  1. i have two jobs, i work for a financial services firm which specialised in portfolio/ISA/Self invested Pension plans in the marketing department and act as IT administrator. Plus i work for my dad's financial adviser business as a mortgage and pension adviser - anyone still awake lol. dave
  2. looking good, how are you finding the Weitec coilovers? my bro has the shocks/springs set up on his mk2 golf and im really impressed with them an thinking of getting the coils for my rado. Are those wheels AEZ ? do look quite similar to R32 ones an work well. dave
  3. i spent the evening taking all the boot carpet trim, spare wheel and rear seats out in order to do some serious cleaning.... all the paint has been polished, carpets wet vac'd and it does look awesome now its done. As per usual the neighbours think i have lost the plot  dave
  4. also thanks to BUSTER-G40 for this pic he took at Polo Show a couple of weeks back
  5. been doing some more cleaning this evening - beggining to get carried away but feel its worth it. So, i tackled the rear of the interior and the boot area as the boot was full of a billion leafs and the remains of a last years christmas tree and all sorts. after plenty of washing, drying and polishing the results yes the boot floor really is that much brighter yellow after being polished. and i bit if the overall interior. Really happy with how its looking now, just got to put the knee bar and lower dash trim back on the drivers side after removing them to do the ignition switch - a job i will never learn to enjoy. next task is moving onto cleaning the underside of the car - my goal is a yellow underside covered in clear waxoil to keep it sweeeeeet but that is likely to be a job for october time when the car comes off the road. dave
  6. this seems like a nuts idea given that there are a good supply of G60s around and there are clearly more in dark and mettalic colours than there are Nuggets. But if there is one less nugget that makes my car even more rare. To be honest id sooner have a corrado than a mk3 anyday of the week so id say your MRS is getting a good deal there  dave
  7. ^^^ that is funny your mate not realising the ignition needs to be on... my brother did that to me once. pushed his mk2 a couple hundred yards he stuffed it up so i managed to push start it on my own instead lol. Yesterday i spent a few hours cleaning the engine bay some more, my ECU was literally living in a wet forest so i scoped loads of crap out the scuttle cleaned the whole area = big improvement. i also removed and upgraded the wiring from the battery to starter/earth to mk3 golf types as they are a much better design. Car now idles FAR FAR better and revs really cleanly - amazing what clean earths can do!!!!!! Today , i have had the fun of charging around getting a new Ignition switch, new rotor arm and new spark plugs. As you are all aware rotor arm an spark plugs can be done blind folded but ignition switches.... i hate them with a passion. This is the third one i have done on my various VWs and the only one that hasnt required me to remove the whole steering colum - happy days. Dave
  8. Wow those are seriously cool!! dave
  9. It is a joke how some dealerships opertate and why they would want to get rid of perfectly good stock is beyond me especially given that VW seem to always want to put prices up on older stock as i found today when the ignition switch varied from £17-29 at 3 dealers. dave
  10. Just a quick update - It was the ignition switch. Crazy how it just died instantly over night and didnt show any of the normal tell tale signs. Replaced with the 6NO black type now so happy days. Im just glad it wasnt the immobalise dying!!! dave
  11. If it is chucking water out of the overflow on the side of the expansion tank it could be the expansion tank itself is dead. Dont ask how they break but i spent a small fortune having new water pump, new radiator, new lid and it still kept overheating and chucking all its coolant out the overflow.... a £10 expansion bottle (from VW) and it had been fine ever since. dave
  12. Dude i have just thread the whole thread and what a way to end :-( hope it isnt terminal. dave
  13. what condition are the igntion components in eg HT leads, DIzzy, Rotor arm, Spark plugs etc? Removing the spark plugs and inspecting them can tell you a lot about how the engine is running be it too rich or too lean. In the past i had a similar problem where the engine felt lame above 4k, a new rotor arm and dizzy did wonders as did makng sure the HT leads were correctly seated, my king lead from the Coil to the dizzy wasnt on properly and tbh it felt like gaining 30+ HP straight away once it was on. Oh and since you have been tinkering it is best to go to someone who has a gas analyser now to correctly set the CO2 emmissions back to 2% ish. dave
  14. 82mm on a standard 2.9, check the bores carefully if your bottom end is smoking a bit - they can wear OVAL shaped. It is possible to buy oversize piston rings to compensate for this wear dave
  15. Cracking! i have tried both my keys in the ignition becuase i had a similar problem on my golf once and it turned out the key was bent but didnt think of wiggling it..... Do switches just die overnight though? in my golfs they would act up for a month or so with random electrics like windows, wipers not working etc.. oh well on brightside its a cheap fix even if its a lot of hassle - in less can you change a switch on a corrado without removing the colum? thanks dave
