  1. looking good mate nice to see you back with it,i recon the scirocco is a great way to lose garage space.
  2. great stuff mate, the only bit i didnt do was the carriers and drive shafts,i realy did the parts guys head in searching for every tiny clip washer and screw,i recon panic will set in if the cars outside and it rains :-) ya cant beat new parts its so easy to get back apart if you need to do anything, are you changing the calipers?
  3. cheers guys,i have never had to use a puller to push cv joints out of the hub before they just slide in and out on my 20v no problem once the hub nut is off,but they werent shifting on this, alot of it realy didnt want to come apart, that puller is just a standard two leg puller i have and it was breaking the bolts that hold the legs on,i was using this just to release the cv from the hub so i could remove the entire hub housing. to get the abs ring off you would need to press the hub out of the bearings and then take the screws out that hold it to the hub,i didnt press the new ones in andy gave me a second pair of housings with new bearings fitted and the hubs pressed back in,but on any others i have done we have a 15 tonne press at work so i just use this, i think it would be very difficult without one so probably best to take the entire hub housing to a garage. the plan is for the mrs to drive it to some local shows so we can take them both
  4. lol,if it makes ya feel any better i dont think she likes me,nearly bit me little finger off, dropped crap allover my carpet and didnt come apart willingly :-)
  5. with the parts arrived i made a start, easy bit first new grill on then oem in the garage for some action. new parts ready to go on,later discoverd the brake shields dont seem to fit a vr6,these are the same as my 4 stud rado so may have to see if theres another version still available and these will be handy spares for the other. old discs ready for the off and let the fun begin cv removal proved intresting along with the anti roll bar link. fresh hubs/bearings that came with the car bit of fresh paint and i think this shows whats needed next so a visit to vw on monday for a pair of recon calipers, threw a piston in i had spare for now as i couldnt wind it back. brakes are much better and the bearing groan is no more :-) so brake lines and some new refurb calipers next on the cards.
  6. You can't beat loads of new bolts great work the guy in my local vw garage thinks I'm crazy after the amount I spent with them, they started giving me 25% discount on bolts when I bought everyone on the entire car,my brakes bleed up fine after replacing everything..can't wait to see the progress I bough
  7. thanks all managed to finaly find an undamaged grill for the brown one and the first job for oem is to swap the wheel bearings, hubs and discs that came with it so i may aswell change the following at the same time, front pads, ball joints and and abs sensors. i fancy refitting a set of side strips but thats all to the exterior. i may well do the remaining powder coating and rebushing of the underside over winter as the underside is pretty clean anyway as is the whole car it seems a bit of a waste to have it laid up over the summer so i will just start gathering all the parts. hi mate hic were the cheapest and handy as they insure the other, they did it on a classic policy.
  8. as the years have gone on a big part of me wishes the car was oem but its far down the road of no return,i also am attatched to it so selling its not an option. so i decided to get a second one so with a big thanks to andy as this car is a real credit to his hard work i now have two corrados. this will remain oem any further work will be on refurbing the underside and continuing andys great work..so a big thanks to him! and all the best.
  9. this car is a true credit to andy and all his hard work and dedication! i am sure the number plate will always be linked to you and the work you have done as it lives on. its in good hands and will remain oem.. so thanks a pleasure to meet you and and all the best to you! cheers tim
  10. It will be worth it they feel so much better on fresh bushes etc, unfortunately I think I'm so paranoid no one does anything right I ended up doing every part of my cars rebuild, now I'm doing every part of my house rebuild,if your learning to do it yourself your probably far more dedicated to making sure its done right, good luck

    grill wanted

    still searching cheers
  12. had a run to elsecar despite the bad weather and wet feet a good little show,a great turn out of corrados roll on some better weather. just on the hunt for a standard grill as myns all stained from the buffing compound when i painted it and a few more bits of the underside to work on.
  13. lol i think it would end up been the mrs,s while i mend it,well deserved comments hopefully next time it will be a dry one
  14. congrats jude well deserved! not understanding air ride i was looking at this for a while thinking how is the cars weight not bending the wheel arch :-0 The workmanship on this was great, interior and paint were all top class jobs but that looks like its rubbing the paint..
  15. this was looking great today the wheels are so well suited to it-super clean looks perfect
  16. this is quality i can remember choosing between this and a orange clockwork in 1996,i went with the orange but wish i still had it seeing this. i have been traill riding for years and years, any advice i would give is to go ride the bike before you buy so many manufacturers frames differ in size i have had various sizes and havnt grown in the last ten years. my current bike has been a great bike its done over 2k miles on trails in 2 years, dalby, gisburn, stainburn its taken some realy hard stick and hasnt let me down once, some trails are a long push if the bike goes down for this reason my next bike will be the same again but every year the price goes up and the spec seems to come down, trek fuel. whatever your riding im sure you will have a great time its the only exercise i seem to have always stayed with.
  17. a few more pics good turn out to say the weather was so bad,i thought my own car was well massacerd from its standard form but some have had major adjustments. unfortunately i couldnt take the wet feet any longer so i left at 2,nice to meet some of you and see some of ya again.

    grill wanted

still on the hunt for a grill if anyone has one thanks
  19. cheers all been doing a bit of finishing/trim work in the boot,i was going to tint the rear lights red but keep changing my mind so i left them as is. as this car is far from original and pretty finished i realy want another aswell but just have no where to put it at moment and i couldnt sell this one to make room. so i think this years main job will be find a couple of doors to work on as these arnt 100% perfect. its tyres are rubbing the rear arch so i might need some 195/45/16s instead of the 205s or look at some 17 inch wheels instead.

    grill wanted

late spec grill wanted, need all the fixing tabs intact, also need a vw badge cheers
  23. some great work going on,good luck with the mot especialy if its a late one,you cant beat a clean underside as you say it doesnt seem right fitting rusty parts to clean ones,i developed a strange obsession with this one so im guessing wel see alot more underside refurb going on,top work.
  24. cheers guys i got it taxed and took it along to our wedding the first drive for ages didnt half feel strange i was checking the powersteering fluid etc thinking this is realy heavy to drive,i think driving modern cars is making me soft,it seems everyone near me is going crazy buying fuel at the moment theres no unleaded round here at all i had to wait ages to get some diesel ,there aint enough fuel in the rado to get to elsecar and back so if this carrys on the search is on just to get there or were in an ecomotive leon :-(
  25. great work on the repair front looking very nice and clean, out of intrest what gearbox are you using? what rpm do you have at say 70mph,cheers keep up the great work
