Water temp is ok mate, mine and a friend vr, reached 110 in traffic. The oil is boarder line, if you are looking art keeping your C for a while then I would get a Mocca oil cooler or something along those lines. When the oil gets very hot it tends to break down the actual oil and if it gets too thin then it can leak through the seals giving you a problem. Best oil temperature is around 90 / 95 give or take a few degrees. I drove back from West Sussex on Sat and my oil temperature reached 124 so I backed off straight away, it was a shame as I was racing a Porsche Carrera 4, its like the one featured in bad boys but he wasnt obviously going hell for leather as I was permantly with him at 140! Just going back to you water temp, the cooler the better, so have a look at posts on here about modfying air feed to the engine induction system and try and cool it that way as a start. I am considering taking out my front fog lights and making an air feed there rtather than the one I have got under the bumper - were the mesh / plastic is. If I was to go through a puddle I could suck up water into my engine which would be a bad move. I do like the fog lights, especially the look of the c's with Side lights and fogs on, they look so wicked. It always goes back to looks or performance, to try and get the two right is very hard or just very, very expensive. Have you got a cold air feed anywhere on your C? There are 2 classic points, the removable of the cartbon canister that lives in the inner wing on the drivers side and there is also a small cover to the lefyt of the radiator fan that can be taken away to get air through that way. If you are not sure on the above then give me or anyone else a shout and they will help ya out. Be cool 8)

FurkiG60, You will get there. I was going to say mate that if it was just the outer rim that was chipped then try and just smooth the rims by sanding and polish the outer rim which would look sweet. If it os chipped on the middle then I can see how is going to be tricky. Once the break dust gets o there you wont notice it as much, well untill your rims are gleaming clean. It can make all the difference having good looking rims so I understand that you wanting them to look spot on.
-
AAIGHT, I was just trying to save you money for the same look that can be achieved by a professional company. Secondly, you dont have to polish the whole rim, just do the rim or something, so you save time and your rim/ s will look new again. Also, what I wrote was to help anyone else that may be less fortunate than you to just go out and buy a new set of rims as one of the wheels were kerbed.

The garage must be covered for this sort of accident. If you are sure that they did it then I would call the citizens advise and take it from there. If you have knowledge of where you stand it will always make your case stronger and it shows them that you are not mucking about. Secondly, ow fresh does the accident look, any signs of clothing marks or new clean paint, or anything that helps your case against them. Never settle for anything less that them reparing the car. You shouldnt even have accepted the quote for the work to be done and take a friend with you, just one mate as you dont want to intimidate them too much just yet. If all that fail then tell them that you will fire bomb their place down and hopefully the owner will still be in it and beat him up ....sorry, dont do that I was getting carried away! I would simply say, be honest and sincere with them and say, look, it was fine when I brought it in, I am a carefull driver and I love my Corrado to bits, hense why its in having modifications done. I dont have much momey, but my brother in a soliciter and would rather gets this cleared up wiythout having to bring him in. Especially as its my brother and hes very protective over me since mum died.... Just give a bullshit excuse or whatever to try and play on their nicer side to a person. Also , under no circumstances will you be paying for the chip and you want to get them to sort out the matter. Or get them to take the chip out and tell them to pay for the damage. You have to be positive and if your addiment that they have damaged it then go all the way. Look around for obvious things that could have caused the damage, i.e tight entrances, exits, anything at all and snap a picture of it. It all helps you mate. Good luck, I hope you get the result your looking for. Or all of us on the forum will team up and play baseball with them!

Sy_VW, I actually bought my C from Chelmsford in Essex! I saw the car advertised in the auto trader about 1 year ago. All I can say it was a nightmare getting out of Essex. Its the A12 or something! The traffic was terrible.
-
Sy_VW, hes got a MK3 VR6 Highline. His cars are always sweet! Next time your around give us a shout!

