I remember going through all the same thought processes as you when I was looking for grey leather Recaros in 2005! I ended up paying around £700 for a real scruffy pair in 2007 and tidied them up with a Furniture Clinic restore kit. I then had everything re-trimmed in 2018. A pair from a Ford could be had for about the same money in those days as they are today, unlike the Corrado version which has at least doubled in price! Of course they were a very rare option in the day due to the insane cost. Hang in there, you’ll turn some up one day.

No problem Martin, glad to be able to help, lets hope it does the job now. There must have been another issue in the post you put up last night from Serial that was keeping the ECU from switching the fuel pump.
-
Sorry, bum steer there! That must have been a new record for me getting the fuse box out and back in again as well as opening the ECU plug to check the wiring just to find that I was mistaken earlier and when I'm not laid in the footwell looking in a mirror the wire in G1/3 turns out to be Yellow/Blue and goes directly to T68/6 at the ECU. The black wire is in G1/4 and that goes to the coil pack on the wiring diagram.See photo for confirmation. All goes to confirm that the wire you're looking at from the ECU should be connected there, I don't suppose the donor Golf had an immobiliser fitted that was wired into the fuel pump?
-
Did you get any further with this? I've had a look this morning (mirror on a stick and head torch!) and the wire coming out of G1/3 on mine is black too but it disappears up into the loom behind the fuse box and I lose it. I've checked all my notes and drawing mark ups from the OBD2 installation and I've made no comment there, I even highlighted the yellow blue wire at the time to mark that I've installed it, and all the drawings I have show it going from G1/3 at the fuse box to T68/6 at the ECU via connector T2b behind the fuse box, no mention of any black wire. I did mine in 2011 so my memories of it are a little hazy though. I can drop the parcel shelf and pull the fuse box out for a better look later on if you haven't found anything, I haven't had it out of the car for whole weeks now! I'm sure there's a simple answer in there.

Schrick inlets are available in OBD1 and 2 variants, only the fixing flange for the throttle body varies between them. I had an OBD1 Schrick on my car before and looked at buying a new inlet elbow for it when I made the swap to OBD2 but I was quoted £450 for the new part so sold the manifold on. With hindsight that was probably a mistake! I've looked in passing at the VGI inlet manifold that was fitted to the late 12V OBD2 VR6 motors in the States when Europe got the 24V but it moves the throttle body to the left side of the engine bay which of course brings more complications with it that I probably don't need.

Nope, can’t happen! -

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s worth every penny, I’ve long thought we undervalue our cars. I try to think of reasons to justify buying another one but unless I match six numbers tonight it’s highly unlikely! It sounds like a fantastic motor for somebody. -

I spotted that on his drive a couple of days ago, it’s just around the corner from my house! 8 grand’s a few mortgage payments though so I’ll have to pass! -
Blue M plate, parked on the drive at a house in Cuckney. Must only be 200 yards from my house! Anyone on here?

Now that is a blast from the past!

Just think of it as welding practice 😉

The servo was bought from online car parts but arrived in an autodoc box https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/ate-191796.html It's a genuine ATE one which is what I was looking for, I was struggling at the time to confirm the part number but took a punt and it was fine. I sold my Schrick when I went to OBD2 as it was OBD1 and the adapter piece was a fortune. I've never come across a later one, although I haven't looked hard, I was always struggling for space when I had the huge old Passat a/c condenser fitted as I had to move the radiator back a bit into the bay which then caused issues with the Schrick. I've got a Golf Mk4 condenser nowadays so could get some of the space back if I really needed to I guess. I did consider the US style late Golf VR6 variable inlet as it's a direct OBD2 fit but then the throttle body's on the wrong side so a whole new world of pain! I'll get some photos of the rear beam pipework later, the bias valve is bypassed but currently still there because I can't get the bolts out.

I started doing a write up when I fitted mine but haven't finished it yet, of course I was planning to tax it 1st April and give it a test run first before I committed to it being fixed but it's still on sorn, no point taxing it to sit in the garage is there? I followed a post by P3rks for a lot of it https://the-corrado.net/topic/71162-teves-20-abs-system-parts-list/?tab=comments#comment-867292 I should probably have read his bit about the lamp better too but that came later. For the bracket, yes I did just what you're saying i.e. cut the back plate from the Corrado one and the top plate from the Golf one. I welded the Golf section to the Corrado one having used the pipes from the Golf to give me a measure of where the pump needed to fit. Once painted and bolted in it looks like it belongs there. For the lamp, I initially thought I'd use the golf one with the Corrado lens fitted but the housing is just too big to fit the dash without butchering it. I bought a Passat lamp from Lithuania on eBay, which turned out to be the wrong Passat one! So I bought the right one from Germany on eBay. You're looking for the 3A0 919 235 AF, not just the A as that, like the Corrado one, will come on continuously. The Corrado lens fits on it and you'd never know it was different. I made my own wiring up pinning the plugs to match what it needs, note that as with the Corrado and Golf the wiring for the lamp all goes to plug X on there relay plate: Lamp Pin 2 (31), Brown wire to X/2 Lamp Pin 3 (15), Black wire to X/4 Lamp Pin 4 (ABS), Yellow/Red wire to X/5 Lamp Pin 5 (EDL), Grey Green wire to X/3 I had to snip the wires to the airbag lamp in the housing as that came on and stayed on permanently with the ignition on. The VSS block is on the top of the relay plate, all the speed signals are taken from that one place, you can't miss it as there will be a number of blue/white wires plugged in together. Everything now seems to work fine, VCDS reads no faults and the lamp comes on then goes off exactly as it should when I start up. With it running, if I disconnect a sensor the lamp comes on and the code reads correctly in VDCS, just need to drive it now to be 100%. I've got some new rear callipers coming this week and then I'll try it down the drive and see what happens. What are you using for a servo? Mine came without one so I bought a Passat one from autodoc, the studs on the Corrado one aren't in the correct alignment for the Golf/Passat master cylinder anyway. I know people have used the Golf one but others have said that the modifications required were questionable. Also, I don't know if it's because I have OBD2 also but the fluid reservoir sits forwards at a bit of an angle and the lid is just rubbing on the throttle body inlet pipe, I'm going to look out for one of the earlier rubber ones to see if that can be made to fit better or one day I'll find it's rubbed through. I tried attaching a couple of files here but it's not working, I'll try message them to you after.

None came out of the factory with 288s as far as I’m aware. They only just squeeze inside the standard Speedlines, you have to be careful where the balance weights go or they get jammed between the rim and calliper, wouldn’t be good for a standard set up!
-
Too right with the Ventos, they’re the perfect wheel for the Corrado. Shame the 16” 2110 doesn’t come in 5 x 100, I’ve had 17s in the past but would prefer 16s, better compromise for me.
-
If they’re not what you’re looking for, I’ve been after a set for years 😉
-
I thought about it Hasan but I only have standard M8 and M10 helicoil kits kicking around, I didn't take the nipple out but I'm fairly certain they're a fine thread? Plus as I said, they're only a scruffy pair I picked up on eBay when I was first messing with the Mk4 set up, there are refurbed sets for £99 a pair so I thought I'd just pick one of those up.
-
I so much want to do this job but at the same time so much don’t want to take the relay plate out again having gone through that pain two more times recently. In all it must have been out of my car a couple of dozen times! I would expect the special tool is a de-pinning tool, I’ve made a couple using the flat spring steel strips from a wiper blade and very careful use of the bench grinder. I got the idea from this guy
-
I’m not going to let it get me down, Teves 20 installed and an ABS light that actually goes off now, I can live with buying a new pair of rear callipers as they’re only a scruffy pair of Mk4s off eBay. Glad I never got around to sending them to Bigg Red over the winter, then I’d be a bit miffed!
-
Bumper, grill, lights all back on the front. Bled brakes , stripped thread on right rear bleed nipple, new calliper required! It’s not like I was going to tax it 1st April this year after all.
-
Mine weren’t the recaro ones as they were unavailable at the time, I bought some totally on spec assuming they’d somehow fit. I think they’re Mk4 Golf although I didn’t check the part number, just the size. I did have to swap the plugs but I can live with that!
-
I managed to pick up some new elements for my Recaros before getting them re-trimmed. They weren’t cheap however. There seem to be lots of kits around these days but they generally seem to use carbon mats rather than the copper wire elements found in the Corrado, I was led to believe that the controllers aren’t compatible with these.

I have three various flat 5 pin connectors but not the 191906231D, over to easypops to see if he has one. Disappointingly I also can't find the 6 pin I'm looking for to connect up my Passat ABS lamp, it does only require 3 of the cores so I might end up hacking a 7 pin plug up to get the light wired in, I can always swap it out later!
-
I might do, although not until after it actually works!
-
Are you sure it's a 5 pin at the ABS light? Mine has a 7 pin plug, which is a shame as the Passat B4 lamp I'm wanting to fit in has a 6 pin socket. Going to be digging in my wiring loom box tomorrow see if I can find one, if I come across a 5 pin I'll give you a shout!
