  1. Just wondering what pads you guys running 4 pot calipers are using? OEM, Fast Road, Race pads etc? I'm not running AP Racing CP5200 4 piston calipers with yellow stuff pads but the pads have terrible low speed performance and initial bite. Fine in hard braking but since I don't drive on the edge all the time that's not really much use to me! Was hoping to change over to Pagid RS15's, recommending by Mr Wire, but at £200+ a set I think I'd rather get something a little cheap to run around day to day with and keep the really good pads for trackdays.... so just thought I'd find out what others are using on a daily basis. Cheers Mic
  2. I'vehad reds in the past, and i've got yellows now. They're not completely rubbish.... if you really apply some pressure they stop really quite well. Trouble with the EBC pads is they are plagued by rubbish initial bite and low speed confidence.
  3. Cheers mate, that's because we've had no snow since I cleaned it the other day. Only had about 2cm in total in Cambridge and the only reason it's still on the works carpark is because it's a bit out in the open so it's not melted! I want snow :(
  4. Yeah I think you'll be ok, my first set I had were in 2007 and I've had no issues since. As for wear rates, I get through a set of fronts in 8k miles. Thats usually including a trackday and plenty of 'enthusiastic' driving. No idea how they compare to the uniroyals. Feedback wise I'm not sure how good any tyre will be at that price but I still quite like the Toyo's. Seem predictable to me and at a trackday in 2008 at Snetterton I was the only C not to visit the grass at some point and that was with Toyo fronts and Bridgestone rears. Best I've had on mine for feedback were either the Conti Sport Contacts I've just replaced with the Toyo's or the Goodyear Eagle F1's I went to the Nurburgring with.... so much grip, but expensive in 205/50/15 size I'm afraid.
  5. Does this count? Car parked in the furthest most recesses of the work car park on, what appears to be, the only bit of snow left in Cambridge :(
  6. Another shout for T1-R's. Had a couple of sets on the fronts on the old standard speedlines and although they do wear a little quick they've always been pretty grippy, also survived a couple of trackdays as well without putting a wheel wrong. I've now got them all round on my Rota's.... although they're not so cheap for 17's.... Only thing I would say is the compound has changed in the past few years, so some earlier tyres aren't very nice. Some of the casings have been know to come away from the main tyre. I had this on one of mine and Toyo replaced it FOC but if the place you're buying them from has had them on the shelf for a while you might want to double check them every so often.
  7. yeah I think that's going to be the next step. I'll see what this guy says tomorrow but I'm expecting the worst now. It's my own fault, I should have sorted it in the year it was sat in the garage or at DG's but the lure of engine conversions took over...
  8. wing is just bolted in, front bumper needs sliding out, arch liner removed and then there's some underseal inside down the joint to the leading edge of the door that needs to be trimmed from around one bolt head and cut down the line of the old wing and then it just lifts out. I'd imagine you should be able to find someone to do a single wing properly for about 150 quid, not sure how easy your colour is to match perfectly though, shouldn't be too bad as it's not a badly fading VW colour is it? Ah.... unfortunately it's passenger side rear mate. It's had a little paint before which is pretty good match so if they can do similar I'd be happy. All offers considered!
  9. yuck, that wing is shot, anything can be repaired of course, but for the cost a good second hand wing painted is going to be a better bet. Thought someone might say that. Is it a case of cutting out the current arch and welding the new one in? I'm guessing that's going to be a specialist job, plus need to find a decent second hand wing. This bloody car is starting to cost me a fortune...... anyone want a 24v C?
  10. i'm happy to poke around with most things on the C but bodywork generally scares me  I've been given the name of a guy in Cambridge that might be able to sort it. Spoke to him earlier and he's going to have a look at it while I'm at work tomorrow and see what can be done. If not I might just get it sorted for now and then save so money and take it to a bodyshop in the new year.
  11. Sorry for the rubbish phone pics but this is how it looked as of 2.15pm today.... might still be growing though! Anyone know of a decent bodyshop in Cambridge? :?
  12. Well since I'm home and bored I decided to have a good poke about the C this morning... even though it's a bit snowy outside... mainly to try and fix a running issue but I couldn't help but notice that my little bit of bubbling on the passenger side rear arch is now getting bigger on a seemingly daily basis. I'll get a pic up in a bit but basically my question is, once it starts bubbling am I screwed? Will I now need extensive Corrado surgery to save it or is it usually a new arch job? The other 3 are all ok but the damn thing has got a few scrapes and scratches already which I guess I'd be best sorting at the same time. I know it's a bit of a vague question but anyone who's already had it done might be able to cheer me up before I have to take it down the body shop for a no doubt terrible pre christmas quote. :(
  13. Half the reason I'm thinking about a 4wd car myself at the moment. C for sunny days, 4wd for all year practicality and winter fun!
  14. Best things is to get them looked at regular intervals. It's not hard to get the cam/chain covers off to have a look etc. People may not of heard of any chains actually failing but I think people forget that the chains DO stretch and that'll be putting your timing slightly out. Might not make a huge overall difference but my old VR motor's chains were pretty stretched and the timing was a few degrees out because of it. Add this to the noise, guides braking and ending up in your oil filter etc and I think anyone that just decides to run them until they eat the engine without even checking them isn't packing a full deck of cards. At your peril people!
  15. Hi Dave, I know I've already spoken to you on the phone but I just thought I'd post in here that I still want a loom and I'll pick it up next time I'm over if that's cool? Hope the colds a bit better after a good nights sleep!
  16. No way, not after all the fun I've had getting those AP's to fit as it is!
  17. Hey mate, glad I could help out for a change. Those Speedies look so good..... I want them back!
  18. Apart from on the weekends, when he minces under the name Brenda.... Oi, shut it you and answer your text messages!
  19. I count three... Oooh Interesting, I made it 4...... It's like a Corrado where's wally!
  20. Looking good Judith, and a bit of fun to be had playing spot the forum members in the RS2 photo as well! Well Done.
  21. Mines known as Mincy, and its all man!
  22. Sorry, a little off topic I know..... but I love the rev counter in the centre idea from the original thread. Anyone know how to swap them over? Might have to get myself a spare set of clocks and give it a try. Good luck with the polarised flip. I heard it was a bit of a pain so all I did on mine was change the plastic filter on the LCD from green to red with a bit of acetate.

Hmm, he didn't look that quick to me. I mean he wasn't hanging around or anything but down that main straight he wasn't that much quicker than you and you've only got 2 wheels getting the power down, and those Evo's are hard not to drive quick with all the electonic gizmos. Plus that other Evo (silver & black) was miles quicker down the straights than him, just not so hot in the corners and braking. Give it a dry day and you with the racelogic fitted and I suspect it would be a closer match. Hold your Corrado head high Sir, I salute you! :salute:
