I think the cooling system is about 5 or 6 ltrs I ant really remember. If your flushing the system your best bet woul;d be to put something like wynns rad/cooling system flush in your expansion tank run the car for 10-15 mins and then drain this gets all the s*it out off your system running cold water through wont do the complete system as the thermostat will be in the closed position you have to get the system upto temperature so that the thermostat opens and flushes the block as well as the rad and hoses. I work on the basis of around 40-50% for coolant to antifreeze ratio I dont know what the exact ratio is suppposed to be but 50% is about right I ve never put distilled water in with it though!! up until now never even heard of it!!! You can drain the system by the bottom radiator hose as this is the lowest part of the system!!! :D

Hello MUNKAY I have had the stg 4 charger and pulley fitted to my C with the same mods I have a powerflow de catted exhaust system, green induction kit when I had the jabba chip and pulley fitted last august the first thing you will notice is that the induction noise at idle is alot louder the acceleration will feel more punchy and generally it will pull alot harder than what it used to. I had mine rolling roaded at the same time just after having the chip and pulley fitted and it produced 202bhp @ the flywheel which I was well chuffed with!! If you want your I/C cleaned there was a thread on here not so long ago I think it was nigel G60Jet that started the thread i think he took his off and cleaned it with a de greaser in the end to get all the c*ap out of it!! Another worthwhile mod to think about is the isv reroute which basically means that you remove the boost return pipe from the charger you can either blank the inlet off or have a collar made (like me) and run a second induction kit. with the crankcase (rocker breather) hose you feed that to the bottom of a swirl pot and the top feed goes to the isv unit. This will prevent the loss of any boost and probably give you more boost to play with. I haven't fitted it yet but will be fitting it this week as all the parts are almos ready to be fitted to my motor

Nigel By putting 17's on your car you cantpossibly keep the same rolling radius as the original 15's on the car!! If you worked out the exact rolling radius of a 15" wheel with a 195/50/15 tyre on and a 17" wheel with a 205/40/17 profile the end rolling radius is different and with an increased rolling radius the 17" wheel will have to do less turns per mile than the 15" wheel which means that the speedo will read inacurately as the speedo is calibrated to the 15" wheel.I ve been told that with 17's on your car with the speedo reading 100mph the car is in fact doing 111mph weather that is right or not I dont know for sure butI have noticed that when doing 100mph my digi reading on the mfa reads slightly higher I know you cant rely on this but it gives an indication anyway!!! longman In the end the final decision is upto you but in my opinion the avon zz3's are a decent tyre at a reasonable cost and they dont have mass amounts off tyre noise like some other brands I ve used in the past I payed £55 each for avon zz3's from http://www.topgear.co.uk they do wheel and tyre packages as well for very reasonable prices but as I said before the end decision is yours!! Let us know the outcome of what you decide. p.s changing the profile of the tyre wont change the tyre noise as it is the tread pattern and the width of the tyre that create the road noise in the first place!!! :D

The boss I had for my c reg mk2 golf fits my '91 corrado just fine I dont know if the vr6 is the same column but I think you'll find that it will fit.

If your front engine mount was rocking alot for even a short time this puts alot of strain on your gearbox mount I bet you that the gearbox mount has gone as well which coukld be the cause for the engine to try an escape from the engine bay.Try what nigel has told you to do and see if the engine is still moving alot if it is replace the gearbox mount and that will surely cure your bucking bronco problem!! :D

Yeah I'm still going to Santa Pod!! :D I'll bring the panel just in case!!! :D
-
Hi Chris the part numbetr for the gauge panel is 536 858 201 01c you'll be very lucky if you can still find one at the stealers as they were discontinued in october last year. I bought a couple a few weeks ago and my mates at VAG had a look on the computer and said that there were only 4 left for RHD and I bought 2 of those which came from nottingham. The only other dealer in the country which has got them apparently is the **** branch (sorry classified information :D ). I might be persuaded to sell one of mine if the right offer comes up if not I'll hold onto it for a while longer. :D

I wa sgoing to look up those mystery bolt numbers on ETKA but I think your missing the last 3 digits which will make it hard to find them VW part numbers are usually 3 sets of 3 numbers -
Lucky bastid!!! which hotel is it I might have to book a room next to them!!! :D

the ratio for 2 pack paint is 3 parts paint 1 part hardner and 10% thinners you cant go wrong with that combination it's worked a treat for me in the past. Heres a little trick of the trade for smallish scratches though, I learnt this one from a body shop mate of mine what you do is touch up the scratch with until its just past the level mark leave it for an hour or so to dry and then go back to it it should still be quite soft and what you do is get some t cut and gently rub the top surface off until it is level and then leave to dry competely for a day and then give it a polish with ordinary high gloss polish the stuff you usually polish your car with and you should end up with a really neat unoticable finish

the part number is 357-121-140 if i remember correctly I ve had a couple that have developed hairline cracks and leaked but it's a pretty simple job to do it will probably take in the region of half an hour to do I reckon

I use comma eurolite which is a 10/40w semi synthetic based oil it costs about £8 with my discount :D
-
Thats normal I think the second fan speed comes in at 104degs so it shouldn't really get much higher than that unless your really ragging it :D
-
I ve heard there is also the motorsport sequential shifter available for the raddo it was in an old copy of PVW it cost £500 but that sounds really cool to me sequential gears!! MMMMMMM

You should already know by now that I am nuts when it comes to me motors!!! :) White is alright as long as you dont let the brake dustsettle for too long the best thing is to give em a spray with brake cleaner and give em a wipe over that does the trick nicely!! :)
-
I ve used hamerite metal paint smooth finish in white on my calipers they are an absolute B*itch to keep clean all that dirty black braek dust really sticks to them, I'm probably gonna paint them a different colour as it's really hard to keep them looking good but hammerite seems to be the best paint to go for it's very hard wearing and lasts for ages!!!!

Hi Dan I haven't tried it yet but this is a mod I am planning to do in the near future so if in a month or so we can get a group buy together to get the price down a bit I will be up for that providing the kit is worth having of course. I knopw that TSR have the short shift mech's for sale but they are £125 so a bit more pricey but have heard they are very good quality!!!
-
I'm having a booking form and info sent to me by Wantisden Valley camp site if people are interested we should organise a group booking we might get it cheaper that way let me know if any of you are interested!!! With a few cans of beer and a group of us it would be a right laugh camping is great fun takes me back to the days of the boy scouts round the fire singing "kumbai ah me lord kumbai ahhhhh" :D
-
try the breakers number I gave you andy they should be able to help and as you know already they are pretty decent guys!! I thought it had to be somthing simple like that but anything electrical can be hard to trace. glad you've fixed it though mate :D :D
-
coz they're all related on the fuse box I think, when my mirror fuse went (f14) the widows wouldn't work!!!!!!
-
I always do that nigel and then give it a flick on the sterring wheel and lift off to get it to oversteer its great fun!!! I pump up the rear tyres a few psi more to make the backend a bit lighter so rather than understeer I get oversteer whcih is a lot easier to control!!!
-
Ahh chris you might be right I thought the fuse was blowing when it was being put into reverse but it sounds to me that there is a short somewhere else, Andy try the the door looms in between where it goes through the chassis and the door shell if there is a bare wire lurking there then it will cause a short which will blow fuse 14 which covers the elecy windows, reverse lights and the heated washer jets. It only takes one bare wire in the whole loom to blow the fuse!!!!!
