98 Passat 1.8T is what I have and the boot is massive. Mine has uprated suspension and a remap so it makes it better to drive. Just got 37mpg from it on long drive but round town its not that good. For economical motoring the diesel is the one to get however I hate tractors so didnt buy one. I use it for the racing and pack all my crap in the back, its perfect. My brother has a similar aged A4 Avant I could only get 2/3rds in what I get in the Passat.

God I love and hate reading all these strip down and rebuilds as Im really needing to do it myself on my chassis. Just dont have time or space to do it.

Heading to my Bro's wedding and just found out my dad is going down on Monday as well so I'll probably drop it of then now. Can maybe get the train from Bournemouth to L.Spa then so long as it doesnt involve stopping in loads of places.

Not just a remap, the box is getting changed as well so it will be an all day job. Might see if I can drop it off on the way down instead as its sounds like one boring ass day.

My cars going in for a bit or work next week and Im not sitting about all day waiting on it so is there anything local to do to kill 2-3 few hours before it gets mapped? Dont really mind just wandering about somewhere as long as there something to look at.

Check the price for the 24v charger bracket and make sure sitting down when you do. 800+ euros from memory.

I initially was with HIC on an agreed value policy but after looking at it wasnt really that good. If someone smacked into me I would only get market value for a VR apparently. Brentacre were better. I also limited my mileage which does help.

Silver all the way, I wish mine was silver although Im loving red at the moment. I woudlnt get too hung up on the interior as standard is not exactly rubbish. I had leather heated recaro's and TBH prefer it with the cloth as Im not to worried about having to look after it.

Saw this on Sat and Fri when I was down. Looked stunning.

2 in Poole this weekend. Lightish blue with numberplate G60 CB or similar. Also saw a dark blue one with polished ZW1 wheels and what sounded like some FI. Reg had BUL in it. Looked very nice.

The engine runs ok and certainly pulls well so Im not overly concernced but I know at least two 4motion Golfs that have been on that dyno in similar conditions that have come out 235bhp with the same remap so I know its not quite right. No point paying all this money and it not being right. Ive always thought it was running a tad rich which could be down to the CC map which was set up for the decat. Thats why Im getting Stealth to look at it. 6spd should be fitted at the same time there looking at it, only really come about and deal done in the last 2 days. Expensive day for me that will be.. :shock:

Well its booked in at Stealth to get looked at as Im passing in a few weeks. Will also need to get myself one of these. 8)

Is the back of the wheels solid or are there cuts out between where the bolts go through?

Here is 8j ET30 for an idea. ET10 will sit 2cm further out. Without arch mods I doubt it would work unless you have an early car as they have a track thats not as wide I believe.

Standard VR engine is a bit like the women on those sex phone lines. Sounds great and gets you all excited but in reality its a bit of a mare!!!

:lol: I had a set of those on my first car, mind you that was about 13yrs ago now. As said SAABs and the Merc Brabus wheels are about the only 3 spokes you can get away with but then you need a SAAB or a Merc.

I would defo being looking at all that work as a plus. Remeber the newest Corrado is about 14yrs old so they all need work doing. If thats been done then anything else will be fairly minor. Dont retrim the Recaro's though leathers for gimps and girls!!!! :lol:

If there wasnt the original 300 I would probably have been sick however I think its a great modern take on the original so Im in the minority, I like it. It does actually look relatively small. I bet if you saw it in the metal it would look great.

There is a hint of that on one or two. Im pretty sure bottom right and top left are 1 & 6 that are prone for the oval bores. Some of them do have the brown tinge which is what you want. Here were what my 1&6 looked like when it started blowing oil on the overrun.
