When running a 6 Branch exhaust manifold the heat shield doesn't fit. I did have a melted meth pipe, its a plastic pipe and luckily it was seen before the kit was active but now re routed it behind the cloth heat wrap on the bulk head so its further away from the manifold and its been fine ever since. The heat from the mani melted the pipe. Craig's has been fine and I told him to make sure sure his was ok. But this begged the question. Anyone running a 6 Branch and heat shield?

How to fit / wire / install obd2
Rams replied to C488ADO's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
Chuckling to myself, you know exactly how I'm feeling then. The going insane is not far off the mark either! Lol I'm going to check it out shortly. Yesterday I found the grey and white wire and yellow wire in the brown plug which is connected to 1 wire which on the other end of the plug which I think its been joined to the same colour wire but did work when he plugged the tool into the reader the first time so either the wire has broken or could it be this plug behind the dash? I'm not sure if these plugs are correct and if there is a plug missing? Vince said he thought 3 wires should be going to it? This pic shows the red and black wire and a brown / white wire The next shows a red and black wire The next one shows a red and black wire and a green / brown wire Pictures 3 and 4 plug into one another, I've tried things with them plugged in and out, doesn't appear to be any change? What would you try first? The aux pump wires show these colours on the plug connection that clicks onto it. The plug pictured in pic 2 look to be the same colours albeit the green / brown , the green looks to be a lighter shade of green. Or is this just the heat and elements that have made the colour lighter?? I think these are all the offending wires and not plugged in so hopefully when I can work out which plug needs to come off and join the, to a different plug etc that my aux pump should spring into life. This fellow makes me wonder, the red wire with the grey plug? -

That's brilliant, very much appreciate your reply. Corrado's teach you all about patients ey! I have checked my pictures and have all those wires not connected so I should be able to figure it out from here. That's a great help. Will get to it tomorrow and see how I get on. Rams -
How to fit / wire / install obd2

Hi Chaps, please help me, don't want to use the car till its all sorted and the fuse box is hanging down whilst I try and figure out what to do. I have 2 faults, first one might be a simple fix but the Diagnostics are not reading. It sees the abs but won't communicate. I've traced the plug and wires down, the other end of the plug has 1 wire which I think is grey and white and the other wire is snipped. Should one end of the diagnostic plug just have 1 wire behind the fuse box area? It's bottom left of picture, other end not seen has 1 wire going into the plug. The other wire is snipped and covered with heat shrink. What's weird when we finished the wiring, connected a Snap On diagnostic reader and it read the codes as we had a short to ground for the injectors, a wire wasn't connected - but it was reading. I've had the dash out a few times since and wonder of I've disturbed anything but the connector block behind the centre console, this one Are these wires in the correct locations? Brown plug is a larger plug and can go into 1 or 2 of the slots I think and the single grey one can fit into a few different positions. Just wanted to ask of anyone has a picture of theirs? Secondly, my Aux water pump has never worked, only found out as it started to leak and after asking about it, I'm told I should hear or feel it working. So dropped fuse box and for the last few days I've been reading up on lots of different forums and just got brain freeze now. I have these wires not connected, everything works and runs fine even the after run fan and the general fan when the car reaches temperature. I'm not sure on stage 2 fan but after 80 degrees or so the fan comes on and goes off as it cools down. I've followed Daves details regarding the mods he did to his wiring but still confused. It was a while ago now and trying to remember everything is proving difficult. Last picture shows aux pump and wire colours. I will do my best to work it out but if I can't and anyone wants to earn some money, please give me a shout. I'm hoping its just swapping / changing a couple of wire connections or if I need to remove that section of the loom and strip it etc. Cheers Rams -
Quietly saying this but think it was e46, just unsure if petrol or diesel? I will find him again to heal my physiological wounds. Lol My Rotrex will be fine my friend, it made very food figures on Bobbies C. Just need to get the other engine built up and run in and then it can be pushed. Craig tells me the 94 charger is barely stressed with my set up so there's still more to come. You know the bit that dissuaded me from going Turbo was the exhaust manifold and downpipe mods. Think both are great fun things to have and do give the big smile factor when you consider how old the car is but how well they respond. For a guru like yourself I realise why Turbo is more appealing and what you can do with them tuning wise but you can't argue with strong figures from a simple design such as a charger. You can tell from my reply even though you were just having some banter but it was a difficult decision. One i had been cogitating about for about a year or so. But that day Craig went past me and the sound it made just instantly flicked my eye balls into pounds signs and ended the decision right there and then. Then the following day or 2 days afterwards, I read, 'Rotrex charger and engine etc all for sale' and everyone spoke highly of him so I couldn't refuse. Just wish I had more funds to have bought the engine and charge cooler/short runner. Wouldn't have lost to that Bmer then! I blame it on running 99 Ron when the car was mapped for the upgraded V power! Lol my racing driver excuses are great hu! I actually filled up around 1am at the Shell garage before the mapping day and she said your the first to have just filled up with it and explained the benefits. Then the next day you were posting about it.

Hi there Do you just need the black rubber pipe that has the t section? Not sure if you and post above need the same part as originally I posted the inlet for sale and just used a photo of that where it had the pcv stuff attached. The inlet was always the part for sale on the add and was getting round to adding more items. Such as the pcv, pipe work and CC/solenoid. Once I know what you need first Dragon, I can reply to the chap above. Cheers

Lol, the lights thing reminded me of ' Meet the Parents' the part he's racing the Dad from each set of lights. Always makes me laugh! Had we levelled and went for it then I'm sure I would have taken him, he was tanking it well before I knew and when I clocked that he dropped the hammer I was in 4th and thought I'd catch him. Sure he thinks he did a vr6 and that's what bugged me. It's the first encounter where she came home with her tail between her legs. The day before I played against a civic type r and won easily so I was over confident, never a good thing. Once I get that Go Pro camera I vow to show you all that the Corrado will be victorious! Alex, good to hear from you, it was a knee jerk reaction and knowing my 80mm pulley would have given more boost/power it was easy to wish it was on. I will be patient and forge the 2.8 that's sat in my lock up. Those little jap things are fast, I had one all over me a while back, sat on my bumper, literally sat on it. This was before she was charged but they are little rockets to 80/100 mph.. Especially tuned versions.

