  1. If you prize the windscreen vents up on each side you’ll find the clips holding it in, comes out easily then. As soon as I opened it I remembered, last time I was in there was over ten years ago when I fitted the UV sensor for the climatronic! Could be a bit bumpy flying in today, I’m flying offshore in a chopper tomorrow, guessing it could still be a bit breezy on the helideck for that too.
  2. My dash is on the floor under the Corrado at the moment, I’ll take a look if/how it comes out in a bit once the wind drops and I can dare to open the garage door! There isn’t a speaker behind it if that’s what you’re looking for.
  3. I don't know how I missed this at the time, just ordered one so we'll see what it's like! Thanks for pointing it out.
  4. A mate of mine bought a 911 Targa from a dealer in California, arranged everything on line for collection from the dealer, delivery to the port, shipping to UK and collection from Folkestone to Chesterfield. I can ask him how he fixed that up if it’s any help?
  5. Yes sorry, possibly not too clear what I’m concerned about. The plastic ends of the standard one have some bosses in the front for self tappers, I use these for the condenser brackets. If they’re not there or if the overall dimension is any thicker I’m going to struggle getting everything in there!
  6. Has anyone tried the AKS Dasis radiator? I've seen a few of them for sale and they seem to be the only current option as a direct replacement. I'd go for an alloy rad but am concerned that if it's any thicker than standard or doesn't have the same auxiliary fittings then I'm going to have trouble mounting the a/c condenser as I'm already fairly short of space.
  7. I’ve long said we undervalue our cars, but I’m not convinced that 40K is realistic, even for such a rare model. Be interesting to have one back in circulation though, I’ve only ever seen one in the flesh in my 25 years of Corrado ownership!
  8. There looks to be a lot of steelwork there that's going to make it sit high in the car. The genuine ones are flat bottomed, bolted directly to the base which then fits into the runners on the car floor. I've tried attaching photos of mine but having no success at the moment.
  9. There's some discussion on seat wiring here, plus the very simple wiring drawing http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?57847-Wiring-in-electric-recaros
  10. I remember that spring, it was almost as if VW wanted to install ejector seats! The recaro base locates directly into the rails on the floor as you suggest, these are a standard rail across the VW range, I fitted a seat from a Mk3 in mine when it went to the paint shop and the interior was being trimmed but I did have to cut and weld the base as it was about 50mm wider than the Corrado fit. There used to be somebody on here years ago selling recaro looms which is where I got mine from. It’s quite simply a 12V +/- feed from the fuse box though. I’ll try and work out where it terminates at the fuse box as I have the drawing somewhere. It’s totally separate from the heating circuit though. The electrics are for height and recline, there’s still a release lever for the seat back, in fact there’s one on both sides with the recaro although they don’t double as holders for the seat belts like the standard ones as the lever is almost flush. The Scirocco base might be a good call, there was probably a similar requirement to keep the seat low. Are they any more available than Corrado bases though, I’ve never looked for any?
  11. The larger size might get too big in the car though, I like that the Recaros taper to the top and overall look smaller than the boxy standard seats which in turn makes the interior look more spacious. Corrado Recaros had a heating option, mine didn't have it when I bought them but as my original seats did I had all the controllers already so bought heating elements from a Mk4 when I was having them trimmed. They had to be modified a bit as the Recaro cushion and bolsters are separate parts whereas the standard VW seats have a single base so the heating element has wings on the cushion section, I cut these off and soldered up the gap in the element. You do have to be careful when buying heating elements though as everything modern uses carbon fibre mats whereas Corrados use copper wire elements, I understand although can't confirm that the old controllers will not run the new elements. The original Corrado seats have height adjustment but it's in the base rather than the seat, I've never used them anything above fully lowered though so it is mainly for pose value, along with heating elements in a car that is SORNed October to April really! I'm sure it would be possible to fab something to do the job with Mk2 bases maybe, making them low enough might be the difficult part.
  12. I checked the dimensions of the small seat against mine and they’re pretty close, the sides do look a bit deeper though and the trim isn’t quite the same, as in it’s stitched in a different pattern. The things you’re not getting are the bases and of course the electrics......but other than pose value, the electrics only bring weight, I took mine out of the car last week and carried them upstairs to the spare bedroom, glad I don’t do that regularly as they’re very heavy. If you really want recaros, it depends on how long you’re prepared to wait, I hung on for three years to find a pair of fronts in grey, and once I got them I was never happy with the colour match so ended up getting a full retrim in the end, seats, heating elements and new leather cost almost £3.5K, makes new ones a bargain!
  13. I had my rack done at Power Racks Direct, see this thread for more details http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?107785-Steering-Rack-Refurbished&highlight=steering
  14. I've just started installing the Teves 20 ABS and realised I don't have the brake servo in the pile of parts, should have noticed before I removed the old loom really! Could anyone confirm the part number for the Passat item, I believe it should be 358 612 107B but am open to suggestions of alternatives. Cheers
  15. Taken the dash out......again! First time was when I fitted the Climatronic, second time was for the OBD2, this time it's Teves 20 ABS. No plans to ever do it again!
  16. I waved to a blue VR6 driving into Edwinstowe from Budby at the weekend...... I was in the Freelander though! Good to see one out at this time of year.
  17. Crookes Road, Sheffield this morning, N494 I think, blackberry looking good in the sunshine!
  18. I'll vouch for Royal Steering Wheels, made a great job of mine and not a lot of money.
  19. Potentially some available in December is the latest update I had. I’m SORNed now so it’s no longer affecting me but can see this causing issues for some.
  20. Probably just put it away for the winter. Tax runs out end of the month and the weather’s forecast wet after today so guess that’s it. Plans for the winter include Teves 20 install, brake callipers refurb and build an extension.......which may result in lack of budget for anything much Corrado related. Back on the road 1st April.
  21. Blue M reg in Cuckney tonight just before 17:00, heading towards Newark. I was on my bike waiting for the gate to open, pointed at you and shouted "Corrado"......not that you would have heard!
  22. Yeah, good thanks, yourself? Done a fair bit of restoration the last few years, new leather, new paint, lots of new bits, I’m still running the climate control and obd2 I bought from you, are you still breaking motors, could use a Passat B4 ABS lamp if so!!!
  23. Hi Carl, some thread resurrection! How are you keeping, not seen you around much? I’ve this one 19 years and 1 day. Had the first one 5 1/2 years before that so you’ve just pipped me!
  24. Ours was a daily driver for the first eight years and eighty thousand miles we owned it! Timber on the roof rack, rubbish to the tip, kids to riding lessons in muddy fields, holidays away...... it did it all. Been a garage queen the last eleven years though. My mantra was always “you’d do it in a Passat estate, why not a Corrado???”
  25. I'd forgotten all about Chufties! Driving home from Newark a few weeks ago along the A616 and a bike came down the outside of the line of traffic I was in, slowed down alongside us and had a good look at the car, pointed at it and gave a thumbs up before pulling away again, big smile on my face!
