  1. Don't see any VW bits on there at all .. just aftermarket. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right place ... ?
  2. Slightly serious question .. who actually cares about road tax in their calculations of whether to put a car on the road or not .. ?
  3. Power curve is always linear since power (BHP) = torque (lbft) * RPM / 5250. For me, the torque curve is the one you're interested in. As others have said the main reason people went with the 263s was price, but they come very close to what the Schrick 268s can do at the top end and as an added bonus they pad out the torque curve right across the range, which the Schricks don't. The 268s are designed to be used with a Schrick inlet manifold however so when combined it's a pretty potent package. The manifold pads out the torque in the midrange and the cams take over for the 4000-7000 rpm sprint. If, however, you're offered them cheap and you can fit them yourself.. well why the hell not? :)
  4. Cut the hassle, talk to Stealth Racing, I'm sure they can source whatever you need..
  5. I would also say that the OE oil filled VR6 gearbox mount is noticeably better at absorbing gearbox whine than an OE solid mount, so would recommend you stick with the real deal. People are scared that the oil filled mount isn't as reliable as the solid ones (I think), but reality is it lasted 100k miles so ...
  6. Arrived and most awesome. Thanks to the Hofmeister for sorting. http://imgur.com/a/rzrBV
  7. Sorry, didn't see the last update.. money on its way over now..!
  8. Supply voltage gets recorded any time you disconnect the battery. Or if you have a really bad connection on the top of the ABS ECU (they can get damp and corrode sometimes).
  9. .. that's what I thought. Anyway, your big problem is the bottom chain, not the top tensioner!
  10. That's the one. Test it by yanking the fuses out when the car is showing the problem... You'll see it's quite easy to find top right of the engine bay.
  11. The VR has a separate after-run controller with its own fuses. The main rad thermostat switch only operates when the ignition is on. I'd be looking at the faulty after-run controller module myself. Presumably its timer is dead.
  12. .. yeah and I thought the top end had a dual chain setup on the VR6 .. ?
  13. I'm curious. What's wrong with your original speedo binnacle cover? Can't imagine it's a wear and tear part .. !?
  14. Who's paid up so far? What's the final score on pricing? Duck it, I'm in. Sounds like a marvelous deal and my steering wheel is going manky as hell in the cold and damp this winter. Please put the payment details up and I'll send the money straight over..!
  15. Hmmm, might be tempted to get one of these myself.. but I'd need an idiot guide to swapping the wheel over (and what tools you need)!
  16. I had this on my VR.. was the crank sensor.
  17. They might become collectable in future ...
  18. Correct, the valve mentioned is internal and cannot be repaired. Pick up a used one - the modules are actually extremely reliable so the odds of getting a duff one are small.
  19. I have to say I bought a set of wheels off ebay once with the classic single photo of one wheel.. I got called all sorts of ****e when I went over there and refused to buy them because the other three were MUCH worse than the one in the picture.. ;) And on another occasion I bought a set of wheels and was very happy with them. YMMV!

    Crappy idle VR6

So the problem only appears once the engine is up to full working temperature then? I really can't see much point in trying too hard to diagnose without actually consulting the ECU though .. get it VAGCOMed, otherwise you're just wasting time and potentially throwing money away.
  21. I would have thought driving it up and down any road in Sheffield readjusts the tracking and camber every day given the top quality potholes I see every time I take the 4x4 through that way.. :)
  22. Hall sender is the camshaft position sensor. You should scan that again - you'll lose a lot of power if that's dead. The engine speed sensor fault always shows up if the engine isn't running when you scan.. The ABS supply voltage fault appears when you disconnect the battery .. assuming it doesn't come back you've no problems. The final one suggests that you have a faulty valve block.. which makes sense..! Don't worry about the 2.8L designation .. the ECU doesn't care about the extra 61ccs. :)