I wouldn't want to put you out by dropping your fuse box mate, its a bit of agg, if your doing some work in this area then happy days.... It was ages ago that I did the conversion and once the car started and the fans came on when at temp and after run fans so I thought it was all working. I've forgotten exactly what we did. Never did really check the aux pump. The fact it leaked was what brought it to my attention. Did the pins need moved from the multi plugs to get the fans working as well as the aux pump? I've noticed my fans being on after a short run, they don't stay on long but maybe its the charger that gets things hotter so the aux pump will help control the cooling around the engine from what I read so its got to be fairly important. If I can't work this one out then would someone be up for doing this for me? Happy to cross palms with gold/travel to you. Hopefully I can do it though! My loom came from a 96 or 97 Golf VR.

Thanks for following up on this, I doubled checked the plug and wires and one is brown / green and the other red/black. I connected the yellow plug with black yellow wire and you correct, still doesn't work. The second pic shows the closest match colour wise, red plug, 3rd pic, also a single plug has red/black wire 4th pic red/black wire 5th pic is red/black and brown / white Also in view of pic 5 is a grey single plug with red wire Might need to find someone to help me finish it. Hopefully a simple fix at the fuse board end.... Ta

Been reading another forum and the yellow plug with black/yellow stripe says its for the aux water pump and goes to D3. Mine isn't connected so maybe this will sort the aux pump? Does this ring any bells buddy?

Big thanks for this

My cars obd2 reader wouldn't communicate and when Vince plugged her in he said the abs is communicating but not the engine etc. I'm sure when I completed the obd2 my mechanic had a Snap on reader and that worked and read faults so thinking its something I've done removing and reinstalling the dashboard? This plug connection, the wires seem tight in how they reach it and just tracing steps to go through this wiring from the reader to this part pictured. Could I have that wired incorrectly? Is the plug the correct way? Will check tomorrow the wiring by fuse board to see if the date wire is connected since the going obd2. Vince had his own wires and plug and connected into my fuse board and he was then able to communicate with my car but need this sorted for future reasons/vag com-ing

Hello, sorry to bring this back but was this the plug and wiring you were referring to? I've just checked mine and dropped the fuse board again to see if it was a simple plug to connect and started reading the obd2 conversion and stumbled on this. I'm thinking this maybe the reason. My fan comes on when reaching temp and runs after when the engine is hot. So my aux pump has probably never worked since going obd2. I have these plugs behind the fuse box, some maybe not required and just deleted but I didn't want to do that until I was certain everything was working. Also have a red female plug with brown/green wire and brown/black wire not connected to anything. Not pictured. Can you remember how you fixed it? Cheers Rams

Really needs to be plugged into vagcom mate to see what codes come up. I'm happy to give you a refund on the part but it was definitely working when I removed it before going obd2. One problem which can occur is when you replace the leads that they don't clip in properly to the plugs and did you use the tool which reaches into where the plugs live? Most garages don't have them but I had this problem once before after someone replaced a set of leads, they just weren't quite home and should click when located. Fuel filter and fuel regulator would also be worth trying but I would get it plugged in before you spend more money. Will be something simple. Also the cooling temp sensor can cause it to run rich, lots of different actors and not really expensive to put right once you know what it is. Offer stands anyway if you do want to return it. Weird it would run worse but doubtful it is the MAF but you could always try a new one and ask them if you can return it if not required. Rams -
Looked like it was a bit rusty on the edge but will have this done when the engine replacement takes place. The engine bay will be fully painted and sorted out along with a new slam panel. I've sorted a set of headlights out and will strip mine soon to clean the glass and use the different rear housings on the new ones. Cheers again for your help! My fog light on the driverside is not working. I connected that side back up as we were putting the bumper back on from when the car was having the charger fitted so I need to check this out. Need to get it on the ramp to check the wiring as the charge pipework is in the way. I put some new fog light bulbs in just Incase it was the bulb and it still didn't work. New bulbs are brighter too. ---------- Post added at 6:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:29 PM ---------- Is that closer to the steering wheel end or the pedals? Would I need to remove the steering rack to replace this bearing? Could it make the steering smoother?

Got it fitted. Also checked aux pump and I'm not sure if its working, not hearing or feeling anything.. Would it come up on vat com if it wasn't working? I will ask Craig to have a listen to his, or I have a wiring fault when I did the conversion? Also this bearing I bought ages ago from VW, is it a bearing for a steering rack? Has anyone replaced one before? Or noticed any difference once they had?

Attended dub at the pub with Jez the other week, wasn't the best of shows, we were there for 10 mins and left. It also started raining.
-
Ahh, cheers. I will have a listen shortly, I hear the obd2 TB humming but didn't actually put my ear to it with the engine off.
-
Even I managed it! Cheers The new pump was £88.45 plus the dreaded The new rubbers to mount the pump are £10.28 plus the dreaded I think for the pair. Should I hear it make a noise? Cant hear anything but you can't hear much over the charger and the air /pipework for the air filer. You get a lot of air noise in the pipework because it's so long and spans from one side to the other. I've always wondered about it as a few people had issues with them working once going obd2. So how do I check for sure? The fact it leaked does that mean its working? What does it exactly do? Just helps push coolant around to ensure flow?
