  1. you cant mix and match tops and bottoms if that is what you are getting at... Another issue is trying to get hold of 50mm gaskets, last few i have had ive made myself as GSF/VW/ECP/VolksApart can only get 42mm gaskets dave
  2. Did you notice if it had the VOLKSWAGEN script from a Caddy along the back panel under the bootlid as that could be my mates bro. dave
  3. 850 + TURBO, there is only 1 image that comes to mind Cracking motors and great value for money these days just like the Saab Turbos,.

    JMC's G60

cheers for that. Im currently in limbo as to which wheel/suspension set up to go for and you seem to have achieved the kind of stance id like where its not overly low. Will be interesting to see what the spacers and 8J are like on the rear should be pretty spot on imo. dave

    JMC's G60

Liking the new OZs!! You have good taste, the MOs are dam cool to. Questions though, since you had 16s on before with a 50mm drop have you had to adjust the ride height to allow for the 17s? and how do you find a 50mm drop on a day to day basis? Also you say the steering feels sharper due to the OZs being lighter but has putting 17s had much affect on other driving charactoristics. cheers Dave
  6. so very subtle especially the exterior, those are mk3 Golf VR6 alloys arent they? Interior is spot on, the tombstones look cracking but having the rears done as well is pure class. dave
  7. Correct because Car Forum types arent the target audiance anymore! It is clear TG has moved a long way away from the traditional car show format where they discuss new cars that average Joe might actually be in a position to buy and would like to know if the boot really can fit 3 suit cases in and return 45mpg. As a entertainment show TG is very good, it appeals to people who arent interested in cars as it is essentially the format is more along the lines of , here are some super cool supercars being ragged around a track (cars which most people will never see on the roads) then followed by more the tales of what happens when 3 good mates have a funny idea and are actually in a position to go ahead and do it. Sure most of us can predict what is likely to happen but few of us will be in a position to try these things ourselves and get away with it hence it is good entertainment! Dave
  8. Early Spec H plate (i think) 16v Blue Corrado heading into Tetbury at 6ish, i was in my mk2 golf - dave
  9. I so nearly bought the silver GTI at Goodwood a few years back as at the time i had a totally stock early D plate 16v in silver! Il be waiting til the Yellow G60 is available then... although i did see a yellow corrado on ebay but dont know if it was minichamps
  10. Looks good but it should definately have some new rear shocks on it dave
  11. LOL pretty sure pistons dont usually play such a tune. Cracking work elsewhere to start getting it back to it former glory. Dave
  12. Now that is quite a find. gorgeous colour and definately looks like a car that has not been messed about with in the past! dave
  13. i saw that!! Did you see the Nugget Yellow one.... it was 40 odd quid  Have any of you lot made a model corrado a la Air Fix style? dave
  14. You are right that a lot of people (think even eg parkers guides and the like) seem to think bright colours or unusual colours devalue a car, and others just dont want to draw extra attention to themselves so prefer bland choices. No doubt this is why a huge proportion of new cars are silver as it is seen as a safe choice although silver corrados look stunning especially with clear or smoked lights. dave

