What VW's have you owned and how old are you??
coullstar replied to bigben's topic in General Car Chat
25 years old 1990 Mk2 1.3 Red 1988 Mk2 8v GTI Silver 1998 Polo 16v Cosmic Green 1995 Corrado 8v Green 1991 Corrado G60 White 1995 Mk3 VR6 Red 1991 Mk2 8v GTI White 1998 SV650S blue 2001 GSXR600Y Black and yellow 2002 GSXR600K2 Blue and silver. VR6 best so far overall and I reckon my Mk2 Golfs handle better than the Raddo's. -
Superb. I keep trying to stop thinking about getting another Raddo but when I see cars like this I really need to get another!!!! I would paint the grill black though.
-
V.Nice. Love those subtle colours. I would loose the red valve caps and get smoked side repeaters to finish it off.
-
Where did you get the gold BBS caps?
-
Not from Abz boys. I was up there today as I am working at DTL this week. I actually sold my old Polo to a mate in Aberdeen in Union Grove. Reg was P75 HES. Didnt think much of his beard/goatie though!
-
Just have to say to the guy on here with the silver Polo 16v in Aberdeen that his car is really nice. Saw it this morning on the harbour road and it looked pretty good especially the Compo MO's. :D Used to have one myself but it was the cosmic green colour with solitudes. Just bored bt the way which is why I am posting this.

4 cyllinder turbo or V6. mmmmmm no choice in my mind, V6. Can you tune a company car?
-
Could you put one in a Mk2? :) I would love to say to guys is a 1.3 then kick my brothers Impreza'a ass.
-
My old one had 100k miles and it was fine but I would get it rebuilt. I tried this with the guy who sold me the car but he said that seeing as VW dont recommend it in thier handbook etc then it is not necessary.
-
Bloody expensive though. Look on german ebay as they guys love thier "phat" wheels.
-
What make were the springs you took of and how long were they on the car?
-
I think those black steels look pretty good.

BigEastSideTartanTimmeh's 1990 Corrado G60

Look like 9x16 Borbet B's Keep the side strip as it breaks up the white. -
They didnt. Bit like Mk1 16v's. Loads of engine conversions. If you are looking for a house you will need a reasonably practical car yet I assume still a little bit of fun. 205's and CRX's are too small. Mk2's are your best bet as they are cheap and easy to maintain yet still big enough to be practical. Mk3 are only good if you get a 16v or VR6 but the earlier ones had poor build quality. i picked up my 91 8v with 78k miles for only £1500. Its not the fastest but its still good fun and easy to run. Not bad when you consider some people will spend close to that for leather interior on a new car.

Look very similar to BBS RW. They have a small BBS logo at the top of the rim.
-
Sorry wish I could. The only pics I have are of the cars under 3ft of snow. Might need to buy another so I can post some up.

Heres a few (crap) pics of my line of VW's. Ironically I failed to get pics of my 8v Raddo and G60 Raddo (doh) which came in between the Polo and Mk3 VR. Plus a few of my old and current bike! I am only 25 by the way. :D

Only 2-door here as well

What sort of "50 mile trip" are you talking about? If it is mainly in traffic then the G60 is better. I have run a 91 G60 and a Mk3 Golf VR6. The VR6 sounded great but in all honesty the G60 was a better engine day to day. VR6 is bad for fuel especially in stop/start driving. I imagine the G60 is slightly better in the handling department plus if you look after the oily bits regularly it is just as reliable as any other Corrado. The VR6 replaced the G60 so it will be harder to find a mint straight low mileage G60.

I saw that advertised as well. Decent price. I would go for it. Is it out of an Oak Green car with Ronal Turbos?
-
R32 blue? Nice but not keen on the lights. What wheels do you have to fit?
-
Is that an R1/R6 I spy in the 4th pics down?
-
The golf is usually 35mm standard (BBS RA's etc). I have the Raddo G60 BBS's and they are 33mm.
-
Exhaust still looks useable :D
-
Do it, they look fantastic on the Corrado. Especially a dark one.
