  1. My loom should be coming next week. Does any one know where you can buy these bulbs? Its just I want to get them fitted and headlamps aligned when its in the garage on Monday. Halfords :? :?:
  2. Sorry Dr Mat- I must have misinterpreted your post- It looks like said you have had two sensors go, one causing an intermittent light and one causing a solid light- the difference between the two being one was an 'open circuit' and the other was an 'implausible signal'. All I was saying is that neither of those would cause an intermittent light- both would cause a solid light. I know that- I said it myself about eight posts ago
  3. Yeah I think thats right- I had a camber issue with a rear wheel- Garage said its either a bent rear stub axle or a bent rear beam- theres nothing adjustable on a VR setup :(

    help

Thats not a good start  :) :) Can't help you with the turbo problem though :(
  5. Cheers :) , yeah I bet he was pretty gutted. I bet there are some pretty unhappy Boxter drivers around too, having suffered the same kind of defeat :) although not yet at my hands :(
  6. there is no difference between 'open circuit' and 'implausible signal' as far as the ABS brain is concerned- both will cause the light to come on solidly. When the light comes on intermittently the sensors output is varying between a 'plausible' signal and an 'implausible' signal- thats what i found strange- you would think it would either be broken or not but that doesn't appear to be the case. Wierd :?
  7. Yeah it was mental. I'm the same as you in that it pulls straight to 140mph but then flattens off quickly after that. I wasn't gonna let the Civic win but it really was flying. He was in front and just kept going faster and faster and then, when we hit 148mph, the VR just found a power spot and just ate up the distance between us forcing him to move over. I'm not that proud of it cos it was a Saturday afternoon on the M1 north of sheffield- everyone else just stood still. The VR is not modified at all - just seems a good strong standard engine If you know Durham well then you'll know how good the A1 is for going fast and not geting caught :) I live (ed) in Nevilles cross- am only there till the end of the month though, then moving down to Leeds for work  Durham is a beautiful place as well. Cheers
  8. It Not true. Don't know how a sensor works but they can give varying resistances when on their way out- sometimes will fall within tolerance of ABS brain so no light, sometimes will fall outside and flag up the fault light. It sounds daft but it really does happen :? Cheers
  9. Yeah I'll second Admiral- £2.5k worth of repairs on my storm- again at a superb bodyshop With Flux now though because they beat the Admiral renewal quote by £300 quid Cheers
  10. Mine shows just over 70- climbs to over 100 when stuck in traffic. Its a bit strange its runs at 90 all the time IMO. Not sure how a thermostat housing change could affect the running temp in any way though :?
  11. I wouldn't have thought Civic type R's would be easy meat for any VR6. I had a spat with one on the M1 and he pulled me to an indicated 152mph!. Not sure the C would have got there by itself if I was being honest. When I did get to about 148mph tho it must have brought me into some mini 'powerband' cos i started munching into the distance and he pulled straight over :) I guess if you have made a type R look bad, you must just have out torqued him- a better driver might have put that VTEC to better use! Cheers
  12. It makes a great difference to the feel of the car/ gear change- well worth the money. One small side effect is that you get a great sounding 'harmonic' from the engine when coming off the throttle from high revs in first/second- it sounds like a turbine winding down and everyone looks round and wonders whats under the bonnet 8) Saying that I have got the track spec one- don't know whether the normal one would do the same :? Mike
  13. You know I saw an advert for the new Clio 182 cup- its much more highly specced then the old 172 cup and only save 20kg over the standard 182- and yet they reckon just because of this its got a faster 0-60 time. Scary that 'apparently' such a small amount of weight can make a significant difference :?
  14. Hide it during the week- abuse it for the weekends- Thats what I'll be doing as soon as I can afford to run two cars- even if it means the Corrado going into storage for a year or two first. Theres to many muppets on the road toda- I am starting to get fed up of the ultra defensive driving I feel I have to use when I am out in the C. Can't wait to drive just a 'normal' car on the daily commute- knowing the C is safe and dry in the garage :)
  15. Yeah your right Scott- Shouldn't judge it without having been in one first. The teg has got such a good reputation for handling tho... but even so Mike
  16. Looking through previous posts on this its almost always the sensors. Get them on a multimeter before you start panicking about expensive bits like ABS control units going wrong 8) Its a doddle to fit them yourself as well and I don't think a new sensor was that expensive (£20- £30 odd quid) Mike
  17. If you use the search there are some good posts about testing the sensors yourself without using VAG COM. The sensors run up into engine bay and there are connectors on top of the suspension struts. IIRC you just unplug the connector and test the resistance on the sensor side. It should be something like 1.4 K on both sides. (not 100% on that reading tho so have a look thru previous posts) Cheers
  18. Thats a nice thought- if they are only twelve quid new tho I'll get a new one. Its just with the postage on top it will start to add up. Thanks though 8)
  19. Oh if it only £12 its not worth the bother. I'll just change the tank then Cheers
  20. Its a good guide but I have already had the seat in pieces- theres no obvious burning- its a clean broken wire- I can switch the relay on and off by pressing at acertain point on the seat base :? . Neither element is working at the moment so am going to buy a new one- fix the old one when I have time/ patience; swap that with the passenger side one, then fix that and flog it on ebay. Assuming they are identical? Cheers for the thought tho 8)
  21. Hi Am finally getting round to the bolster replacement next weekend, and will be replacing a duff heated seat element at the same time. Is it worth changing the bottom pad as well i.e the one you sit on. Are there any suprises when you come to do the replacement; lastly does anyone know how much they cost? Cheers
  22. Hi, As per per post title. I can't help but feel that the expansion tank is leaking around that central join (maybe its made up of two parts and this join is where they were moulded together :? ). The cololant is going down slowly and theres a big pink 'tash along the join!! Has anybody had this happen to them?, or is it more likely to be seeping along from one of the hoses? The caps been replaced and doesn't appear to be leaking. I know its worth replacing anyway but I just had the money down for a new heated seat pad and some leads- could do without the expense at the moment :( Cheers
  23. Hi, Both my struts rattle when the tailgate is open but they are fine when the tailgate is shut cos they are pushing so hard against the mounts. U sure its the struts? Don't mean to sound patronising cos you should know it being your car an all. Its just I had a big anti rattle campaign in the boot a month or so back. The worst culprit was the long black piece of trim lying at the top of the rear window. Creaked like a byatch at every bump. I took it off and put a load of thin foam on the back- made such a difference. The other culprit was the the rear wiper motor housing- just on the sides where it rubbed against the tailgate... could be worth looking at Cheers
  24. and the sun is shining which makes that Blackberry Metallic paint job look soooo good- My favourite colour too :)
  25. Its almost 100% likely to be a bent stub axle. It is technically possible to distorte the whole rear beam but the stub axle should give out first. Mine was visibly bent- I think its a piece of cake to fit- your only problem is that the wheel won't come off cleanly due to the distortion in the axle- but a bit of bashing should get it off. Your car will feel soooo different :) Aren't you getting uneven tyre wear on the affected side as well? i Mike
