Cheers lads!! Some jobs for the weekend. :D Engine starts perfectly 98% of the time. Its reasonably rough after start up ie slight missfire sound and feels really flat. Its ok coming into junctions. Main problems are the fuel economy and cold start lumpiness. I actually like these little problems from time to time as you learn more about the car.

Agree about the Storm over priced comment. Leather etc doesnt make them any faster. Depends on what you want I suppose.

Ok I did a search and it seems it may be either the timing is one tooth out on the cam pulley or a dodgy throttle microswitch (wherever this is). I intend on servicing the car this weekend and adding some engine cleaner to see if that makes a difference. Will also check the timing. Hope it gets better. :?

Bump. I drove the car for approximately 200 motorway miles and sitting at ~78mph my car would only return 29mpg. I am still only getting an average of 26mpg. This is as bad as my old Golf VR with no where near as much performance. What the fecks going on?

Arse! my insurance is up for renewal next month.

HIC were by far the cheapest for me but they are a complete nightmare to get hold off. -
I had those wheels on my Golf VR.
-
Yeah I was going to do that this weekend. Might try some of that injector cleaner as well.
-
This all sounds very familiar. What sort of mpg were/are you getting? I am struggling to get near 30mpg and on long trip yesterday it wouldnt go above 29mpg. My car has had a head rebuild last year and the engine appears spotless. Its pissing me of as I was thinking the car does feel slow. Is it hard cleaning out the injection/fuel system?

35mpg!! I cannot get 30mpg even at 65mph. Defo think my car is not running right. Its no better than my old Mk3 VR. Looks clean though. A nice subtle lower plus small things like the side repeaters do make a difference. It sounds like the lacquer is peeling of the wheels. I dont like the Sebrings so try getting a set of G60 BBS if you want to keep the original look. -
The spare is definetly coming out on mine whilst running as I have a full size Sebring !! Suppose I will just leave that in the pits with all my stuff as i am sure there wont be any tea leafs floating around. Cannot wait now!!! :D

I thought you lower tyre pressures as they will soon heat up thus pressure the pressure will rise due to the excessive use?
-
I dont have any spare wheels so road tyres will have to do. They are only one month old anyway so there is plenty of tread as it is only an evening session not all day. Due to this then there is no way the spare is coming out, sods law and all that.

New wheels & pipe. + reflector mod (update 23/9/04)

Needed the money plus I use the car everyday so unless I cleaned them every night they looked crap. The steels dont cost a lot so if you dent one just buy another, they are 15" so I get to use the same tyres and I actually like the look of them. Im not into bling mods at all. The BBS are going to Chubbybrown on this forum so you will no doubt see them again. Phat I thought you would be pleased that the BBS have gone. -
Witht the Knockhill track evening just over a week away I was wondering from the guys that have done a track day what are the best things to do to prepare the car and what basic tools are best to bring along? What about things like tyre presures etc. Any experiences good or bad? Is it worth while removing the rear seat? Bear in mind I have a 1.8 16v so I need to loose as much weight as possible.

Wheels are staying standard for now. In all honesty I cannot be arsed painting them. -
No offence intended. How can your car be slagged off. 8)

Its 3". Just big enough to not look like a bake bean tin effort.
-
Ditto. Many of the big places wont do it though as I tried before. I did one on my Golf but managed to use a pit. Without that there was no way I could have done it,
-
Finally got the steelies on. I like it. Nice and simple. New tailpipe to replace the gay square one and again plain and simple, just like me.
-
Well I finally got it done. Wnet for the plain and simple approach but I think it looks good. It looks better when you see it in person.
-
I am supposed to be in on Monday morning. I am actually looking at a few tailpipes before I decide.
-
Just measure the the bore on the wheel and the hub.
-
Henny thats what i am looking at but coming straight out and a slash cut. What size is that? Whats going on with that one above? The rear wheels are at a hell of an angle. Bit to showy for me. Looking for something simple and plain.

Cmon guys. I have booked the car in for Monday morning. Anybody got a single round pipe?
