 Ah yes, I remember that purchase since before I left the country!
-
The only available overside piston rings are made from myrrh and cost £100 each.

I'm confused as to how that camber guage works. Did you have to make your wishbone fully parallel to the floor and then measure camber at 2deg or whatever it is? also, isn't that brake shield on the wrong way round? I always thought they wrapped around the edge of the disc, not curved away from them. good thread though :D been meaning to ask you about the TDI swap! nice colour car too ;)

Corrado 20vT Project - update coming soon...
boost monkey replied to MaverickG60's topic in Members Gallery
Interesting, buying goodies before mounting hardware! any chance of getting some higher res or clickable pics? those stamps up above aren't very useful. -
I know the guys who run Team Dynamics. Let me know if you need anything.
-
Is that weird? An engine swap is pushing it for what most people would class as "mods" imo.
-
What mods do you have emu? Would be good to know what they are willing to cover.
-
You could just take it to your local Corrado people

I managed to get a decent quote from FJ for my 1990 16v, despite it not being garaged ever. It was £150 FC albeit with 1500 miles limited.

2K to spend on my car, what to do first?
boost monkey replied to stingman123's topic in General Car Chat
it all depends on what needs doing with your car. What still needs replacing? -
Got my proof of NCB through from HIC. I genuinely believed Brentacre insured my Corrado and argued about it on the phone! it's only doing a search on here that I found out I had mentioned HIC, so I tentatively phoned them up and gave the reg number and bingo! I've understood a bit better about footman james now. They will honour NCB up to 3 years after it was issued, but only on modern car policies as the classic car policies don't use NCB for discounts or anything. So, I don't have to insure my C with them to be able to use my NCB, but I will have to take out cover with them (or another company who allows NCD to be used up to 3 years after issue) within the next year for the 4years NCD to be kept. I wonder who else allows up to 3 years for NCD to be used...

I say stick with mum's Polo, probably less stress in the long run

I think just replacing like for like shouldn't be too bad. It would be done in conjunction with an existing loom so would involve measuring and writing down which wires went into each location on the connectors. Yeah, I've experienced the brittleness and frailty of engine looms before! You go to change a sensor and the wire snaps off in your hand like a twig It's a must on my dashboard really, it's such a mess under there. I think I have pics of it somewhere, must post one up!
-
Just remembered I have a number of looms from the midnight blue I scrapped. I'll be able to find out which each of the looms is, and then perhaps take lengths of wires etc. Working of connectors and wire locations in connectors might be a bit harder.
-
Hey guys, Has anyone ever attempted this? I'm wondering (with the help of some wiring guides) how easy/hard it would be to rewire in stock OEM colours the dashboard and beyond. I know mine has about half a mile of red wire in, and I've spoken to Supercharged in the past on the subject of getting the correct colour/striped wire to do the job with. Perhaps if some kind of OEM loom with lengths of wire, connector types and locations can be outlined we could get some standard replacement dash looms that everyone can use :D perhaps an early loom covering all the original layouts and then a late spec loom for all the later spec cars (if anything is different of course). This would also be possible for the engine looms (those of us who are still standard!) as long as all the connectors/fittings are still available. Off the top of my head you could have the following (may not be 100% accurate): Electric Windows / Central Locking loom linked into OEM controller behind OSR doorcard, Full headlight and taillights loom including uprated fronts, Sunroof and mirrors loom (might be possibly to piggyback on another loom?) Dash control loom (dash clocks, heater controls, cig lighter, etc etc) Engine looms (2.0 8v, 1.8 16v, 2.0 16v, 1.8 G60, 2.9 VR6) Just thoughts :D

Well driving 4 wheels as opposed to 2 is going to have its effect on the mpg also.
-
I don't think the calipers have part numbers on, at least I have never seen them.
-
Looks interesting, but saying that 4wd turns the C into a performance car isn't entirely true. Over your side of the pond there is a FWD 16vt who runs 11s and his wife uses it as a daily. So I think FWD is pretty reasonable. Surely, that haldex will cost $$$$$$$$$$?

wow, for the price of a dealer service you could buy my car! Welcome to the forum :D
-
Hey, we're here for the free ham...?
-
Khawar, your prices continue to shock and astound! That is an insane price for a KR, much more like 9A money. You can get good KR blocks for way way under £50. Mine cost £20 from a forum member. Normally people help each other out on here with decent prices
-
that's a rip off, get on ebay. You'll find a decent PAS pump on there. Mk2 golf items should fit :salute:

Well she's Portuguese/South African (eh bru eh eh eh bru bru eh bru), never owned a car over here and I think she's always driven her parents cars overseas. It just looks bad on the online quotes as she's held a full licence for Planning to get the plum insurance :D and hoping (maybe) I will get the Mrs into a corrado too! She seems to like the dark red ones(Bordeaux). At the very least if some pikey robs the Plum, I'd be covered for theft! all those VAG parts must be worth something...
-
Yeah, FJ said they don't use NCB for their classic policies but they would honour it for a modern car policy as they accept NCB from up to 3 years ago. Result! Quite happy with that :D I did tell them the plum was standard, I wonder if they'll decide a stainless exhaust is a defilement. It's a bit moot really, as that car ain't going anywhere right now.
-
Just got a quote from Footman James on my Corrado to keep my NCB going. 1500 miles a year, fully comp, £150. Seriously thinking about taking that up, as 4years NCB must be worth more than £150. I'l be getting married at the end of May, and my fianceé has only just transferred from a 9 year international licence to a UK one, so she has 0 NCB in her own name.