AAIGHT, , If you were to take any kered rim to get fixed, they would sand it back or weld a new bit in. It was only a small chip but noticible. Once my rims are properly finished I will show you a pic. They look cool now when clean and polished with Autosol or something but there is a new special lacquer that will make them look even glossier. Just have to make sure I dont kerb them or they will need re lacqured. Im going to get the ' K' for the Kahns painyted in teh same colour as the car. I paid £145 for the rims, needed new tyres all round and drove to Biester. I found them from E bay, I miss read the bid to me sale price. Drove all the way up there with a few mates and said, yep no wories, there £145! He said, that was a bid price, I want more than that. In the end, as I drove a fair way and we were sound to him he said, ok, sod it just give me that. They came off his MK3 Golf VR6. Good deal I thought. New rubber wasnt that expensive and went for 215 40's and the car handles much better and I feel more comfortable when driving it hard around roudabouts and corners than I did on the 15 " rims. If I had the money for new rims I would have still bought these wheels, they suit the car and when finished will be worth more than a new set IMO. Plus I learned a bit about polishing and spent some quality time with my C as the C was in the body shop having a new front end almost and I knew the owner of the body shop and me and a mate went back to the bosy shop each night till 2 am in the morning just polishing and sanding. The wife was going crazy at me saying I love my C more than here. I jokingly said, its a close call! Boy, that didnt go down well. I got a slap! The rims balanced up perfectly and look cool, especially at night when you get headlights reflecting on them - they just sparkle. Thought about getting those nice lights to go on the valve caps !! Joke!

Sy_VW, Mate, Bournemouth has changed so much. Its been voted one of the best attractions for night life. There are just loads of clubs and bars. Friday and Saurday nights make Bourneouth heaving! I used to Drive a blue Jetta, then a MK2 Golf GTI 8 V. You may remember the terror in the Jetta, light Blue, with 17"OZ Polaris rims and more decked on the rea flying around. Yes, I was 17 and drove like an idiot. Then more of a nutter in teh MK2 Golf as it was quicker! Simon and Nock used to drive around in their featured Blue and Golf Golfs! You may remember them.

Sy_VW, Your not even that far away! Thats a shame, well there is always the next event! 8)

Joe M, Are rear strut braces worth having IYO? I never have tried a rear brace. Do trim sport make polished rear strut braces? How much are they mate? Also, do you think the trim sport strut caps are worth buying?

I called Avo this morning and the shocks are the same except the front springs are stronger. Only cost me £55.11 delivered for their springs. So my VR will be low next week!! Cant wait! I have my small VR6 splitter ready to go on as my G60 front splitter will just hit everything! Anyone on here run Avo coilovers? I know they are not as good as H&R, Koni etc but they are basically costing me very little. I have bought my old car back from £600 and I sold it to this guy 1 half years ago for £4500. Its had a lot of work done to it, including full leather re trim, mystic blue full re spray, 17 " Still Auto Racing C's, Rallye front, flush tailgate, re bored to 1.9.lightened and balanced, full stailness exhaust with straight through middle section, Samco hoses, alloy header tank and stainless power roar, Momo wheel and gear knob, later doors, elec window, central locking and alarm. I dont know weather I should tidy it up and use it as a run around and give the C a rest or just take off a few bits and mod the C. The adjustables are going straight on, also the alloy expansion tank if it fits. Bonrath bonnett lifters too. What should I do? I have been offered £600 for the car less the shocks, expansion tank and strut brace which is eibach. These are the items I would like to have on my C, so I have made some cash too! Thats not bad. I take it the samco hoses wont fit? The rims are a classic too, I love the still Auto Racing C rims, I think they suit all Vdubs. Its a sahme they are 4 stud. May sell them to a C owner? Not sure yet.
-
Im definitely going! Hopefully the C drivers in Bournemouth will convoy up there. So far, I know 2 others that are coming from Bournemouth. What about you Bournemouth James? That would make 4! I have neaver been to this open day and looking forward to the day! I may have to leave the wife at home for this one. :)

