  1. yup... still toying with the idea... I think I'm gonna get 'em both re-sprayed and then just swap 'em as and when I feel like it! :D  8) Should confuse a few people! ;)
  2. Sorry about that Phat, it does look kinda blue on that vid 'cos my camera's not exactly brilliant.... In my defence, I didn't take that vid 'cos I was in the queue waiting for my run! ;) 8)
  3. all 3 engine mounts are pretty damned easy to replace on a 16V.... 8) about the same as a G60 in terms of difficulty and I've done all 3 on mine with no hassles.. 8) Undo the bolts on the mount you want to change, jack up the engine (with a piece of wood between the engine and the jack!) remove old mount (can be slightly tricky, but not too hard) replace and re-tighten... Job done... 8)
  4. yeah, wear the tyres down with plenty of track action! :D  ;) I'm gonna get the body work sorted and finish off the last little bits (hi level spoiler mounted brake light, rear facing camera etc) and then get cracking on my MKI Golf GTI 1.9 TDI 130 project.... The Golf was supposed to be my project car and the Corrado the daily driver, but when the Corrado broke, I just kinda went to town on it!  8)

    Larger intercooler

yes. so is the one going to the throttle body from that pipe, although that one's not so critical... The golf's pipe is longer in the depth into the engine bay (front to back direction)
  6. yeah, I love that on mine too! :D 8)
  7. I forgot to take those pics for you Storm, I just ploughed on in and put her back together... :? Sorry... Anyway, the machining is pretty simple to be honest, it just looks a bit scarey! ;) Anyway, J-Dub's now back in one piece (properly this time!  ) so I went to Santa Pod this weekend to GTI Festival and I took a couple of vids (which are in the general forum) but here's a link to me running J-DUB down the strip and getting sod all traction in 1st and 2nd but still pulling in a 15.771 on only my second ever run... RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE AS Also a vid of my car being mapped (caution! nearly 10meg! :? ) RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE AS And a 500K vid of my car with the fuelling completely wrong popping and banging in all directions... RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE AS Here's a couple of pics from Sunday... 8)
  8. Woo-HOO! 8) VID TIME!!!! 8)
  9. 'Ello? You called? ;) Yup, your vacuum pipe to the ECU has either come off or has a hole in it... this pipe tells the ECU what the engine's upto so it can adjust fuelling and the ISV... :| It runs from the top nipple on the back of the throttle body to the nipple on the ECU and needs to be exactly 100cm long... 8) Mine had this exact problem when I bought it...

    soft top corrado

Sorted it for you... your host didn't like them being hotlinked elsewhere... ;)
  11. the reason for filling from the top water hose is to prevent air locks... if you're just topping up a little bit (1/2 litre or less) than the expansion tank should be fine... 8) It's only on a full re-fill that it's important to go from the top hose... ;)
  12. There isn't a drain plug on a G60. If the fan's not coming on, change the switch (the brass plug thing) they're not expensive and do fail every now and then... The thermostat is actually IN the bottom of the water pump... it's not a hugely bad job to do on a G60, but it's not exactly quick... The plastic flange between 2&3 is just a water outlet with the temp sender for the dash (black one) and the temp sensor for the ECU (blue one) in it... 8) Change the fan switch first, and see if it's any better, if not, post back and I'll do a "how to" on replacing the thermostat... 8)

    o2 sensor

clean up the contacts on the battery, starter motor and the earth point on the gearbox, check that they're all nice and tight, then give it another go... :) If it's TRYING to catch, your switch is working OK and it could be down to a crappy starter motor which needs either cleaning or replacing...

    soft top corrado

    they work for me? :?
  15. wonder if it'd be worth it for me... ;) :|

    soft top corrado

That'll be a Zender one then... hence the Zender Turbo wheels... ;) Personally, I think it's stunning... 8) Just the right amount of Corrado left in it and in keeping with the general shape too... shame it never made it into production... :(
  18. Humm... I think it's probably best if you get someone to have a look at it Roger, as I think we've just proved that we can't diagnose it without actually seeing/hearing it in person... ;) :| It could be something normal, and nothing to worry about, or it could be something expensive which needs doing PDQ, but without someone who knows these things actually getting their hands on it, you were spot on when you said "I recognise that diagnosis is difficult from afar"
  19. I got a 15.345 as my best with a reaction of .468 in my G60 It seems to me that it's about launch technique as well as out and out power... I KNOW the power's there 'cos I was spinning it in 1st and 2nd on each run, but I'm damned if I could work out how to stop it doing it without bogging the engine down...
  20. Porsche stopped using Magnatec as they found it was causing odd oil pressure problems in their engines... worth bearing in mind... ;)
  21. I'll hack out the crud above for you when the pics arrive, corradlo ;) 8) (and that's not a dig at Phat, I'm agreeing with him! 8) )
  22. Yup.. nervous as hell too... :| REALLY enjoyed it though... :D
