tim Styles (racing hence TSR) has retired... the last things I did hear weren't too complimentary... :| You not tempted to have a quick blat over to Stealth racing kangaroo, and to get Vince to have a look over your car? If I had a VR6, that's where I'd go... ;)
  15. Dinkus, you're right... judging by the pics on the TV screen ebay auction page, the screens DO have a mono speaker built in, but you wouldn't want to use 'em 'cos they'll be crap.
  16. erm, they've only got one phono cable 'cos that the VIDEO input to the screens... :| In a normal TV system, you should have a pair of phono cables (red and white) from the TV tuner connected into your head unit, and a yellow one into your screens to give the picture. The TV tuner you have has a built in FM transmitter so that you can tune your car radio into 88-89mhz and pick up the TV's sound through your car radio. You can also plug the DVD player into the input labeled CD/AVinput with a twin phono to 3.5mm headphone jack. This will then allow you to listen to the DVD through the same radio channel. If you haven't got a head unit in your car, you need to get one as there's no amplifiers anywhere in the kit you've got so far...
  17. does the light ever go off? If it doesn't and the resistance is the same on all 4 sensors, then you have another fault somewhere... If it does go out, but then comes back on when you're moving, you have a mechanical fault somewere which could be the sensor not being close enough to the grated disk or could be one of the other sensors not working properly... Best bet is to get it onto a VAG-COM system which will tell you exactly which part is at fault... 8)
  18. that's just a standard one isn't it? I'd guess that either GSF or ECP are gonna be the cheapest... 8)
  19. peak numbers are all irrelevant anyway... it's how the car gets to the figures and where in the rev/gearing the torque appears that makes a car fast/slow or accelerate quickly or slowly on the road... I know I'd rather have huge bags of torque from down low with gearing to match than an engine which just revs way up high to get high BHP figures... And yes, I do know the relationships between torque, BHP, acceleration and speed...  That's a fantastic letter from Vince... nice to see someone who'll put his reputation to one side and PROVE that his figures are repeatable and as accurate as possible... 8)
  20. OI! Keep those kind of mental images out of my cars thread! :pukeright:
  21. Why do I want so many? I have 2 Corrados and I like the look of Borbet Cs on the Corrado. The 4 that the car is running on at the moment are a 30 offset and sit nice and flush with the wings on my early bodied Grey G60... which is a shame 'cos when I put the 11mm spacers behind 'em to make 'em clear the Brembo calipers, they'll stick out and foul on everything... :( SO, the new ones I'm bringing in from Germany are a 40 offset so that they'll sit 10mm further in to the body of the car... when I put the 11mm spacers behind 'em they'll have a 29 offset and hopefully still will clear the brembo calipers without catching on the body work... ;) The 4 30mm offset ones will then be put back onto J-DUB leaving me with 2x 30 offset spares (one of which was damaged during the crash). The other 4 I was going to buy (to make it upto 14!) were 5 stud ones with a 30 offset which I was thinking about getting in case I decide to do something a little odd to J-DUB during her next incarnation, but the seller never replied to my email (in perfect german! 8) ) so the auction ended with no bids... His loss....
  22. Right, let's put this one to bed and into plain english... The rear MKIV calipers are a DIRECT swap for the ones fitted to the corrado as standard (be they MKII or MKIII based) as long as you use the conversion brake pipes. NOTHING other than the caliper and brake hose needs to be changed to do this conversion. The standard handbrake cables, pads and disks WILL fit. Chubby? Handbrake cables are the same on ALL Corrados. ;)
  23. ooh, yeah! I've got a 2 sets of broken fogs... If I can get some lenses, I can update the lights on my Grey C to the nicer looking (IMHO) later fogs/indicators... 8)

    Spacers - G60

Kev, yup, that's Curborough... and I intend to do the same again this year in the Grey G60! Expect more 3 wheeled action! :D 8) Dubster, it's 'cos he's normally in the driving seat when it's on 3 wheels! ;)
  25. you also need several thousand pounds worth of specialised VW tools to get the VAG boxes apart and back together properly again... :| Much better to send it to Vince and have him work his magic on it... 8)
