Flash Red 1993 VR6 - Sold on to the next owner
coullstar replied to 4eyes2wheels's topic in Members Gallery
Wheels do look good on these but you do realise they are the wrong sized tyres on them? -
The Falken 452's Ive put on the Compo's are coping well on the red one. In the dry they work fine, you can feel a slight squirm from them to start with but there fine. In the wet there still ok but will break traction if provoked.

24v V6 or R32 Factory Conversion with some extras.....
coullstar replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Suppliers Forum
I can see the appeal of having the whole shooting match into the car. I will admit though that apart from a little hiccup with the loom on my car it has run perfectly and just like any VR albiet with missing MFA functions. Price wise maybe a touch high as I had the conversion done including engine cost, new clutch etc for just under £4k. Ok its not to the same spec but depends on what you want. I think those contemplating this over a turbo have to remember this is a newer, more refined engine where as with the turbo they better be sure thier 12v is in good shape before bolting on the turbine. Having both now I can safely say for smiles its the turbo but for everyday usablity miles my 24v is better. -
Ive been running this for a while now and it the best exhaust Ive ever run on a car in terms of noise levels. Just enough to be heard but not overbearing and its a lot deeper than the Magnex I took off. Well worth the money. Would be swapping it onto the VRT if it wasnt going to be restrictive.

S3 build....from 6 to 4 cylinders-doh!

Nice one, as I said I loved mine. Very quick point to point cars. I had some 18in MTM Bimoto reps on and they looked brilliant plus plenty of room for big brakes. Only thing I had to do on mine was CCT. -
Cleaned the brown stain left in my passenger seat today when I took my mate out for a blast  . Took the other for the first drive since getting the VRT, its noticably more refined.

Those Parker style price guides are crap. Just look at other similar cars for sale to get a guide on price for something as thats the best comparison.

Swompy's Ice grey violet. Now gone to a new home
coullstar replied to Swompy's topic in Members Gallery
Same as originals. The insets need to be dark I think, dont look as good with them the same colour. -
My temp gauge is exactly the same. Will be interesting to see what you find out. They do sound good dont they.
-
Spic and span. How did you treat the rust on the door, does the seal just come off? Ive got something similar on mine.
-
Ordered one as well for the racing.

I suppose any turbo can fit as long as it goes in the bay. Just a matter of getting the right manifold made up, oil lines etc. Whether it would suit the VR is another story which I cannot say. You have to questions why its cheap as well.

Plate was only £250 which I thought was acceptable. Never say never, a few years ago I would never had thought I would own one. First time on wet roads today, its interesting  .

Well sad news, L898 KVT is no more.................................. thats because Ive been a homo and put a nice plate on it. Little water cooled reference.

Howcome my Estorils from my Passat VR6 doesn't fit the C?
coullstar replied to Mawrick's topic in Drivetrain
Probably have 288mm brakes on the Passat therefore no brace bar on the caliaper like you do on the Corrado's 280mm calipers. -
There you go.

Looks brand new. I could never run cream carpets, I hate cleaning the outside never mind the inside.

Does it start in the 12s and then drop to 11 - 10, or is it always 11-10 as soon as you see boost? That is way too rich, but if it starts in the 12s and drops to 10, that's a sign of ignition break up (spark partially extinguished), but if it's 11-10 all the time, it's the software or something else. It is indeed. No perceptible dip in performance and it did soften the exhaust volume down a little yeah. I use a 2.5" exhaust after that though. Yours is 3" IIRC? So you'll have no trouble with restrictions etc. Thanks. Starts in the 12's and drops down a to the 10:1. Im stil feathering the throttle slightly when it comes on boost as its taking a bit of getting used to. I notice Jetex are doing the CAT's as well but a fair bit more than that one.
-
Ok, just like to check. James did tell me the figures so everything seems ok. Little bit richer on boost around 11-10:1. Thanks I'll look at the CAT, is that the one you run? Notice any dip in performance with it fitted or a change in noise levels?
-
Few quick Q's. What a/f ratios are people running when driving normal and what are they when giving it some stick? Also is anyone running a CAT? I might need to fit one for MOT's so looking at different options.
-
Generally the 288's have better caliper clearnace. I would check the other wheels on the same hub. Also I have seen people grind the caliper bar for clearnace so his may have had that.

Cool, Ive always said I'll own a Porsche one day as well. 964's are looking great now. What model is it? Do this though... -
Good job. Bargin as well.

Remind not to go on a trackday with them. TBH I think that was crossing the line for a trackday.

 I live in Aberdeen so no real need for aircon. It would only sap power anyway. I do really feel lucky to have this it alone the other one. Before buying it I did think it was being a bit greedy but at the end of the day you only live once so I just though f*ck it. Better to regret something you have done than something you thought about doing. I will consider coming to something down south and try to tie it in with visiting my brother on the south coast.
