Cool, bet the first drive was brilliant. The sounds amazing isnt it. Let me know how you get on with the airbox as I might still try and put the standard back on to quieten mine down. -
Ahh, just when I thought Id made up my mind!! That look really good.
-
Thanks, Ill give that a go.

One of the reasons Im fitting some fixed shocks and springs. You may be limited in what ride height you get but there's no chance of this happening. I know of two other people who have had this.
-
Anyone know know about the rear spring plate position as I should be doing them tomorrow?
-
Cheers, all done tonight. Just the rear to do now.

Any photos as thats the only one I could find. Tedman Ive already contacted the guy and the silver ones. The Monti's do look good but then so do the 4motion ones. Heres another one with TT's, Im not 100% convinced on them.

Going to fit my front Koni T/A tomorrow but Im just wondering how you tighten the top mount bolts seeing as the adjustment is in the middle of the strut?? Ive always used an allen key down a socket to stop the shock shaft from turning.

Did you get my cheque this week?

Looks like Ive sold my 17in BBS and Im thinking of either some new 15in tyres for the Speedlines or going for some OE 16in wheels. The ones Im looking at are from the Mk4 stable but Im not sure whats best. Reason for this is the sheer number of them going about. Ive narrowed it down to the three below. What do you think? #1 Monti II's (loads going about) #2 4motion (kind of like this seeing as i have 4motion engine) #3 TT 16in. (wider and better offset)

Well Ive had VW's since passing my test over a decade ago and it was just pure chance I bought a Mk2. Im an engineer and have liked tinkering with things, the VW scene at the time was more about the engineering side than the look of the car. I went to a few shows to start with but I got bored very quickly. Id rather just drive my car than stand about and speak about it. About 4yrs after this I got my first bike and I wish that the modifiying car scene was more like the bike scene. Up here they are more into going out and actually using thier machines than meeting up to chew the fat although there are some that seem to prefer that option. Its all horses for courses and were all different I suppose. The thing that I just dont get (and this is just not related to ED38, its the whole VW scene) is the fact that a lot of people are making there cars worse by fitting silly wide wheels with stupidly streched rubber then "slamming" them. It can look good but must completely bugger up the handling etc. The whole trend, stance, silly little sticker, gangsta crew stuff is beyond me, must be getting old. The rare thing is also quite funny but on the flip side people expect something for nothing these days. You see people offering half of what the (realistic) asking price is and dont see a problem with that. Ebay is to blame, people think thier entilited to a bargin nowadays.

Compo's are still not that cheap direct and TBH there pretty heavy for a motorsport wheels. Saying that I want a set of TH2's.

I would agree, it just caught me out the first time as I couldnt believe how quickly it picked up. -
Ive driven the Megane and I have to admit the front end grip was very good. Decent enough car but just too many gimics for me, plus its french.
-
I had one with a few tweaks. Very good sporty cars but interior lets it down and it did feel a tad cheap. No questioning there ability though.
-
Looks good, what are the rear light like close up? Did the light shine through ok?

Just be careful of the throttle response to start with when pulling away from junctions. Its very sensitive. -
Nope, never made them in white. There was a guy on Cupranet that got one painted white I believe.
-
Well i couldnt sell the BBS and didnt want them to sit doing nothing so Ive painted them satin black so they dont need cleaning as much over winter.

Clean.... Why did you spend £170 on a new mirror though, 2nd hand ones are about £30? -
Good luck finding them, I had a set exactly the same but sold them before I bought the Corrado. The guy I sold them to said he was trying to find a set for ages. I have a photo on the Passat somewhere. I reckon they would look pretty good though.
-
Yeah I know, just wondered if someone had fitted the same combo and had to change the rear.

Ive got some Koni TA's & H&R springs for my VR and might be fitting them tomorrow. What Im wondering is what is the best setting for a fast road driving on reasonably bumpy roads? Also the rear plate circlip is on the middle groove, should I move this?
