  1. Supercharged, Thankyou! Its still not crystal clear about thi smod, like some people on here saying you have to mod the stricking arm and what not. Thats what I had to do so if the mod can be done which has been proven then once the part numbers have been verfied then anyone that decides to do the mod will have handles that work straight away - without having to drill and bend etc.
  2. I lie, thats the CCGB sticker. I still need to put my Forum stickers on.
  3. Where does everyone have their stickers? Which part of the car? Mines on the rear windscreen at the top in the middle
  4. Rory, They recommend that you stay at 3000 RPM or less till you engine reaches a good condition of oil temperature. Around 90 - 95 degrees is best before you start nailing it. Even when my car reached 96 degrees I still bed her in gentely untill she is the 100 mark. I always take it easy and travelling to work every morning the same cars over take me then I end up over taking them once the oil is at good temperatures.
  5. jims16v, You saxso is going to be like a bee hive! Good idea, but how do we identify who people are thats actually what I meant to say or do we just say hi, Im such and such? Maybe a samll piece of paper on the car somewhere we could have our nick names?
  6. Same as mine, it depends how cool the oil was when you started your journey and what speeds you do and what revs etc.
  7. Vey nice mate. That colour is sweet..... Its got to be on eof the best colours. The mazda seems like a nice change, get the wind in your hair and feel the rear of the car just behind you snaking around. I am a big fan of convertibles. Even thought about buying a M1 H plate tidy Golf GT1 as a summer car or something. Probably see you on the 24 if you are there which im sure you will be., I need to throw you some cash for the forum to help you out!
  8. Just make sure our names are printed on the front so nobody gets lumped from behind! Joke, sounds like a good idea. I should be spotted, my number plate is RAM 306Y, as everyone calls me Ram. Doubt I will see you there mate unless your going drive round the world?
  9. G60, I didnt think of doing it that way :D I havent had anywories with mine.
  10. Hi all How can we identify the people on this forun on the 24th for the CCGB day? I would like to meet as many people as possible and put names to faces. If anyone has got any mad ideas then let us know.
  11. Yeah G60N is right, just un hoolk the cable from behine the pedal and take off anything in the way on your engine side, i.e. any clips, engine casing if any..... then pull the cable through the bulkhead carefully and feed the new cable in and attach to the pedal and connect it to where you took that part off and you will find a clip, that hold the idel in place and pulls or slackens the cable. Its so easy, its a 15 minutes job if not rushed and make sure your ideal is where it was and that the pedal feels ok. Basically when you are on full throttle you dont want to be streaching the cable so take the clip off and slide it on the next couple of slats back so its a bit slacker. Obviously do that bit with the engine off. If you get stuck just whack an e mail on here and someone will help you out for sure mate and let us know if it made a difference then you can buy me a pint! Joke LOL.
  12. G60Jet, There is an article from someone who is German and trust me you dont want to foolow that guide. I did and it got me NO where! I will tell you how to do it or others on here, I am nearly finished doing them so it wong be long till there done. I will put up all the part numbers and what you have to do!
  13. I did try teh mod but it wasnt a straight fit. I had to cut some alloy angle and screw it to the brittke part that normally brakes. I tried bending it first and I knew it would snap so I have got 1 new passat drivers side handle with new mechs. Wetaher or not they send me the wrong year handles, but he said they were for a 92 Passat. I know you have to take the sloinoid off the old lock and just tuck it somewhere neatly. I did get the handle to work but it didnt feel right, so I took it off to try and mod if further and it just snapped again. I will cut the whole bloody door off if I cant get the mod to work or pay someone to flush the handles completey!
  14. Can someone put part numbers up for the finished result and will these be compatible with all the C range? Thanks
  15. Takoon, When you get the coolant flushed, try and get the G12 coolant from VW.Its around a fiver for the bottle and you will need a couple if not 3? I didnt see any larger sizes at my dealer...... They will need to completely rinse out the old coolant as the G12 would turn your coolant into jelly. Once you have got G12 into your system you can adD G11 but its better to stick with G12. Its a higher grage coolant. All VW,Audi comes with it as standard.
  16. Hi I called a breakers yard and ordered a set of Passat rear door handles - de locked - and went to fit them and the pin from the handle is no where near the latch that enable to door to open! I got the passat rear mechs and handles. I know from speaking to Bananman that this mod does work as hes done it and didnt have to modify anything. I am wondering if the G60 is different to the VR internals? It should be as I used teh Passat mechs too. Maybe the breeakers sent me the wrong handles or a different year to what he said? I am desperate to find out what the part numbers are and to cross reference them with the part numbers Banana man used. Any help would be so much appreciated!!!
  17. G60Jet, Mmmm, do you think they would look smart in the door cards where the switches are for teh elecy mirrors. I think they could fit in nicely and my Rockies do have some slight movement on the tweeter to angle them where you want.
  18. I was looking in my C the other day for a good spot to fit my adhjustable Rockford tweeters..... I came to the conclusion that fitting them where the electric window adjuster is so the face intowards the centre as I believe this is the blace place to project sound. I know some people that put the tweeters in teh top corners right next to your ears and talking to a ICE specialist he said that its a bad place. All speakers he said to give the best sound needs to be directed into the centre. What do you think of my idea? All that would have to be done is move the switch for the elecy windows else where. Perhaps to the right of the coin holder by the gear stick?? If anyone has any pics that would be great or if anyone has done this mod I would be gratefull to have a look. Cheers

    Horn

Could be the connection on the back of the steering wheel or the horn or the connections to the horn in the engine bay. Try the wheel first and make sure its got a good contact. Dont do what I did once, I connected the wires and put the wheel back on and put th egnition on and the horn was constantly going LOL. Sometimes, you just need to bend the contact out a bit as it earths out on the inner part of the steering wheel and can become dirty.
  20. morpheus20170, Mate, its only like I said, £20 /28 quid from VW. If you are a member of the CCGB you get 10 % off the dealers. Its not much, but it helps. I would change it!!! Trust me. If you feel it hasnt done anything, take it back. Just think, when do you think it was last changed? How often is it working, on a drive, it never stops. Think of all the race starts, flooring at 4000 rpm. It will wear and streach and every time you press the pedal it can delay how quickly it can open the throttle and give you poor performance. When I did mine, I could rev the engine and it would roar much quicker as it was opening the throttle that bit faster. You are not going to feel like the car has NOS, but you will feel the difference. Its up to you mate. Even at worse case seniro, your pedal will feel smoother as its new, unless your canble hasnt been recently changed. Do it and then e mail me!
  21. kevhaywire, Thanks for correct me. My favourite is Nescafe Gold Blend!! lol! I was only trying to help the chap out as he was not sure what temps are safe and what not..... stormseeker, Removing this part to the left of the rad will give dense / more air to cool the rad. This is what I mean. Im sure he wants more performance with doing the mod I suggested as most of us here have done something with the air box or induction kit so I was trying to get him slightly better response and a way in which he would benifit from the air ways. Also, making your C, such cooler air is a good thing, the fact that the engine works more efficently doesnt mean it will get hotter :) I think you mean if it works faster it gets hotter, but thats not teh case as the faster you go with air feeds to engine and rad then your water temp will cool down. Oil temp will increase hence why I suggest the Nescafe oil cooler. :D I believe the recommended oil temp is around 90 degrees or there abouts so 120 is to hot as Kev repeated..... the oil breaks down and can result in all sorts of problems. This weather is where we want to drive all the time and cruise etc, etc, so it got to be a great mod to do if Kev can achieve oil temps like 80 /90 in this ambient weather. His engine will be at a steady oil temp and water temp so giving th ecars engine the balance it needs. 8)
  22. The golf acclerator pedals are much softer. The car is much lighter and takes less effort to get them off the mark. The Corrado pedals are not heavy as such, I would just say they feel more refined as the car is. I changed my throttle cable and the difference it mate, not only to feel. i.e smoothness but the power was coming in a lot earlier as there cable was new and unstreached. They only cost £20 odd quid from VW, so I would recommend changing it. All these features are important, the pedal, the steering wheel as these are the only bits you get to see and feel. Well thats what im like anyway. 3 of my ,mates with C's changed their cable and they were well happy with the difference.
  23. morpheus20170, The heavy acclerator pedal is more than likely you cable.I changed mine and the difference it made. It is a series of all these little bits too that help. With in time the cable does streach so its not pulling the leaver hard enough as its slack. I changed mine and I shit you not that the car reved much better subsequently the induction noise came in a lot earlier. Its not expensive, if you can, just get it from VW, you will be glad to have changed it mate - trust me. 3 off my other mates did the same from what I said and they were over the moon, and its nice and soft to hit the pedal to the medal!
  24. Show me a pic of the rim.... It sounds like the chip mark would have looked better...LOL. You would have been amazed by the finish you get just sanding the chip away into the alloy, it took 5 minutes to get a fairly big chip out that my friend thought would need ally welded so it just goes to show ey. I have many friends who own tyre and wheel shops in the south and if you tell me the rim etc and show me a pic I will get them to order you some paint that is the same colour match. Just prime the part you need to paint with a high build primer - grey and I will make sure you get it sorted. :)