  16. But the 3.6 isnt physically much if at all any larger than a R32 lump and we all know they fit into a corrado and dont ruin it. I think im right in saying the 3.6 is a narrower V and longer stroke so i doubt it weights much more as a block but perhaps the extra coolant capacity needed and engine accessories might be larger/heavier but you would be getting close to 300hp from a NA 6er - how can that be a bad thing? On Vortex there is even a bloke running a R36 bi-turbo in a mk4 so space cant be that much of a issue as a mk4 bay isnt *that* wildly different to a corrado. i suppose a great alternative would be a increased capacity version of the turbo + supercharged engine - maybe a 2.0 version???? I guess it comes down to 3 things - what VAG produce and how much money + Skills you have dave
  17. SWAMPY - il keep an eye out for you then as i usually shop down at sainsburys on my way home from work. Do you live in stroud then? i was going to go the the E38 meet but my radiator hose let go on my golf :( hopefully next one il bring the rado up instead!
  18. Im actually heart broken. Has anyone seen Custom my ride when they take a new dodge charger, rip the shell off and put an old charger shell on?? If i had the money needed... TT Rs with corrado shell would be very much my dream car! I always think about it but tbh, it'd probably cost 100k to do or something mad like that. YES mate i like your thinking, CLassic shells with modern running gear are the way forward. BUT i would much rather have a R36 powered corrado with Haldex (with a RWD bias). DAVE
  19. well you are very aware of how much a corrado costs to run so a VR6 is a bit of a step up as there are a few jobs on a VR6 mainly the HG, Cam chains/headwork that can cost a fair bit of money to get sorted but once they are done will be fine for thousands of miles. The merc on the other hand... it is a good looking car and they are well spec'd but you will find it hard to find one with a good interior. I loooked at a few 230Kompressor models and far too many are auto, most have beige/biscuit colour interiors and all have bus size steering wheels lol. A mate of mine works at a Merc dealer and im seeing him later tonight so i can ask him about some of the service costs/parts costs etc on the CLKs. One thing for sure Merc are trying VERY hard at the moment o imporve reliability and improve servicing. Dave
  20. i can only see them going up. If you are worried about the number being broken then dont, if the really bad ones are butchered then the better examples stay on the road longer and there is a better supply of parts. Because only the better examples survive those that are better than average will command a even higher price plus with a more limited supply price creeps up. Hopefully there will be a few more G60s chargers around hehe. If you look at mk1 golfs say 10 years ago you could buy huge numbers of 1.0, 1.3, and NON GTI models with really good shells, T&T for less than £500, i had a 1.1 i paid £100 that passed a MOT striaght away. I sold it for £500 but if i had it now id ask £2000 for it, that isnt inflation that has done that, its demand! MK2 golfs have been going up a lot recently to, in the last 3 months ive shifted a modified 2.0 16v mk2 for £3200, a 1.8 16v mk2 standard other than BBS RMs +suspension for £2350 and il be honest both cars were bought for sub £1k 6-7 years ago. There are a few early 16v corrados knocking around for sub £1k these are the ones where people can either break them up and get maybe £1k or more in parts or spend a bit of money tidying them up and then potentially double there money in less than a few years. Dave
  21. Think i have spotted you there to. Where the hell were you fishing if parked up by KFC, in the canal, long way to lug your kit??? I sometimes head a bit further up stream along Bristol road. I cant believe how many of you lot seam to be around Gloucester area. I know of a few corrados near me but none of the owners are that into internet forums etc... A Aqua Blue VR6 on 17inch Momo Arrows, is a mate of mines. A Black 16v with a VOLKSWAGEN script from a Caddy on the back panel is another mate A Aqua Blue G60 that lives down by Purton outside of Cam used to belong to someone i know but i think it is slowly dying now. Do any of you guys head up to the Air Balloon pub at the top of Birdlip? That pub gets used for meets quite often. DAVE
  22. Ah interesting, i was going to take some measurements of the cubby hole area and see if i can make my own 2 pod holder out of the remains of a knackered audi 3 pod. Il let you know how i get on. If it fails then i could well be interested in seeing some pics, getting some measurements of your LHD pod and see what we can do. Thanks everyone for the welcome and the positive comments. Hopefully this week il get a chance to do some proper work to it as ive been having a few problems with insurance on it. Has anyone else had problems with classic car polices where either the car doesnt qualify or age related issues (only people over 30 can have a classic policy with some companies). What sort of **** is that , when i can be 7 years older than my "classic" car yet not be old enough to qualify. Dave
  23. Gosh you have a awesome collection of corrados and they all look so mint in the group photo :notworthy: . Im definately inspired to do some serious arch and underside cleaning on mine now as its amazing just how the yellow comes up so bright. Great work!! dave
  24. Good effort, i love these kind of rebuilds where people do take a little longer but treat/prep/paint every component that comes off the car if it isnt being replaced with a new one. Yes it adds to the time/cost aspect but is worth it in the long run everytime!! dave
  25. i really am quite confused by this. So what causes them to just break? my engine is on 92k and is due a cambelt soon so should i be making sure the bolt is replaced of do i not disturb it and work around it? Just seams odd that people have replaced theres and it has then gone on to fail - are people using the wrong torque settings or what? dave
