  1. How long have you been waiting to say that then Dom?!!!! Maybe I need to get an idea of how many people are going to be there sat night and start brewing it in bulk!
  2. I'll be there and my car is definitely not a show winner, I'm hoping the forum stand is going to be just a place where we can all meet up and show strength in numbers! And as for the rumbongo, I'll make up a new batch to let the people of E38 into the magical secret!
  3. Cheers gents, I am rather pleased with it even though it was not the cheapest option. It was $840 for the system and delivery for the extremely nice people at Schimmel Performance, and then I had to pay £80 in duty & VAT when it made it to the UK. So about £500 all in but well worth it if you ask me. 8)
  4. Ok well after months of gentle blowing and various holes with various repairs, it's finally come time to get rid of the original exhaust off the VR and replace with something a little bit special. Namely a Techtonics Tuning full stainless system with dual Borla mufflers all the way from the US of A! :D It's a 2.5" full bore straight through mandrel bent system with no crimps or other dodgy stuff to stop airflow. Not cheap but ideal for when I finally get the turbo on it. So the old 'suitcase' mid box was looking fairly unhealthy, And after a few mins (i give up easily!) of the old hacksaw it was over to something a bit more heavy duty! Luckily I had the old man around to give me an extra pair of hands in a bit of a tight spot and the rest of the system came off without a problem. Then this bad boy had to be fitted, and tbh it was a lot easier than I was expecting. Maybe it was just because it was so well made or maybe I was just lucky but it seems to have lined up and apart from a little blow at the point where the new system meets the cat it's all working perfectly. So before fitting, And once fitted Obviously I'll need to sort that crack in the bumper now.... Sounds good, nice rumble from idle to about 3000rpm then a nice bark. But when cruising its OEM silent which my Dad was a little shocked at  When we were fitting we decided to weigh the old and new systems to see the difference. Old system weighed in at 21KG but amazingly the new system weighed in at just 9.5KG! That's he kind of figures I like! 8)

    What Oil

Well the Halfords 5W-40 fully synthetic stuff that I used last weekend has been pretty good so far, plus as the current offer means you get 10L for £31 it seems like a bit of a bargain. Plus, in the original corrado owners manual I've got for my vr I notice it recommends the 5w-40 which I was a little surprised at!
  6. Rob - car is looking good. Did you send the details into PVW or did they just hound you in the street?!!! so when is the charger finally going to be fitted then? Looking forward to seeing it at E38 in all its glory.

    What Oil

thread revival!!!! sorry, just wondering if 5w-40 fully synthetic will be ok for a VR? just been to Hellfrauds and they've got own brand on BOGOF and need to do a oil change. Did ask the guy on the desk (risky i know!) and 5w40 was coming up on there computer as the fully synth option for the VR6 but i thought i'd check with you guys first.
  8. Don't forget mate, if she ever asks its just expensive, but vital, routine maintenance that requires it to be off the road for a few weeks...... definitely not a engine conversion!!
  9. I had one mate, a 3 dr 200 W-reg. Amazing car and I'd definitely have one again. As already mentioned they come fully loaded and is a very capable car, good handling/brakes/safety equipment/audio/air-con etc. but the engine which is excellent when its just you and a passenger can feel a little underpowered if fully laiden. I just made sure I never had anyone else in it! :D Lights are xenons and amazing quality, auto level adjustments and have that cool moment when you first turn them on where they warm up! Bad points - gearbox and pedal box are known weaknesses, pedal box was a recall so should have been fixed. Gearboxes I think are just a bit weak. Original alloys - outer lips corrode like no ones business! Get them refurbed or go up to 16" rims like they always should have been. Can't praise them enough and I only sold mine because I couldn't justify having a 7 grand car on the drive when I only do 50miles a month. Would definitely have one again though 8)
  10. That's so cool! plus the SFA are one of the all time greatest bands...... in my humble opinion. As for mascots, nothing. Like the interiors on my vehicles to be clean and clutter free.

    Wheel Colour Q?

Changed my mind, orange with the polished rim looks good.

