This is what i hoped to do when i removed mine, the job however was harder than the actual removal. managed to do 2 but no matter how hard i tried i couldn't do the others.
-
Can't imagine why if would be any different.....might be worth buying an brand new replacement one though.
-
 bit slow there Jon
-
Just discs, calipers and carriers....assuming that yours is currently 4stud?......might as well do the hoses as well
-
Yeah, definitely the time of year and crap weather
-
Valver MPGs are often talked about and the general consensus is that they are rubbish for fuel economy. Also the screen readout may not be very accurate and shouldn't be taken literally
-
Bonnet switch corroded? Small homeless dude living in the back???
-
If its bogging down my first instinct would be to check for water down the plug holes or in the distributor. If it's happening at a certain rev then it is more than likely ignition/spark related. Either that or they ballsed up the cam change and its a couple of teeth out...but on a valver i would expect that to cause a fluent problem throughout the rev range....
-
Nah, normal KR is factory tuned for 95 RON. Either way running it on either wont cause any mechanical problems
-
If its a late valver then it could have a factory immobiliser, in that case the car would start then instantly die. or maybe a key based aftermarket one??..... It must be somthing like that as like you said it will start of a bump...fook knows
-
Appears to be, yeah. Obviously this includes more than you do actually need and they don't seem to state which brand it is. I certainly wouldn't want to use a poor quality head gasket, I know you're not changing it for now though (he says whilst touching wood). Elring branded cam cover gaskets are around £15 - £20 from GSF and are VAG quality.
-
Genuine all the way on bits like this, around £20 at the moment. If you're stricken for cash the GSF ones will do the job but after talking to numerous people will only last a fraction of the time.
-
No, no other common fault. If its starting of a bump and running fine it must be an ignition switch fault,, or the cabling which is unlikely i cant think of anything else it could be.
-
If it starts off a bump start i should be 85% certain its an ignition switch problem.....basically a push switch thats on the end of the ignition barrel. around £20 from VW, and only buy them from VW as the GSF ones are cack, there's a guide in the forums knowledge base.

I can do the first bit for you! Just been out and checked, the black wire goes to the left on your pic and the white obviously goes to the right.
-
If the fan is coming then that is definately under reading, the sensor is fairly cheap and easy enough to replace.

Quite a difficult one to answer really without sounding like i'm taking the piss. Yes it will be quite hot, not as hot as a bigger engined car but still very hot....as is the nature of an engine. The oil temp sender is located at the front of the engine on top of the bit that the oil filter fits on to.
-
Yeah, i'd say around about £3500.....maybe a tad less You gotta remember that the value of the car will drop dramatically if people have to buy it and instantly spend large amounts of money on them. But the work you've done no one will have to do anything straight away. The high milage isn't that bad, you've said yourself that the HG and timing chains have been done....I'd have no problem buying a higher milage car if the owner could prove to me that work such as this has been done, as well as knowing that it'd had regular oil changes .

Thats awesome! just think though, you could get a fully restored Split screen camper for around that price.
-
Does this mean you'll still want a bonnet?
-
Current price is £344.18 +VAT  You can however get a non leather one for a MK3 for £146.86
-
Front, right side of the head....black cylinder with a couple of hoses on the front side... or you could just check your other thread http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65020

Keep the revs up to stop it from stalling