  16. On a mk3 it is worth spending a little extra and getting a nice avantguarde with the electrics an creature comforts or maybe look at a mk1 clipper convertible - although if you want to carry a baby around + all the gubbins that go with a baby will a golf cabrio boot be big enough? dave
  17. Hello, bit of a odd one, my car ran fine up until sunday then yesterday i went out to start it and all seemed normal, central locking works, interior light, immobaliser disengaged (light on dash went out as per normal) and lights on the dash came on but then turn the key and nothing. not a click from the starter but i can hear the fuel pump prime + it smells of fuel in the bay. Annoyingly because of the electric seat belt warning buzzer it is really hard to tell if any of the relays behind the dash are reacting . So far i have established the battery is fine, over 12v, every other electrical item eg windows, wipers, lights, spoiler etc etc all work. my strategy is going to be: 1) check for 12v to the starter by checking black trigger wire - if no 12v 2) use a jumper wire from battery POS+ to the starter terminal - if it starts then the ignition switch is dead - hate those things. 3) if no start, then wack starter with a hammer - duff starter - do they really just die like that though? working fine one day dead the next? 4) ECU relay no:30- now then what is the deal with these, are they all the same? i have spare relays from mk2 golfs 8 & 16v but even if the number is the same do they do the same function i really dont want to risk killing the ECU by chucking a random relay in. 5) Hall sender - power to it ? 6) 12v to coil - spark at King lead. Any other ideas? i want to try and do as much myself as i believe if its not any of the above items it is likely to be my immobalizer that has died - sound right? thanks Dave

    who has A/C

i realise my set up is slightly different as it is factory but would it not be feasible for people to source the control panel from the US? dave
  19. :D TOP MAN That is exactly what i had planned. I just read on Vortex about someone who after plugging all the redundant vac lines and replacing the ones he did need he gained 2psi of boast and i know i have a slight whistle like a vac leek hence me wanting to get rid of a potential cause. dave
  20. Oh really? i have read that it is a good thing to remove as it just chucks dirty air back into the intake system and vacuum system. I read this from the Corrado WIKI in General tuning tips for G60 engines. In the past i have removed the system on my brothers old Polo GT which runs Digi management and is very similar to a G60 set up and there were no adverse effects but a great big hole to put a cold air pipe onto which goes into the bottom of the stock airbox thus maintaining a factory look. I found this on Vortex which shows the routing for the vacuum pipes and which ones to remove/cap. suppose worst case scenario il take it off and end up putting it back in with it being a opportunity to clean it lol Dave
  21. very nice car and i really like the way you are aquiring as many parts to build/refurb off the car as you can spend a lot more time on preperation and dont have to rush... I take it the car is your daily driver?! Dave
  22. so i got the insurance sorted - Thanks to Chris Knott - top guys! This allowed me to take it down to Castle Combe last week to VW Driver day (pleasure to meet you Corrado ppl on the Corrado GB stand) and then this weekend i went to Polo Show on the saturday Then i began the fun job of cleaning inside the door shuts an boot. I only got 1 before pic bbut i expect you all know how messy these areas can get. thats better moved onto the boot to and had the boot seal off and clean around the edges - reckon il have to get a new seal to as the one on there is a bit manky in places. After cleaning all the fiddly bits i began on the engine bay. First job was to get the air box out and remove the snorkel silencer.. Look what else i found  yes that is a 6 inch roll of Sand Paper - how the hell would that get into the air box???????????????? at least its gone now. No pic, but i chucked a K&N filter element in to and it has made quite a noticable difference to the induction noise. Next job is to drill the wing side of the airbox. I also began cleaning the inner arches, nothing too exciting as i was literally only able to get to the parts i could reach with my hand - its certainly 1 advantage of having a un lowered car - HUUUUGE arch gap. Hopefully il get a chance to get the car up on axle stands and begin cleaning arches an sills properly very soon! I made a bit of a start of cleaning the engine bay to as it had 20years of gunk on it or as a car dealer would say "its a honest engine with a bit of grime but no leaks" cant wait to get rid of carbon canister and all the associated pipes etc that go with it. Should neaten the bay up a bit and allow me to run a cold air feed directly into the bottom of the box. Dave
  23. Yesterday morning circa 8:50am Tornado Red Corrado turning into Barton End Stables on the A46 by Nailsworth, HELLO - i was in the yellow corrado coming over te brow of the hill! dave
  24. put m e down as a happy G60 owner. dave
  25. if you look on the "A2 resource" website there is a list of pre and post 90 spec wiring harnesses/looms and what you can do is use Control+F and search for the colour combinations of the wires you have and match them up. Dave
