I'd be upset at half that for two 12" fans and a CNC bracket :(

The 268's are designed to take over once the Shrick Manifold is coming off song as such higher up the range... Speaking with Vince the 263's are the best all rounders... I have a Shrick manifold but still went for the 263's... Vince drew a nice graph and explained it all whilst I was there and they seemed the best to me.
-
Shimmels are apparently the best of the bunch giving gains across the range.. they run fine on stock springs. Jim Bowen is also looking for a set... could be worth ringing Vince at Stealth and staking an interest, they might speed the order up.

Thats roughly what I've spent on my engine... about 3k-ish - but that does include the Shrick Manifold From memory.. block over bored to 82.5mm, high compression Wiseco pistons (thought I was in a hurry and standard pistons were on factory order so you could find cheaper pistons), balanced crank and rods, decked and hot tanked block - £1800 Man in the Shed (Dave) ported and rebuilt cylinder head £500 - you should be able to source a fully refurbished stock head for a lot less. Stealth late timing chain set £170 and MLS head gasket £28 - I did also go for Shimmel Cams at another £460. Few other costs would be the remaining gaskets, plugs, oil etc... but I've built the engine as I really enjoy doing it and don't have the spare cash to pay someone really, but I recon your £2.5k should rebuild your engine, but you will have to get your hands dirty, plus you get to do all the bits you want to do to make it look factory fresh! - give the block a coat of paint, get all the brackets plated or powder coated, I also had the aluminium parts aqua blasted and I've also cleaned, ported and painted my exhaust manifolds ;)

Gessss Si! - you're an absolute legend on the parts!! - I'm thinking of setting you up a counter in my garage! :D
-
Aha! Cheers Cressa! ;) I will be back soon with updates for sure! - life just got in the way a little lately :(
-
The Corrado is definitely 'proper' - and will probably spark more interest than the porker these days as you just don't see them, mine is sat on my mum's driveway until I get the engine back in it, but even so I've had 3 requests to buy it as it sits from passer by's... I'm fortunate enough to have a Porsche specialist best mate so get to go in everything from a Ruf CTR3's to a 1200Bhp Terminal Velocity 911 - but I don't see the Corrado as any lesser of a car. Just different

Yeah it would be good to get a decent picture adding feature... I dont like tapatalk much, but would love to add some picture of what I've been upto, but its just a bit of a drag now :(

It wasn't a great show... nice VR... same colour as mine.. Alpine White. Yeah I was wondering why he went for the Lotus... he even said his son liked classic VWs and he was buying to spend time with him... instead he went for the upside down fish pond. Still I expect he just wanted to drive around a bit more with the bit of totty!

Small sub, spend your money on the front speakers. Alpine or similar rear replacements will be fine for rear fill, just connect them via the head unit and amplify everything else.

Look very good!

Unless that has broken into the water jacket that could be devcon'd - its only got to hold the head gasket flat - and the MLS gasket covers it - most VR6 heads will have some degree of corrosion at that exact point. mine was pitted, not to that degree but was devcon'd and skimmed, in some cases they can be welded. Does the block have a wear mark? rust and dirt don't matter as it will be hot tanked. Also not far from "the man in the shed" is "Knight Engines" they actually work together, I took my block down and Dave examined it offered to hone it and put oversized rings in, but advised larger pistons which I went for. Are you keeping the car?
-
Chances are the engine you buy will be in need of an overhaul, hone, rings, bearings at a minimum... personally I would do that to my own engine. It surely cant be so far gone that its scrap? The block can be bored if the wear/rust is so far gone its past honing... cylinder heads can be devconed, skimmed and new valves - "the man in the shed" is very close to Stealth actually and he did my cylinder head as above (which had stood outside for 4 years) and ported and polished it at the same time.

I'd want one! for sure! ;)

Hi Red Mine is also an auto... we ll kind of, started life as one... that part comes up if search for a coil pack for it. G.

Its still available new from motor factors.. https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1993/p/car-parts/engine-parts/ignition1/ignition-coil/?413440251&1&1d4b45db1d70881618445c7f376f1d6bc9fed5fb&000197&type=shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjw7vraBRBbEiwA4WBOn7jCLeEP4KpQlBZd26nCfmpy83RzyQZCKeUwjkcS6kaVCzo3iaFS5BoCOn4QAvD_BwE I'd wait for a GSF or Euro weekend code and get 50% off.

Pretty sure a 'Pack A' is just ported... done by 'the man in the shed'
-
Yep... it is... https://www.ebay.de/itm/VW-Corrado-Nebelscheinwerfer-Blinker-US-beige-fog-light-535947699B-535941700B-/162996724813?oid=162858297912 They look good but aren't glass as far as I can see...
-
Pretty sure it's 'Sprinter' on this forum ;)
-
Open the window and drive faster... I removed mine, I'm sure there are good installers but mine was awful, if something is there it has to look right as well as work for me... mine looked lashed and had been mullered by the last owner to get to the gearbox.

Upgrade to coil pack? My Corrado is a 93 also and came with coil pack...
-
Yes it a large part that's all spot welded together, mask and spray it? One forum member plastic textured the whole part to match the grill and it looks really good IMO - makes it look like a modern slam panel. Red VR6 badges are long since discontinued... I've managed to get a rear in red and there is a chap on Facebook that remakes them, which I will probably buy if I can get my house finished and get back to the Corrado at some point. Grills are still available new, speak to Anna on here she works for VW Heritage and is really helpful. Another no from me regarding painting the door handles I'm afraid... OEM+
-
£20 for a half thorough check! gesssss... I can see as an ex-panel beater that every panel is the original, as is most of the paint and all the chassis parts I had powder-coated were date marked the same year as the car, I doubt the car has any finance on it and I know where its been for the past 19 years ;) Think I'll spend that 20 spot on beers :D

I'd like to fit a DAB aerial in the place of the standard one, but I'd like it to fit/look the same.. anyone tried one? maybe from a newer VW?
