I have been looking for this information for months! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: 140 pages of search results is not for the win. Am I right in thinking that the std VAG oil front shock absorbers do NOT spring back by themselves? I have a shedload (literally) from various cars and kits and am trying to work out which ones are dead. I have a matched pair that came with the KW kit I got recently. The pistons are happier going down under force than they are coming up via me pulling on the rod (is this right?) but if you leave them fully up, they are pretty much neck and neck returning to normal position (I know it's not very scientific, but I'm approximating their downward movement at roughly 2mm per second.) Also, am I right in thinking that oil shocks are old technology and gas ones are better? If these shocks I have turn out to be in VGC after all is it worth putting them on and building them up as complete struts or should I really be looking at getting some gas ones? Please remember it's a budget build! Thanks for the help  Jonny.

:brickwall: :help: sorry to hear that broseph. Still, the end is in sight and it is a Corrado: did you expect a fault-free engine conversion?

Yandards' Nugget G60 - gone but not forgotten..

Are mk2 8v fuel pumps not the same/similar looking at part numbers? Perhaps that might lower the price if a new pump is needed. Sorry to hear you're having problems though. -
It does go some boostmonkey, especially as it's coupled to a Peloquin. The torque curve is not really flat, so it creeps up from 3000 to where it peaks, but the main pwerband is from 3000 to 5500. I'll get a scan of it up when I get home. There is still a little more to get out of it, and Darren is refining the map, so there might be another 5bhp and lbft to get. Even now though, as a scientist I can't stop fiddling. I see in the group buy section there is a buy for schimmel water/methanol injections systems on. Me thinks I see the next toy :D You've couple a falcon to your engine?! Not heard of that mod before... Yeah, do get the graph up, that would be much appreciated. I'll have to send you those thermo notes sometime soon as I have some free time at the mo :salute: water/meth injection sounds like good fun too! Steam clean those pistons...mmmmm.

200lbft must make it go some! Glad to hear you got it dyno'd at last Jonathan  Edit: That is quite a high rpm for torque to peak at. Did the cam push the powerband up that far?

location of the cold start valve on 1.8 16v???

The CSV is on the right hand side of the inlet manifold. It had a blue 2 pin wiring connector and a banjo fuel line going into the end of it. Undo the banjo fuel line (prepare to mop up any petrol that may leak out) and undo the two allen bolts holding the CSV onto the manifold and that is it. Very simple job :salute: -
Pics are up now my good man.

What and Where are these supposed to go ????

Two green bad boys wrapped up and coming from behind the coil eh? Interesting. I'll have a peek in the morning, see what I can find. :salute: -
Keep going Neil, it's looking awesome! Also, could you let me know the deal on back plates if you do get round to ordering them? Ta :salute:

3M Spray Mount / Spray Adhesive :thumb right: ^^^ or some such. That's what the retrim boys on the Tex use.... I read way too many resto threads

Ah Rob all is not lost! I may have a spare... :salute: Good to see you at Toad's shindig btw  I completely didn't realise that there is a bottom 'apron' on the rad support panel, through which the PAS cooler goes, so I need to source one of those panels too now! :confused4:

103 Flippinghot  ouch.

iirc, we don't get rustoleum over here. Hammertime satin black would be the same kinda stuff though, unless someone else makes a true matt finish protective paint for the UK?
-
Yeah rustoleum is good stuff, and should be fine :salute:

I'd check the oil level again, I've accidentally overfilled cars before!
-
Well, it definitely shouldn't be smoking on startup at all, for starters. Is it when you floor the pedal that the smoke starts? Sounds like perhaps the car has been overfilled with oil, is that possible? The smoke on a cold start is most likely the valve stem seals starting to go.
-
I have no picture hardware :salute: Found your Optio S yet?
-
What gear are you in when it starts smoking? It's more likely to be to do with engine speed as opposed to road speed I would think. Does it puff smoke on startup or not?
-
Sucks buddy. I'd hassle them a lot about it.

Good updates today! Got up early (i's results day) and fitted my new gearchange turret top which means my reverse switch works properly and subsequently the lights come on! Also, stripped the old rear beam from the scrapper. Had some good stub axles and brake shields on (even though it'd been rolled over pivoting on the discs!) so I'm hoping to keep them. Lastly, fitted the steering rack to the subframe and bolts it to spec. Fooked my thumb up whilst doing so cos the socket slipped :bad-words: but I'm young so it's ok. Just heard from the job agency too, they might have work for me = doing even more to teh Corrado! :salute:

Any news on the new clusters, bro?

love the flat black yo! Annoyed that POR is glossy, cos I love the flat look. Oh well, it's more functional than formal I guess Yeah, red samcos will be WAY overpowering if you're just looking to pick up minor detail in red. Here's a VR with red pipes: :) Prodigal has blues on his, perhaps he'll take a photo for you :)

mmm, metallics seem to change colour between wet and dry :bad-words: experimenting is half the fun though! Oh, and we flame WAYYYYY less over here than on the Tex :salute:

rad support ftmfw!!1111!!1!1 I'd do the manifold slightly lighter, save the dark grey for the wheels maybe. My personal choice, sure it'll look good though.

Rust is teh suck. There's a reason I haven't posted underbonnet pics! It ain't pretty... :pale:
