Trimsport VW Corrado Carbon Fibre Rear Number Plate Holder
swiftkid replied to G60MAT's topic in Suppliers Forum
Look fantastic, well definitely be in line for the light cover and number plate holder if my bank balance looks OK. When do you think these will be on sale? -
Unplug sensor from rad and bridge wires, you have stage 1, 2 and an earth. If that works it's probably that sensor. If that doesn't work unplug black 2 pin sensor in thermostat housing and bridge them, that's stage 3 fan. If that doesn't work start looking for bad earth's or broken wires

They look proper awesome! But sadly also look very undriveable. If only they made them in 5x100 I'd have a set, in 16 though. This was when I tried my mates set on my VR

Sorry havn't read the full thread but heres my experience, I've had this issue before but I'm afraid it was some time ago so can't remember exactly what it was, it was either wiring to the door handle or the central locking piping. I wouldn't say its the actuator, have you tried turning the key in the lock and getting someone else to try open the passenger door from inside or out? It sounds like its opening slightly then closing which could point to a bad earth or a hole in the central locking pipe (which happened on mine). Try getting to the 3 pin plug in the bottom of your door, unplugging it and crossing the earth and another wire, 1 opens and 1 closes it, if that works happily its your door handle if not look towards piping. Try listening out for air leaks along door shut, my pipe had completely corroded.

Desperately trying to get my paint to look better, and some new wheels but here's a picture before I rip it apart again for winter

I wouldn't bother with fitting an external oil cooler with temps like that, I've heard people say they can barely keep the oil temps at proper running temperature during colder days. My VR ran similar temperatures but used a bit of oil so I opted for a 10w50 fully synthetic, from what I've read semi breaks down quicker than fully so if you are doing regular oil changes (not more than about 8k maybe?) then it will be fine. I also read that the higher temps break down oils quicker, I think about 130 and above warrants a 10w50 but as its only for short bursts and not all day every day at high temps its not a problem

G1/7 is your permanent live, the ecu grounds it. G1/10 is your switched live
-
Relay 428? Depends what your car started life as but mine uses the standard vr6 ecu relay for its switched live

Just an FYI guys, I went to scrappy over the weekend and found a seat alahambra, on the ones with the single radiator fans they have the opposite side of the corrado fan plug so you can create an oem loom... Which I intend to do! You can also find them on ford galaxy's and vw sharan's of a similar age. Will sort a loom out and post when done. Also have 2 sides of a newer vw plug but pins are slightly smaller :-( -
Corrado Part Duex - 24V Aqua Blue - She's gone.

Thought it wouldn't take long, I had to stop myself checking my bank balance for it! Everything I want to do but already done, I presume the new owner is on here? Perhaps an existing blue corrado owner? -
Definitely rocking horse poop, I spent ages trying to find one, put it on and it snapped off a day later... Argh!!

I had mine on show on the saturday and sunday, my sister had booked the stand for sunday last minute so was pretty out of the way, we decided to go up on sat as well seeing as there was room. Didn't take any pictures and havn't seen a single picture online of it yet though :(
-
Corrado looked stunning, such attention to detail. Makes me realise I have plenty to do to get it up to standard... Oh and a turbo!
-
Yea cracking weekend, feeling a little burnt now. Nice to meet you guys albeit briefly
-
Ahh awesome, I've got mine on my sisters stand on the sunday so you can see your old wheels! I'll try pop across and say hello but I don't know any faces, or many names from VR6OC for that matter.

So who's going? Didn't make it there last year in the Rado but its my first show this year with the car. Heading there after work tonight and very much looking forward to it!

I like the idea of 4wd, to be honest I like the idea of rwd better. My mate is doing a 4x4 mk2 golf at the moment so going to see how he gets on then have a think. Gone are the days of finding a rallye/syncro boot floor and simply welding it in so its not so OEM which I don't like. I've read about people using bmw e36 stuff to go rwd which would be massively fun but a lot of work and would be past the no turning back stage.
-
I've seen some very good work come out of HR Engineering, I've seen him do a 4x4 caddy 1.8t, a few space frame mk1 golfs, mid engine stuff etc. that all look very well engineered

I'm looking at getting some better products as well, was commenting on how good yours looks on facebook last night vaghag! I used to use super resin religiously and it does indeed give a fantastic finish every time but since reading up on it, it contains a whole lot of fillers that just mask the scratches and swirls temporarily. I've bought myself a DA and Scholl s17+ is absolutely fantastic for getting swirl marks out. At moment my range is Wash: meguiars cleaner/deswirler: Scholl s17+ (used with DA) polish: CG Black Hole sealant: carlack68, came with wax, havn't tried it much so don't really know what it does wax: Collinite 915, its expensive stuff but I've had it about 4 or 5 years now and still not used half of it My paintwork is in fairly good condition but really struggling to get that fantastic reflection, anyone got any recommendations?

Takes me to same page, how much are they? Seen them once or twice before, thought they looked good!
-
I'd be interested in 1 or 2 if price was reasonable, saw some guy on Facebook selling one the other day and people were suggesting he put it up for stupid money
-
Easy fix though! fingers crossed for next time. Plugs might need a clean now though
-
Yea top one is wrong! Just looked and in that thread the guy said he has 1 and 5 mixed up, massively unlucky it's the first image that pops up!

I'd go with the chat route, make sure your both happy, nothing worse than paying for a fence to get put up and starting an argument. As long as it's not adjacent to a highway (public footpath, road or any means of access the public has a right to pass over), you havnt had permitted development rights removed and it's not over 2m you won't need planning permission. For your own peace of mind just submit a pre planning application (should be free and don't need to submit architects plans) and they will tell you in writing.

I think the firing order is stamped on the coilpack itself but anyway, looking at it from offside, starting top left is 6, 4, 2, bottom row 1, 3, 5. I would link a picture but I'm on my Mobile, just Google vr6 firing order coilpack and there's thousands of images. I'd check plugs, then make sure you are getting fuel to the rail, make sure fuel relay is fully pushed in as I've heard people knocking them out of fusebox. Double check all your earth's and make sure ecu plug is fully in. As for thermostat, the seal is usually a snug fit so if it slides on easily then it's wrong, I might have a spare housing to try if you need it
