I love a bit of driveway mechanics so I'd say go for it. The physical swap could easily done in a weekend but the finishing touches would take that extra time. If you've got the room you could get a marquee, to give you a bit of waterproof. To remove the full engine, subframe and suspension in 1 big go is about 8 big bolts, obviously you have screws etc but you can undo all the non structural stuff in preparation, rear end is 6 bolts. Then you have brakes, exhaust etc. I'm only across bridge so could lend a hand if I have the time

Vince at stealth racing, think it was about £90. Tried someone else cheaper once, regretted it immediately after they blew my ecu up.

I don't think it works on corrado unless you have converted to obd2. It was a long time ago when I was obd1 so memory might fail me though, I've got the elm327 Bluetooth thing and torque app though

I run stretched tyres and do not consider them to be dangerous but it depends on the 'stretch', I've seen idiots try shoehorn something daft like a 165 onto a 9" wheel and that is just plain stupid. Another problem I have found is that size of tyre (in same labelled size) differs between manufacturers so there is no definitive answer on what size tyre on what rim.

Yes, ground to ground, and then just connect all lives up.
-
Redborbet did pictures of his wiring but it's really easy, you have 3 lives and an earth, it's up to you if you want to cut the plug off or do it a different way. But just connect the fan earth's to the corrado earth and the fan lives to all the corrado lives. I found a sharan and got the other side of the plug and will be making a loom from the fan side.

Yea fitted them to an oem radiator, my brackets are same as jims. Spal and revotec have same mounting pattern, think others do as well but might be worth a double let check
-
Just take a look at quantity of airflow going through the fan on the spec, I think its safe to say any fan you get will use less power and cool more effectively than standard dark age fan setup. I went for a 9" and 11" revotec from burton power as they were cheaper than spal and fairly similar price. I have heard of people using 1 x 9" and it cooling enough, I went for the twin setup as I have had cooling issues in the past.

ChrisL on here has the drawings for the brackets, he had them made last time. I've got some drawings but never made and tested them as Chris' price was very good! You can retain the 2 speed, simply put a resistor between stage 1 fan and positive feed but you might as well just wire them full speed. More hassle to retain the different speeds unfortunately

I just got a £10 bill for 1 phone call to Adrian flux, pretty ****ed off really.

I used to race 4wd buggy, havnt done it for years. Had a losi xx4 which got converted to an X factory X-5. Would love to do it again but all my gear will be ancient now. Have a look on oople for discussions on spec, I used to get stuff from apex models.

Make sure it is exactly the same not just any old vr6 because different ages and obd1/2 are different, don't mean to teach you how to suck eggs if you know this already. Master cylinder is a git to remove, takes some wiggling and a bit of swearing, make sure you have cloths spare incase you pull clutch cylinder pipe out. Can't think of anything else, just go easy and don't rush, I've done it countless times, worst bit is master cylinder

Try giving the maf a clean with electrical cleaner, presume yours is the early horrendously expensive one so a clean might be first port of call before you start spending cash. You could also try taking the car for a spin with maf unplugged and see if it makes a difference
-
Guarantee its MAF, its always MAF. Get it up to temp, unplug it, if engine splutters its fine, if it doesn't do anything its not working and would explain a lot of the symptoms above. When MAF goes it always throws up a lambda fault.

Most of the Corrado's I see at shows are ones someone has spent months in their garages building it up and making sure its perfect but driveable, most of the features I read are "I bought this car looking a state and sent it straight off to *insert current in fashion spray shop here* to work their magic". If Corrado's ever start going up in value I think we might see more but you are more likely to see money back from a modified golf than you are a corrado. Personally I'd love someone to feature my car but sadly it will never happen because I'm not prepared to sacrifice driveability and smooth out things that make my engine run in the name of fashion.

Checked fuses in fan controller?

Massive thanks for all your hard work over the years andi, best of luck for the future! Make sure you get little one into a corrado! -
Feel like a new corrado owner as it's been in the garage for soooo long

There is a like button! I know the feeling, mine goes away for winter and it's brilliant feeling pulling it out for summer -
I think from memory Vince used to work for Gemini so I'd assume he knows his way round a gearbox pretty well. If you were thinking of flogging as spares or repair I might be interested depending on price.

Yes it works to a degree but using toilet paper as running shoes also works to a degree. My mate tried a 2.8 ecu with a 2.9 inlet and it idled fine but it didn't drive right. By all means spend the money but I'm just warning you. I've been in the exact same position as you with a cp ecu, they are hard to find but unfortunately it's because it's late corrado only because of the larger inlet. I still reckon it's not the ecu and that's it's immobiliser wiring related. But I can understand its time consuming so not practical whilst at a garage. If you really want to go down the route of removing the immobiliser, send it to vince and he will most likely tell you it's goosed straight away. Think it cost me about 70quid for him to remove the immobiliser from mine.
