My mate beat me in a race last week quite easy. He has a 16v golf. Hes just had the belt done and all the timing and mixture sorted and it is quicker than mine. How can i beat him? Thinking of putting 50mm inlet on before getting mine setup? Any other ideas cos hes doing my head in now.

Really want to do this to mine but need to get the 50mm inlet manifold on first or do it at the same time :/

how much would it cost to get the valve stem oil seal done if it was that?
-
Mine has the same thing. Only one plug has oil on it. The others are fine. Does burn oil and have to top the oil up every now and then (every 6 weeks) and u can smell it burning oil :(

how much extra power would u gain froma 2.0L bottom end and how does the different size bottom end increase the power?

it all started when the nut came of on the top of the throttle body where the cable connects to it (dont know its name). It meant that the black switch on the throttle body wasnt being engauged when throttle wasnt being pressed. Put the nut back on but didnt seem to click the switch on still (Wasnt returning enough to normal position and not pressing switch in). So moved the switch fully across to the left. The siwtch now gets pressed in but still not idling right. Cant see how moving the switch a touch to the left would affect anything but then stranger thing have happened??

I love the MK2 Golf. I had a 8v and my mate has had 2 16v's now. I paid £1500 for mine and mate paid £1400 w/FSH. Cheap to run and parts cost very little too. I would love to get a g60 mk2 but we will see?? Had my mk2 for a year and nothing went wrong with it really. Always started etc. I dont like Mk3 golfs. Way too heavy :/

After seeing this link i thought i would take a look under the bonnet to see anything that might be affecting my car running cold. Found a smallish vacuum pipe that had poped off at some point. Started car from cold and was perfect. So if ur 16v is running like poo from cold like mine was then have a check cos everything under the bonnet does somthing no matter how small it is :?