    Wheel Colour Q?

Well I say go for it then mate. If you like it then who 's to tell you otherwise. 8)

    Wheel Colour Q?

Well I have to say that the silver option would be my fave. The orange just looks odd, the white will be a nightmare to clean and I'm going for black! As for those black with red lips..... have you been smoking something you shouldn't have? :?
  14. Cheers guys, I must have missed that last screw. I'll try again later
  15. I removed all the screws for around the door trim, the inner door grab handle and door pull, all the clips along the bottom edge but it still won't come off. Am I missing something?
  16. Morning all, quick question. I want to change the front door speakers in the C, had a go last night with little success so just wondering if anyone can tell me what I need to do? It's a late interior VR if that helps. Cheers guys
  17. I think the yellow wire is for the oil pressure switch, which has probably just got that extra connector on it as the same wiring is used on another model with a second switch. It's probably never been connected to anything ever, don't worry I think everyone has a similar connector that appears it should go somewhere on their C. I've got one near the fan, has no purpose what-so-ever. :?
  18. How are your plugs/leads looking. Recent run of wet/damp weather could be causing it to play up if the leads are not 100%. As Toad says, ISV is the part you've taken off, get it off and soak it overnight in petrol or flush it through with carb cleaner, (only thing with carb cleaner on the older ISV's is that if you use it too many times it can degrade the internal seals) Dry it off and spray with WD40, replace and see how it goes, although I'd have thought that would show itself more at idle than at about 2000 rpm... As for MAF, the 16V air flow meter sits on top of the airbox and it's more a mechanical valve than an actual sensor like of the VR's. I've never worked on one myself but I'm thinking it might be a good idea to have a better look at it, see if it's got all crapped up or something. Hope this helps.
  19. blue temp sensor sits in the thermostat housing and is the feed to the ecu on water temp. the ecu uses this to judge fueling for cold/warm/hot running temps. Common fault on them across the vw range is for them to fail and ecu thinks the car is always cold, not a problem until you're up to normal running temp and then the ecu is still trying to pump in more fuel because it thinks its cold, effectively flooding the cylinders. Someone with a better knowledge of ecu or engine management will not doubt be able the explain it better but basically you end up with reduced fuel economy and rubbish idle. They're pretty easy to change and only about £8 from GSF so may be worth doing anyway. Hope this helps.
  20. Well you must be feeling a bit better now then eh Stu? Back to thinking about mods!
  21. I think it's going to be your MAF thats playing up. ISV problems will usually present themselves from a cold start or if you're pulling up to stop and put your foot on the clutch. I was always told that hunting was more a sign of MAF problems, although hopefully someone will be able to confirm this? Can't remember whether you said you'd already changed the blue temp sender? If this has gone the ecu won't be able to recognise when the engine is hot/cold and adjust fueling accordingly, ie.. the ecu could be over-fueling at idle when warm.
  22. Cheers mate but I can't take any real credit for it, she just came out with it. I was amazed! And as for the garage, I think you'll agree that its just vital. Not really bothered about the rest of the house tbh!
  23. The girlfriend has moaned about the Corrado pretty much since the day I got it, not so much the car itself but more the way it looks, and even before then when I was only looking for one she still moaned! But sat in the lounge last night discussing the fact that if we move I want a house with a big garage so I can work on the car because there was no way I was getting rid of it. I was expecting stiff opposition and had a great arguement ready about the fact that it owes me nothing and it's a future classic etc so i'm keeping it no matter what, and to my surprise she agreed with me! She went on to tell me that she'd been sat looking at it while I'd been out at work the other day and decided that she now can't help but love the way it looks! :D I'm still in shock
  24. Maybe it's because all us careful corrado owners are religious in our maintenance of the service schedule? :? Ok so I'm grabbing at straws there but you should get another one, as people have said save one from the brink?? :D
  25. That's the stuff of dreams there Rob....... 789miles on one tank  . As you can see in the pic I didn't do too badly on that tank. Averaged 31mpg but I have been driving like a granny in a vain attempt not to break anything else!