Alternatively, change your insurer!! Slam your C!! :D

Depending how big the dent is.... I had a small chunk out of my rim and all I did was sand away the chunk till it was smooth. I used 80 grit paper to get all the kerb marks out. Likeskid, said, you almost wear out your finger prints and your hands will feel like sandpaper for weeks. Thats when having a bird that has 1000000 moisturisers helps!
-
Thats cheap! I would bit your hand off for that!
-
Is that lined polished? Or highly polished?
-
£35 sounds fat too cheap to me! Any decent place in Bournemouth mate like Wheel magic in Poole near Jacksons will charge you alot more to polish a rim. Re painting is much cheaper but polishing involves much more labour. I did mine, even with tools and getting a mate to sand blast them took ages. I recommend doing them your self. Take your time. All you need is loads of sandpaper, a spare set of rims and some nitromorse and a dremmel sander. Nitrosmorse the wheels with tyres off, sand out any chips or kerb marks till its smooth, the sand away the paint then primer then keep goinf up in down in the grades till each grade is smooth and then wet and dry and go down in the grades with that. Then applyu white polish to clean up, then buff and repeate wet and dry process till you get a really good shine then polish and buff. There is a new cleaner out that cleans and leaves the polished rims looking really shiny and it build a surface to stop the wheels from pitting. Or get them as polished as you want then get them professionaly lacqured and the gloss of the lacquer will make them look even brighter. If you were to get a company to do that then you are talking around £100 / £200 quid a wheel. I think the standard VR6 Speedlines polished highley would look the nuts! Whatever colour C you have. I have a spear set of speedlines that I may do just to sell on when finished! I have done the stage on wy rims where they need one more polish and then lacqured. You have to be carefull that you dont kerb the wheels or the water will get into the lacquer and strip the wheel and it will lokk terrible. You either clean the polished rims all the time and my rims are Kahns you would think they were easy to do, but Auto Sol takes time and effort to get them looking sparkiling. I am going to paint the Kahn badge on the rim in the same colour as my C! Call wheel magic anyway, sorry I have rambled on again as usual, but I have heard they are good. They did my friends M3 E46 Cab - the 19" rims as his wife kerbed one and he nearly had a baby but you would hardly notice it was damaged before. I will show you my rims when they are done. I would rather see you when my c is lowered which should be this weekend! I hate the high ride look on my C, I have had i the C a year on only 25 mm eibach springs but had 2 accidents 2 pay for , 1 my misses did the other me! So finally go round to tgetting shocks. Your car looks really tidy and smart by the way. :D
-
Is your power reducer glued to your water bottle tank?
-
Thats tighter than a nuns......... Cheers for that mate! spoyt on. I am just thinking, the eibach one goes up a bit at the sides. I know jogn 16VG60 has the same strut brace as the mine. It probably wont fit! Well if I get it someone with a G60 could buy it! They looks well smart and I have the original unused bolts for it. I lost them out of the pack when I first got the brace then later found them and have kept them ever since. It was fate! Joke!
-
They are the Avo Coilovers.
-
Cheers for your replies, I will give it ago and see whats what. I hope it can as its the nicest strut brace I have seen and Eibach have stopped selling that type as they couldnt get the waranty or something like that. The alloy header tank should be changable though. Its the Richbrook one with the sensor that fits in the top but there is obviously no level so I will have to keep checking the level. It should be fine as the headgasket had just been done and had all the coolant laeks sorted. Can anyone clarify if the shocks will fit?
-
I have seen the same strut brace on a G60. Are they different to the VR? Isnt the ABS unit right down the bottom of teh engine bay?
-
Hi all On my old Mk2 Golf Gti 8 Valve - d plate, I have fitted a set of Coilovers. Will these fit my CVR6? I have a feeling they will but just wanted to ask the experts! Also, the nice Eibach front strut bar - polished -, that should go on no problem? I even have the original bolts for where you drill up through the strut tops / legs. Can anyone reasure me that these items will fit? My friend fitted his MK2 coilover kit to his Corrado VR6 and his golf MK3 so I am thinking it will be fine.
-
Some of these garages have the oil in a pump container and you feed a bit of the pipe into the gearbox and release the pressure from the pump mech and when it starts to come back out again thats when you have enough oil!
-
Check that the sensor is sitting properly on the expansion tank. Mine came loose once on my Golf which gave doggy readings untill I cliped it back in properly. Just thinking of what could be causing your problem.
