I knooooow narthing!!!!! :D

Right andy your problem is very likely to be the reversing switch shorting out. The windows work off the same fuse thats why they aint working as they should do replace the switch on the gearbox and replace the fuse and you should be up and running again mate!!! :D

G60Jet is right the gearbox ratio's do differ from year to year the gear ratio's for the ATA gearbox which runs from 5/89>7/90 are as follows Ratios final drive 70:19 = 3.684 1st gear 34:9 = 3.778 2nd gear 40:19 = 2.105 3rd gear 39:29 = 1.345 4th gear 34:35 = 0.971 5th gear 35:44 = 0.795 reverse gear 19:9, 36:20 = 3.800 And the gear ratios for the AYL gearbox 8/90> are: Ratios final drive 70:19 = 3.684 1st gear 34:9 = 3.778 2nd gear 36:17 = 2.118 3rd gear 40:28 = 1.429 4th gear 35:34 = 1.029 5th gear 36:43 = 0.837 reverse gear 19:9, 36:20 = 3.800 And they are the same box type the 02A

To be honest scott there is going to be minimal difference between the NGK's and the bosch plugs. NGK's are the original equipment plugs used on the VR's out of the factory thats all, the BKR5EKUP's are platinum plugs which are recomended for the VR's as they have a better heat tolerance and will probably give a slightly better spark which means a little more power but they are quite expensive I think without looking I wouldn't be able to tell you the prices but the NGK platinums are likely to cost at least double what you pay for normal BKR5EKU's.

short stop mode is brill it will automatically shut off after 10 mins if you haven't returned and put the keys back in the ignition. I ve only got one problem with that function know I cant lock the doors manually anymore due to the fact I ve put passat rear door handles on it OH BUGGER!!!

Joby if you have a total closure alarm it may chirp if you have a facility on it called dual proximity this is an add on to some allarms and what it does is create an invisible barrier around the car if something breaks that barrier it will chirp if it is broken three times in a course of 30 seconds or so the alarm will think it is being broken into so will sound the alarm!!! or it could just be a naff alarm if it doesn't have this function :D :D The intellistart can only be initialised with the car running and to shut it off you have to get out the car and alarm the car, so it is impossible to leave it in gear with the intellistart initialised, I have no idea if the intelistart voids the thatcham aproval but how are the insurers gonna know about unless I tell em

:D :D :D :D :D LOL what a twat!!!!!!!!!!

I know exactly how you feel jim I am very concious of where I park my car nowadays if by anychance I do have to park in a car park I put it at an angle over 2 spaces I know this is bl**dy selfish but I dont want to have to keep paying out coz there are morons about that just luv to swing they're doors into your car!!! As for the sh*troen t*ats get them back by smearing something really nasty like dog poop under the door handles that'll show em. Or one I ve done in the past is to pour milk under tghe backseat once that stuff goes off it absolutely wreeks and is really hard to get rid of, I can see only one problem with this you have to be able to get into the car this is classed as breaking and entering which is just as bad as wrecking someones car so DONT do it :D I did it to a mate so it was alright!!! :D
-
Dave you might have been faster on the 26th but I will have the car set up perfectly on the 23rd for the next run and I will also be sporting a charge cooler as well!!! Are you coming if you are we'll have to make sure we go head to head for a laugh!!!!!!!!
-
It should be the same on all the wheels I think so 25 is probably wrong it should be somewhere between 35-38mm have you found that the tyres are wearing uneaven on the rears at all???
-
I like your style :D music covers up any unsavoury sounds!!!
-
yeah the de badgeing of the vw logo is a pain in the arse I did it on my mk2 golf manyyears ago and it took ages to get it right you'd be better off buying a de badged grille then you dont ahve all the hassle and agrot thats if you want the vw logo to dissapear of course!!!!
-
The corrado badge is a pin jobbie on the rear there's three pins that go through the panel so a plate would need to be welded onto the back of the panel and the three holes filled in and then painted, I think the VR6 badge is just a stick on job so there wont be any holes to fill, as for the VR6 badge on the front if its the same as the G60 badge it's just a push fit with 2 clips so you can just take it out and there you have it de-VR6- badged grille .

OFFSET The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. The offset can be one of three types. Zero Offset The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel. Positive The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars. Negative The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheels centerline. "Deep dish" wheels are typically a negative offset. Your local wheel and tyre centre will be able to sell you wheels with the right offset its between 35 and 38 for VW's make sure you buy wheels with 1 of these offsets it is usually stamped on the back of one of the spokes or on the inside of the rim if you get it wrong you can end up with allsorts of problems!!! If the offset of the wheel is not correct for the car, the handling can be adversely affected. When the width of the wheel changes, the offset also changes numerically. If the offset were to stay the same while you added width, the additional width would be split evenly between the inside and outside. For most cars, this won't work correctly. We have test fitted thousands of different vehicles for proper fitment. Our extensive database allows our sales staff to offer you the perfect fit for your vehicle

Go for a Clifford the Clifford concept 300 is the mid range so to speak alarm system. I have one installed in my car and the beauty is its G4 technology so you can add bits onto the system as and when you like for instance dual proximity, intellistart, tilt and motion and all that sort of stuff the concept 300 will set you back about £300 depending on where you get it from I payed £400 for mine but I had intellistart fitted at the same time as I used to have to go to work at 4 in the morning, so it was nice being able to start the car up from my bed and get ready while it was warming up!! Now it's just a pose mod as I dont have to go to work till 8 :D :D
-
Hmmm thats kinda worrying that you dont trust your alarm is it that bad??
-
Joby why didn't you go for the passat rear handles if you have total closure, they cost alot less than standard corrado handles and they're delocked as they are the rear door handles. I replaced both handles and mechanisms for £60 and that was using 2 new handles from VAG and 2 mechanisms from a vw breakers I am well pleased with the results they look alot smoother without the lock barrel and if in future they do break again a new handle only costs £20 instead of £65.
-
I would go with 195/45/16's with an offset of 35-38 as Roddy says you shouldn't any problems with them. 195/45 is the average tyre width for 16's which means that the tyres will be cheaper to replace if you ever have to. You will find if you fit 205's they will roll with the road alot more because of the width of them thats just my opinion though!!!
-
You know I'm gonna be there Darren sporting your charge cooling system and a few other bits by then!! :D Are you still up for camping should be good for a laugh I looked on the gti inters web page and it looks as though the camping facilities aren't actualy on the grounds which suprised me!!!

Would Black or dark alloys suit a Pearl Green C?
Banana Man replied to Jon TDI's topic in General Car Chat
Personally I hate black chrome or anthracite wheels on most cars, in my opinion chrome, silver or white wheels would look great on your car!! But it is a question of personal choice everyone to their own and all that!!. If your not sure about how they would look on your car go to your local wheel and tyre store and see if they have the black wheels that you like in stock and if they do ask if they could square them up to your car they will probably do this if they think they can make a sale. -
I did mine myself in black smoke spray it's made by folia tec and places like halfords sell it they do red as well as black it costs about £13 the end result wasn't bad you just have to take your time in cleaning them properly making sure they're free from dirt and moisture, I took mine off and sprayed them it's easier that way.
