I'm looking at the battery re location and running a charge cooler in this area and I have a stupid question. Well I feel stupid asking it but hey o... As I have an updated head light wiring loom and couldn't live without it, once the battery is relocated which I need to research how's its done but are there connection points in the bay to pick up a live and negative or how does it work?

I have noticed the dampening adjustment doesn't seem to be the same on the fronts. One side turns more than the other. They can still be balanced but its always made me wonder why it is. Didn't even think about longer springs- good idea. What's your latest project these days?

Ahh, that's useful to know. When we fitted the kit, it was nearing the end of a month or so of the car being in the workshop and my mech stripped 2 heads and an engine for me so I could prepare the next engine, stripped mine, all the fab and ARP's and I think we were all keen to get the thing fired up and out of the workshop. Although it's the only snag I've had and I always knew the belt had a little wobble and was more to one side on the front pulley. My own fault really. 332.4 horses is bound to show weakness in the setup but the engine still feels and sounds smooth and strong. I was reading some of the threads last night. Well until about 4am, once I start I can't stop. But a stock engine with a 1 point drop and ARP's, handle 15 psi? I'm at .8 nearly .9 of boost on a 90mm pulley, if the 80 mm went on, would that take me beyond 15 psi? Need to check the conversion between bar and psi. As we will be taking the charger off to sort the pulleys, I'm wondering to try the 80mm one. Could it be that simple or will Vince need her back to map?

They are ok really, the ride is quite a bit smoother than most C's that are quite low or on coilovers. I just need to fine tune the dampening to get the balance right now its not as low so I can enjoy some Country lanes without fearing a small pot hole will rip the sump off. I am happy its sorted now, will take it for an alignment check as they don't charge you if no adjustment is required. The spring rates were just what they recommended. Admittedly, I think the rears could be a bit stronger and therefore less dampening required as the difference between quite firm and really firm in the adjustments seem not so accurate or rather 1 or 2 clicks more and it feels much harder. Does that make sense what I'm trying to say? You got on quite with your Gaz suspension I seem to recall? First time I fitted the suspension when lowering the car back down the spring seating itself and the clanggg it made caused a heart murmur and now its like waiting for a tyre to pop its bead. Always makes you flinch.

Bought a Gruvenparts / second hand alternator pulley and ordered a new idler pulley from Gruven last night so no more plastic pulley. I also re read the obd2 conversion thread and thinking about starting again myself and deleting the wires now I know a it more and take my time. Then fit it and remove it and re wrap it. Replacing the entire ancillary loom and main loom. I picked up a really good condition obd2 loom. Or find someone skilful to do it?? Lol Might give Vince a ring and see what they would charge to sort the loom?

Cheers, thanks for your input... I can even try my plastic covers now..

Cancel that please, bought a Gruvenparts Billet tensioner pulley tonight

Each time the car goes on the ramp which is quite often.... I notice the ARB is not exactly centred. You can tell by looking at the wishbones each side and measuring the gap. You can just knock it back into centre by tapping one end with a soft mallet. But wondered why this would be? Has anyone noticed this before? It's an Eibach front ARB and the wish bones are polly bushed. The ARB bushes are supplied by Eibach with the kit so they must be correctly sized to the larger roll bar. Any bright ideas?

I had my arches pulled and simply cut off the upper section so the cut off point is literally above the bumper line and uses the lower fixing points. Still not total protection but most have then sealed or treated these areas to make up for it. That's what I did anyway. Plus you can still use the front under flaps. Also not many cars seem to have the drive belt cover which also protects against debris. Probably prolongs the life of the belt too.

Received mine, cheers Dave. Top man

You can see how tight the gap is to the fuel rail and belt/pullies

Little update, not all good news but some good some not so good.. Start with the good news first, we sorted the suspension issue on the front and Gaz sent me the correct parts and its all gone back together nicely. Steering does feel a bit sharper but there was quite a bit of traffic around. The not so good news, I heard a funny noise from near the charger and we found it was the tensioner, the belt has obviously stretched a bit and relaxed now since it was all fitted plus its been on the rolling rd etc. So we re tensioned the belt and that solved the problem and the noise went. But we noticed the side of the tensioner pulley wheel has disintegrated and the belt looks slightly off centre to the next pulley. So we need to space it out slightly to get it true, simple enough but need a replacement plastic pulley wheel if anyone has one spare? Recently I've been noticing the power seemed to have vanished and I've been noticing that the car wasn't pulling properly, this has now been narrowed down to the belt / pulley issue. Phew. Since re adjusting the belt the power seems back. It will give us the opportunity to get the pulleys lined up perfectly this time. I was always a bit dubious as you could see the belt just now spinning dead on. But the parameters are so fine with the fuel rail and bracket. Simple fix though. Talking a couple of few mm. The next issue is this ******* of an aux water pump! Hands up, I'm defeated! Not usual Ramsay behaviour but I'm not getting anywhere. I've either got a wire missing from the 42 pin plug or its all to do with the yellow plug that works the aux pump/fan. I bought another OBD2 loom and ancillary loom and wondering who I could take the car to for them to sort the loom and fit it? Happy to pay someone or take advise which company could do this. Happy to travel, just want it sorted really. Or can I send the loom to a company/individual to delete what's not required and return it? I can then take the old out and connect new and hopefully find the wires I need to get the aux pump working to connect into that yellow plug.

Good day, Need the black plastic tensioner pulley please, my tensioner is fine its just the wheel that's been damaged. Thank you Rams

Happy to report that my suspension has been sorted! The new washer they sent fits inside the counterbore of the bearing, now the struts are at the correct height and all is well.... Rams

Sorry, they were sold my friend. I have an intake tube available.
-
They look good, thanks for link. Kev, do you prefer this to the SP charge cooler/short runner?
-
This is what I received today. So I'm guessing, spring cap, bearing, washer and top mount? Will take the trust out next Monday and try these out... I'm thinking this washer wouldn't foul the bearings as it will sit in the middle of the bearings so this might work?

Has anyone tried this idea for cooling? Looks quite neat. I'm working out what to do next with cooling as I want to increase the boost/performance.
-
Get some pictures up of the rust and I can help you with some ideas, after having lots of work done to my arches.

I checked back through my posts and found it - feb 2011 is when I bought it and now if its obsolete I will probably hang onto it matey. Have you tried VW Heritage?
-
I'm sure I bought 2 from TPS, were a few pounds each. Try them first as they might still be available. If not I will have a look for my spare for you. It's the slim rubber trim...

Hi, Just a couple of typo errors, where you talk about the new engine fitted, you've said, " my the previous owner " instead of "by" the previous owner. Also fast sell or fast sale? Just to help your add. Otherwise looks very tidy, good luck

Happy to go up with someone but my car is a state, wires everywhere and trying to sort a few niggles. Should be sorted soon though
