    ABS

check HERE for nice people with VAG-COM who have offered to help... 8)
  2. yup, they'd do well too... Although I'd also be tempted to get the Infinity 6x4s (REF6402CF) for the rear to to keep with one make for the speakers... 8) That'll have a very nice sound then, and if you add in a Basslink then it'll be spot on... 8) check out http://caraudiosecurity.com/ or http://www.bassjunkies.com for good prices... ;) 8)

    T-Piece

you need a 10/1mm threaded T-piece... give ThinkAuto a ring and see if they do them... 8)

    ABS

Connect up the car to a VAG-Com while the light is on, and it'll tell you what the fault is... ;) 8) I'm gonna do that with mine to work out what the fault is, as soon as I can find a suitable time...

    ABS

I have the same feeling, but then, most MOT people aren't gonna know that it's supposed to have ABS if you remove it all as they were made without ABS on the earlier cars... ;) Personally, I'd leave it alone 'cos I like the safety aspect of it now that I've used it in anger a few times... ;)

    Still..... Smoking

write it in MS word, and save it as HTML! ;) solves the problem nicely ;)
  7. the rears are good (I have the older ones in my Corrado) but why are you getting 2 sets of 2way speakers for the front? You'd be much better off with a set of component 5.25" JBLs and putting the tweeters in the dash... it'll give you a much better sound quality and sound stage... 8) Try and get something like the C508GTI or the GTO506C I know the latter ones fit in very well, as I have them in my Corrado... ;) :D You may also want to get a sub of some sort to add the low down bass which it's difficult to achieve with standard size speakers... I've got an Infinity Bass Link in the boot, and the sound is lovely... 8)
  8. change yer fuel filter... ;) Sounds like it may be as simple as a blocked filter and pinking... If you can also hear the fuel pump (kind of a whine from the rear of the car) I'd go with this one... Either way, the filter is about £10 and is pretty easy to change, so it's worth a shot... ;) Good luck! Oh, and let us know where you are... an opinion from someone who knows G60s won't cost you anything and may save you a lot of hassle... 8)
  9. Looks lovely mate... 8) This is definately one of my favorite colours on the C... 8) (oh, and I moved this to the members gallery ;) )
  10. P plate? mmmm... nice... 8) New calipers tend to be a golden colour when you buy 'em now anyway, so I'd leave 'em alone... looks nicely different and clean without being too "in yer face" like red painted ones... (and, yes, I know I have red painted ones on mine, but that's 'cos they match the Brembos on the front! ) I forget sometimes just how nice a relatively standard VR6 looks... 8) (especially a nicely lowered one! ;) )
  11. how new are your engine/gearbox mounts? Could also be that if they're dead, you've pulled a wire somewhere... :?
  12. The oil temp on my Corrado used to sit at 115C whenever I used the car... don't worry about it unless it approaches 130+C then you should start to think about putting another oil cooler in... 8) For reference, my new engine sits with the oil at around 105 when hammering it, or about 95 the rest of the time due to the new cooler, but used to sit at 115 and I've had it upto 135 before with no problems... :? The water pump isn't a valve style pump... if you take off the bottom radiator hose, it'll let the coolant past it and out of the gap, so that's the best way to drain the system (with the engine off!)... 8) Oh, and anti-freeze is also a coolant which helps raise the boiling point of the water to help it cool the engine more efficiently... this could explain the extra temp that you're seeing if it always used to have some anti-freeze/coolant in with the water... ;) (And, just for reference, the fan run on switch lives above the injector rail on the left hand side of the car as you look into the engine bay... it's got a brown/white wire on it and just looks like a 13mm nut with a spade terminal sticking out of it...)
  13. the fog lamp switch on a Corrado only lights up to warn when the REAR fog is on... there is no indication to tell you that the front fogs are on... :? I have no idea why VW decided to do this, as it's sodding annoying to get pulled over 'cos you're on sides and fogs and didn't know about it... It's only happened to me once, but the copper who pulled me had a look at the switch and believed me that I wasn't doing it on purpose and let me off... :D he commented what a crap design it was for such a nice car! :D 8)

    Headlights and Fogs

when you turn on the front fogs via the switch, do they get brighter if they are on "half brightness" ? If they do, then it sounds like you have a faulty earth connection on the dipped headlights which is earthing thru the fogs causing them to share the current with the headlamps (or possibly even the relays if you've put in a loom upgrade) and come on... Check your earth wiring carefully and I'll bet you'll have a "D'OH!" moment! ;) 8)
  15. check the vacuum hoses off the back of the throttle body... I'll bet that one of these has come off or split... :|
  16. *cough* he said he wanted to fit AUDI door handles *cough* Shilakadaddy hope you can get it sorted soon with the minimum of cost and hassle... I'd like to get hold of some of these gits and publicly teach 'em not to do it again.... (not neccesarily with violence either... something MUCH more creative! ;)  )
  17. or ABS... ;) (the ABS light normally lives in the top position out of these 4 if you have ABS fitted)
  18. or as some clever sod once wrote: (and has been copied sooo much for :D ) old bonnet ----___---- new bonnet ___----___ 8)
  19. In a nutshell (that I'm probably gonna get flamed to hell about) For around 3K you can get a: 1) mint early 1.8 16V with reasonbly low milage 2) reasonably good G60 which will probably be in need of a charger rebuild soon 3) bit of a nail of a VR6, or a nice one with interstellar milage on it which will probably need LOTS of EXPENSIVE work doing soon... 4) ratty late 2.0 16V (these still hold their money very well... 8) ) 5) reasonable 2.0 8V but be overtaken by MKII 1.6 Golf Drivers It all comes down to what you want the car for, how many miles you intend to put on the car, and how much money you have available per month (and trust me, you'll need it every month! ;) ) to repair the car or for any modifications you want to do... 8) As has already been said, test drive a few and see what you prefer... 8)

    Still..... Smoking

    helps stop smoking.... ;)
  21. Locks can get a mechanical insurance (cat 3) approval from Thatcham, but because they're not self arming, your insurance company almost certainly won't give you a discount for it... same as having a Thatcham Q rated tracker, they don't give any more discount for that if you've already got a cat 1 or 2 fitted, and they'll insist that you have at least a cat 2 on your car... :?
  22. Clear out your Cookies and temp internet files, Biggrim.... I'd bet that'll sort it for ya.... :D
  23. try replacing the blue and the black sensors on the plastic water flange on the front of the engine... sounds to me like your gauge may well be lying to you and these are the senders for it! ;) (black one does the gauge, blue one is for the ECU, they're not expensive 'cos they're used on LOTS of VWs... 8) ) Also, when you re-filled the water system, how did you do it? On a Corrado you need to make sure you fill it via the top hose on the radiator, NOT via the expansion tank... only top it up from the expansion tank else you'll get an airlock in the system which will cause symptoms like you describe... :| The normal temps you mention for your car are actually pretty low for a G60, with the higher temps you're currently getting still being within the reasonable operating range for the car... as long as they don't keep going up from that point, it should be OK... Good luck... 8)
  24. sounds like one of the relays in the aftermarket loom has stuck on... give it a "gentle tap" and see if that cures it... ;)
