  1. True, i suppose you forget how your car looks to others when its your daily........ little do they know its slowly rusting back into the ground from where it came........ :norty:
  2. Does anyone know the best place to get this ?, suppliers are a bit thin on the ground (or i can't find them) i think it makes sense to go for a 25 litre drum.
  3. I have an Alfa 156 2.5 v6 and people seem to think they can drive precisely six foot behind me, maybe they think i should be breaking the speed limits everywhere, but at 25mpg i like to poodle. I have driven 7.5t trucks for 15 years and i think courtesy went out of the window years ago, in the end i hated risking my life (and my license) for a job, which is why i now work in an office. In my C it does seem to attract every idiot on the road who wants to race me, i dont think it matters to them what you drive if you are in front of them you are in the way.
  4. I got a rear one (oe) a year or two ago it was................£115........:shocked!: The non vw ones i wouldn't bother with, the way i see it the original lasted 18 years........
  5. Bit cheeky, but would you do £150 posted on the raceland mani ?
  6. My slave cylinder went, all it takes is a very small leak and it lets air in, the leak is only visible when you take the old one out cos it leaks on the inside. About £30 from gsf. It'll be knackered, and i bet it happens again, if it does just change it, it'll have nothing to do with the cap......... Dont mention it..............
  7. I'm thinking now i need Vince to fit these, as i'm not looking forward to doing it myself................
  8. My mate has a hyundai 4x4 which he rates highly, says it does 30ish to the gallon, it starts with an "s" i think............ Its a terracan, so its starts with an "s" then...........:bonk:

    VR6 head

Is there not a mark on the flywheel, under the little plastic cover just to the left of the gear cables ?
  10. Bloody Milltek exhausts, i have tried about 6/7 times to get mine to fit right, it doesn't, and don't think it ever will, like you it knocks on the cut out of the rear bumper and is slowly melting it away......
  11. mmm its not a bad list, maybe im being a bit patriotic asking about James Hunt, i wouldnt have minded being him for a week though such a cool bloke.
  12. What about Graeme Hill, James Hunt, Fangio , Stirling Moss ?

    Rotiform BLQ's

They look really easy to clean.........
  14. Good stuff, i really thought this was going to fall flat on its face...........
  15. Man thats a huge bummer, surely you can come to an arrangement with the insurance company ? Most definitely fixable, chin up chap may not be as bad as you think........... Dont start me on women drivers in big 4x4 thinking they own the road........ :agrue:
  16. Oh, i think im gonna leave this to someone who knows what they're on about............ :tumbleweed:
  17. Whoops, well i have never had a G60 thats my excuse and im sticking to it.................. So the dizzy has a vacuum pipe which advances the timing ? Its been a while since i had a car with a dizzy but the Audi i had had a vacuum pipe which would advance the timing with engine speed. A backfire normally indicates timing issues, so i would look at the dizzy as you say. Your fuel pump, wouldnt that just starve the car of fuel at peak demand ?
  18. The way i see it, if you don't do it now you'll never do it, just get it done and worry about the other stuff later.......... Thats what i've been telling myself anyway.........
  19. I had the predator pads, even though they have lasted, they did crack up a bit, and on the edge i did lose small lumps. So i wouldn't be buying those again, looks like they cant handle the heat, and that was on standard VR brakes with the black diamond drilled and grooved disks. And the top mounts will move around when you turn the steering as the angle of the top mount follows the strut which changes angle as you turn, as long as the turning motion is smooth nothing to fret about.
  20. Have you tried another MAF sensor ?
  21. Maybe you could wait until the charger is back on before you start it, i would have the car in a fully built up state and then go from there. Without an intimate knowledge of oil flow it'll be quite difficult to make any definitive diagnosis, however if the engine is fully built then the problem is what you have got, rather than what you haven't got, if that makes any sense. Oil pressure would be quite low below 2000 revs and, would increase a lot, further up the rev range. It is possible that if any components are taken out of the oil circulatory system, then strange things may happen, as you are liable for too much or not enough oil pressure. Let us know how you get on, because i for one would like to know the outcome.
  22. Perhaps a seized tappet may have cause it........ Its a strange one thats for sure. maybe if you could work out which wheel stripped the belt that would help, did you look for any marks on the wheels ?
  23. Although that is a perfectly plausable explanation, i also have had issues (with the ABS light of doom) when the battery was not fully charged, it has been mentioned before about there not being enough charge to pressure the abs pump, and it doesn't reset itself until you switch off then on again (when you've gone for a run in it and the battery is back to health) At least the OP has two leads to follow, i may add that as i store mine in a garage over winter i do routinely spay the connectors with WD just to help things a bit as the they can be temperamental, that alone has made the ABS light go out a few times. Just thought i would be sensible for a bit...............
  24. Or you could steal one for £0 +vat. Sorry, i've always wanted to say that.............. :cuckoo:
  25. That sounds good, subframe bolts you wouldn't have nuts with.... On a side note when you do get the correct bolts use a bit of thread lock and torque up when the car is on the deck, i say this because i didnt use threadlock and all the bolts came loose and i lost one of the bolts above the wishbone............ :bonk:
