Would appreciate some guidance here folkes, so far I have spoken to a company called HR Engineering and they are happy to tackle the AWD conversion to my VR. It's at the beginning stages but I need to start acquiring the bits needed. VR6 Syncro rear beam, Transfer box Prop shaft Haldex diff and controller Rallye boot floor or passat syncro? Custom made fuel tanks either mounted nr the rear seats Custom made drive shafts Mk4 2.8 gearbox should this be 5 speed or 6? Mk4 shifter/tower HR have given me some ball park figures and said they have done 4x4 Corrados before and currently doing a Lupo. They have a Facebook page and their website is http://www.hrenginnering.net We discussed 'Roll cages' to make everything stronger but I'm not a fan of them really. Do I need to contact the guys are Dutch dub for anything special/worth while getting? Their website is under construction currently. Harvey who I spoke to at HR suggested leaving the existing boot floor and cutting out the spare wheel section and they do the fabrication to mount the haldex and brackets with custom made drive shafts. Ideally, I would like to keep the items that are used by VW and wondered if I can use VW specific drive shafts at the rear? Or are customs ones just as good? For those who have done this modification, would I be better off buying a passat syncro or best just to buy individual parts needed? To get the haldex controller to work, is it worth me replacing any of the abs system or updating this area? Or have I got to replace the braking system/ESP? I plan to keep the 12v engine and mate a mk4 gearbox to my engine. Are there differences between the 2.8 gearbox and 3.2 to fit the 12v engine? I have someone local that could put the Rallye boot pan in, but could I do this and still drive the car to Its next destination before fitting the syncro beam etc or would I need it to be trailered? I have more questions but these can wait till I start to finalise the list. Cheers Rams

Check the driveshaft as it maybe fouling against the chassis. I had my chassis notched out to stop this. You will see a shiny line around the drive shaft if it has been catching the chassis leg. If the car is low it could be related and inline with what your saying its quite a loud noise and feeling under your feet. It will just be one side as there's more clearance on the other side with the driveshaft and chassis.

I would go and visit Chubster and get him to check the bearings, tie rod from eBay is selling those brake compensator valves for £60 or £65. Not sure on the full spec though. You've had some wide rims on before and maybe that's stressed the bearings a bit? Maybe they just need nipped up? Nice to see it with matching wheels, looked so funny seeing your car in the background looking like the rear wheels didn't exist! Sorry didn't reply to your text yesterday, I was having one of those days... Chub has a brand new ramp in the workshop now also.. Have you decided what to do about the engine yet?

Here's the glove box plastic trim strip, covers the lower 2 screws or 3? Along the bottom where it hinges. The other plastic shroud, will take a picture when I can find the old one.
-
I'm sure I could pay you in parts, cheers. R u going to National day? ---------- Post added at 1:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:44 PM ---------- Forgot to ask, there's a plastic shroud that covers the 3 sensor on the thermostats housing, mine was broken when it was removed last and just ordered a new one and they guy said have fun fitting it. Any heads up or a picture to see which way it goes on? It's probably a good thing to have it there to keep dirt away etc and noticed a few were missing on others C and some had them fitted. It was a fiver from TPS. It arrives tomorrow but wondered if I can simply clip it back on or if I have to remove stuff?

I've got my injectors available also, I'm a good salesman huh! Cross my palm with gold and they are yours.

It's a classic. When you love cars so much, the speed, torque and all the associated bits that come along, its always going to be a tricky one. You always want what you don't have. I've been down this road and I think I've finally worked out what I need to do. Your situation could be different but good friends of mine have nice cars and spent a nice fortune on them and people don't wave, no thumbs up, a generic feel and whilst smooth and comfortable after a few weeks of being a passenger you soon forget all about it. The C always pulls you back in and you have to be patient about it. The smile factor when you do blow something away is a deep feeling of smugness! Merc drivers seem extra angry when you teach them a lesson! Try and stick with it

Just to keep on with things, Noticed 2 dribbles of coolant on the on the gear box plug/grommet. Traced it back to the aux water pump. It's the original one and apart from the crack pipe everything coolant wise has changed with new. Ordered some other little parts, the glove box strip as mine broke when I removed it. eBay special for £7.99 in perfect condition. You guessed it..... Just need to have it trimmed! Bought a pair of SLC side markers, again, eBay special and a bargain price. I've read forums where people have been desperate to find them... They are the orange ones as I quite like the look and will swap my clear ones out to see what it's like. I need to find a front VR bumper so I can have these properly fitted and sit flush than how mine fix now. At the same time going to find another slam panel and have it blasted / powder coated /painted. Otherwise, enjoyed Stanford. Especially seeing the older generation lovingly cleaning and polishing their cars. I know I'm going to be like that when I'm older. You leave these shows with more motivation when you see the quality and effort that's been put in. I think I persuaded John with the ultra low mileage Green Storm to get it supercharged. He was a top man and has some nice bikes and cars. Hope to catch up with you again. Hope I got his name correct. Finally cheers to those who organised the event and got out passes out in time, we left it quite late so cheers Paul. See you all at National day, if someone wants to fit my lighting wiring loom upgrade I will happily pay you. It has the connectors already fitted but my car has a loom upgrade currently and think a wire is coming the the other headlight as it seems missing.

Ps if you will get your VR rims powder coated I know someone but also you would be welcome to run my D90's during the process. All tyres legal. So your mobile. It's not easy staying under a certain rev range, especially just under 4000 when the VR really wakes up and you know the car is rearing to go. I did it once in a golf gti back in the day and you always get some cars that want to play, when you can't! I am loving driving the car and the sound of it, thanks for the appreciation, should have said hello mate. I think a post of forum names and a picture would help when we have the meets. I'm generally not great with names.... I know your not rushing the engine work but when are you likely to have her back?
