  1. Either or more depending on what horrors are found when you get in there but the 4 hour quote is living in the land of the fairies and is direct from the ELSA self generating labour times and based on a brand new car with zero miles. Even the £1200 quote is optimistic and won't cover the timing chain problems that they are bound to discover. Also, if you remove a VR6 head, it is lunacy not to change the exhaust valves and guides, replace the lifters etc etc. By the time you add it all together, £2900 odd for a complete new engine begins to sound good, until you add the labour and parts required.
  2. The extra sender is for 9A and PL engines, either remove or ignore it.
  3. If you are running Leon discs, you could use Leon carriers, as I don't think they are too pricey.

    ABS Light probs

That because you lowered the car and didn't back off the rear compensator so the compensator thinks you have two hulking great chaps in the back and what is actually happening is your rear wheels are locking up slightly and triggering the ABS.
  5. Absolutely old boy! There are conditions such as not on top of other discounts or on genuine VW parts but by and large, yes.

    Polo Service

I stay well clear of eBay, it is a breading ground for all types of illegal goings on, the time will come sooner or later when the powers that be will put a stop to it.
  7. An absolute minimum of 2 bar, 2000 rpm at 80°c oil temp using 15w/40 oil but I like to see 3 bar.
  8. With your Corrado forum discount, £126 including VAT from C&R but + a little P&P.

    Polo Service

Lupo 6X 99 my Service interval display: Resetting Function The service interval display electronics is comprised of, amongst other items: a time recorder and two distance recorders. The electronics evaluates both recorders so that the customer is informed after a predetermined time period is exceeded or or after a predetermined distance is reached via the service interval display that a service is required (according to whichever occurs first). Service interval display Between services, only the total distance and distance travelled (trip) is shown in the odometer display -2-. If a service is due, the following appears in the trip recorder display -2- below the odometer reading: With the ignition switched off: "service" The type of service required will be displayed after switching on the ignition and for up to approx. three minutes after starting the engine. (Service table). Note: The display switches back to "service" when the engine has been running for 3 minutes. Service table Service type: (display) Service: Odometer and service OIL Oil change service every 15,000 km (approx. 10,000 miles) or: Odometer reading and service INSP Inspection service every 12 months or every 30,000 km (approx. 20,000 miles) (whichever occurs first) One or both service types must be reset depending on which service was completed, therefore: If a "service OIL" (oil change service every 15,000 km) is carried out, only "service OIL" must be reset. If a "service INSP" (inspection service every 12 months or every 30,000 km) is carried out with oil change, "service INSP" and "service OIL" must be reset. If an "service INSP" (inspection service every 12 months or every 30,000 km (approx. 20,000 miles) is carried out without an oil change, only "service INSP" must be reset. Reset the display as follows: • Switch off ignition. • Press and hold button -1- below the speedometer. • Switch on ignition and press button -1- (min. 10 seconds) until three dashes appear on the display ( - - - ), or the next service due appears in the display. Only then is the service reset. • Release button -1-. • Switch off ignition. The original single journey mileage will be displayed again after the service interval display has been reset. Notes: • Note that only the actual display shown can be reset. • To reset a further service due, repeat these steps.
  10. Vibratechnics front mount
  11. Possibly a faulty oil pump with a jammed relief valve, maybe it has the wrong number four journal upper main bearing, the only way to tell is to strip it down.
  12. That's a pain! You will need to remove the bracket from the block and the mount from the subframe, work the assembly out from under the car, and work on it at the bench.

    ABS Light probs

Water in the ABS ECU, which is in the left hand side, kick panel, extremely common.
  14. No as PhatVR6 rightly says, the front bar will not fit as the link is bolted into the bar from below rather than slid over from above the wishbone.

    Gearbox oil

Why add a magnet when one is built into the gearbox? VW part number 084 301 143 A.
  18. The bearing quality isn't an issue, it's the morons who hammer them in as if they are working in a medieval forge. I have never had a premature front wheel bearing failure in 25 years and the quality of bearings from GSF and ECP is fine.

  20. The oil pump is over pressure (above 5 bar) but have you had new main bearings recently?
  21. Sounds like Poly V belt noise but that is at the wrong end of the engine. Take it to the garage that did the work or someone else who knows the vehicles and get an opinion.
  22. Keep the suitcase and not the torpedo.
  23. For Christ’s sake do not use a pattern matrix, buy a genuine late Golf 3 matrix from the dealer, the pattern matrix from GSF whether branded Valeo or not are utter crap and fail again in no time on the VR6. I am prepared to go out on a limb here and say that, knowing that GSF and Valeo would come back at me over it if they dare, they dare not because I have proof!. Also, if a genuine matrix fails, VW will do the whole job for free including parts and labour even though the matrix was fitted elsewhere, that’s right, you fit it and it fails, they will change it. The usual cause of matrix failure is the electric water pump behind the coil pack or distributor depending on the age of the car. It takes over a day to change a matrix and it is a git of a job so please do not fit a pattern matrix or else, like one of my customers, you will fit three before fitting a genuine unit.
  24. The A2 manual from Bentley doesn’t cover a great deal about the 9A in relation to a Corrado that’s why the Passat book is better.
  25. I have never had any problems with Jabba maps but over fuelling on a G60 is often the blue coolant temp sender.
