  1. I think its automatic, but i would like to know the answer also to how people turn words into links, im sure the answer will solve both queries...... :salute:
  2. Just a little update, i went to VW and the lines between the reservoir and the ABS are obsolete, that includes the rubber sections each end (the whole line including rubber hose are one part number) which i would have thought are the parts i could get from a motor factors. I found the lines on a French site of all things but they are 46e each line so will be just replacing the rubber parts. However what i cant get are the grommets that are in the abs pump which the plastic elbows push into to complete the connection. So i could get the vacuum hose grommet (on the servo) and the ones between the reservoir onto master cylinder so hopefully one of those will fit the abs pump end. As a side note the VW chap said that on Passats anyway the maximum pressure they use is 1 bar and i have been using 20psi which may have over stressed each end of those lines (rubber hose onto reservoir and the abs pump plastic elbow into rubber grommet.(where mine is leaking) Please tell me if that doesn't make any sense.........
  3. Funnily enough they did mention it in the commentary, about someone being called the new Merckx, cant remember who it was though. It did remind me of that scene in only fools and horses when they shook hands in the toilet BEFORE they washed their hands....
  4. I really want Cavendish to win a couple more stages, he's on 21 now and is sixth on the all time list of stage wins. Wiggo is looking better the hillier it gets, his team today were fantastic, i dont know where Cadel Evans team were, so important to have a strong team, could be the difference in the end....
  5. I dont think you necessarily need to check the back as you can only adjust the back using shims behind the stub axles, and it'll be a lot of faffing about, if you want to know one way or the other what way the back wheels are pointing or set up then get it done, may only be a few extra quid, but the results unless well out, are academic. The front however is a different story, and you need the tracking and camber angle set up with laser equipment, as soon as you can, but some people do get it set up roughly and drive it for a bit to let the springs settle down a bit. Over the first few weeks/months the height will drop a bit (maybe 10mm or so) as the set up settles, maybe you could ask whoever does it, whether you can take it back in a few weeks to get it checked again.
  6. There's still time for it spiral downwards........ Funnily enough my flab also moves quite freely, i dont think stealth could modify that.:nono: I think dickie didn't understand what he was letting himself in for.........
  7. Just to let you chaps know, mine came through the post this morning.... cheers Vince........ :thumbleft:
  8. I know i have gone on a bit about it, im glad you have taken it in your stride. Good luck mate, i hope you get what you want for it..... :D
  9. I have no problem with that at all, point is if its so great why hasn't someone bought it ?
  10. Its a niche market within a niche market and that market is dwindling as you say, and what with people being scared of losing their jobs £1400 is a lot of money, that was what the original point was. I thought i may had inadvertently started a row, that wasn't my intention, so i appreciate the responses.......
  11. Mmm just giving my opinion thats all, what with the economic situation at the moment and all. I suppose if it is so rare someone will bite his hand off..........saving 1hrs work when you change your plugs wouldn't convince me i was getting a good deal, im not trying to be negative just realistic. I suppose having a VSR v VGI debate on someones for sale thread may not be the wisest debate i have ever instigated, but i did wish the seller luck with the sale. Someone will come along and buy it im sure, just to shut me up........
  12. Yeah thats what i meant the rubber hose each end of the metal pipe which goes across the bulkhead (between reservoir and abs unit), i just thought you may of made these up, its got braided fabric over the rubber. If you havent thats fine, i can look to get these from VW or like you say go to a motor factors.
  13. I think i'll pass thanks, just wondered if you had any knocking about, i used an ezebleed kit and i think the pressure is just too much for 19 year old rubber........... I think i'll try to buy new, or take the old one off and have new bits of hose put on it they are only a few inches long each end.
  14. Im sure i can use dribble as grease on these bearings....
  15. My opinion is mate, its just too much money, not saying its not worth it, but when you can buy a schrick for £700-800 why would you pay double for the VSR ? Good luck anyway mate, i would be interested to see what it does go for...
  16. I think i may have a leak between the reservoir and the ABS unit, have you knocked up any of those yet ? Sorry for being lazy just didnt want to read 14 pages.........
  17. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1264409 Looks like you wont need to knock an elaborate shape up, according to this anyway.........
  18. Glad you got this sorted MikeVR6, looks like i can come out from behind the sofa now.......:) It does sound like Dude VR6 has given you the green light, i had, like you, made certain plans with my cams to make sure everything is in place for when i get them.
  19. The money for the cams came out of my account on the 18/6, then i would think 2-3 weeks to come from the us of a, a week to package and send the cams out including postage time, so i would say about a month after the money comes out so around the 18/7 thats when i would think they will arrive. Although any hold up at customs would extend that, im trying to be patient as well, but am curious also.........
  20. I did answer this on your original thread. I would say your slave cylinder is knackered, take it off the gearbox, still attached to the fluid pipe and look inside (where the piston is) if there is any fluid at all it'll need replacing as its letting air in..... The cap doesn't let air in to the fluid, its not physically possible for that to happen, but any leak, anywhere on the system will, including inside the slave cylinder.
  21. I think the whole engine is circa 300kg with all the ancillaries.
  22. It's not complicated, but i wouldn't get cheap top mounts and they are just a lump of rubber, i was going for longevity cos they're a pain to change
  23. It does sound like a servo/vacuum pipe related problem, i once had a mk1 golf with no servo and my backside would leave the seat when attempting to stop, it had a rock hard pedal and very little braking force.
