Cazza's Storm- Gone :( ...S3 Has Arrived! :)
boost monkey replied to CazzaVR's topic in Members Gallery
I'm well up for round two if you wanna pop back over matey! I realised that after not being around my C for 2+ years, I'd forgotten about all the little evils such as stuck bolts, and female allen carrier fittings! :@ Happy to swap that caliper out with you also if you CBA wqith swapping a seal :salute: -
After looking through my paperwork and doing some window shopping for how much my early 16v would cost to insure again, I had the good news that I have 4 years NCB! I also had the bad news that it was issued lastly in January 2009, and is only valid for 2 years. So I'm trying to work out what to do. Whether it's worth insuring something cheap (maybe even the plum?!) to keep the NCB going. I'm thinking it may pay off in the long run.

I think the Denso Marsden ones are OEM for our cars? Maybe someone can confirm.

Yandards' 16VG60 - Running Report 23 Jul 15

What manifold is that Yan? Also, doesn't Hammerite say on the tin you shouldn't thin it down? -
an obvious one, but have you checked the earths? if something went pop, then the earth point may have got scorched, providing a bad connection from now on.
-
Things every Corrado owner should have: Irwins, PlusGas, Frontal lobotomy.
-
that S4 is really cheap for 4k isn't it?! that's the kinda price I was looking at S2s for.
-
is this the messed up looking pipe that has lines coming off it in all directions?
-
I've done those on my head before. IIRC, instead of pushing the spade onto the flat connector inline with the sensor, you slide it on at 90 degrees (across the top flat) and it should still work fine. No idea why they changed them. If the spade doesn't fit, you might need to replace the wire connector but it isn't too hard.
-
Yeah, they can be a bit fiddly. IIRC you have to take the joint off and swap the boots over and then reassemble the joint.
-
try posting in the 20v thread.

There have been probs with cheap radiators before Rowan, hope yours isn't one of these.
-
as long as you put up more photos of your turtle neck years, i'm sure we will manage :-)
-
the little 1.4 are fine up to motorway speeds. They have close ratios as standard and a snorty Weber/Pierburg on them which does well enough. I had one before my Mi and they're great for urban work. Don't demand the attention or price of a GTi too. Leave more money for the C!

the plastic air guides on each side are best removed using a socket with extension bar attached, they're a bit too recessed for using just a spanner or normal socket iirc.
-
It's a real shame how you've been treated matey. Perhaps if you're able to keep it you will get some of your own spanner time in and learn how things work? I did all that back when I was 18 because I refused to pay some eejit £40 an hour to scratch his head and flick through a Haynes manual. I'm sure if you put out some threads about parts wanted, you may be able to get your car sorted quickly and cheaply with VAG parts, although being a daily might be a bit of a problem. Either way, best of luck.

well i'm guessing the stock VR6 box redlines somewhere about 150ish, if the OEM car was rated for 146mph.
-
Funny how many of us own private roads long enough to do these sorts of speeds  P.s. coullstar, are your wheels from a Delta?
-
I don't think I'd want to do big numbers without scaffolding around me, but then I've done 140 in a peugeot
-
tbh, my mk2 16v was the other car I sorely miss too. So I should be right at home with the C :D My 205 would tramline and get real jittery past 120 too. I only did it a couple of times, and it was enough
-
Ditto, absolutely no special tools needed for the rears, they're pretty simple. You'll be fine :D
-
Definitely! I'd have to say that my pugsley was the best car I ever owned too. But with a fresh 160hp it was a 15sec car, and could pull 140 if you were suicidal enough. I'll try to find a pic of mine, it was all 1.6 on the outside. I'm hoping the Corrado will live up to its reputation. Only time will tell I guess. EDIT: My C will need more than a KR in though!
-
Same. The wide arches actually looked really good! I loved how the T16 bodywork used to scissor at the back too :D Simm Simma, who got the keys to my Dimma... The T16

I think someone did make a Speedline replica in 16" instead of the standard 15" of the 1.9 GTi. Perhaps yours had these on. Fixed your post :salute: And to everyone moaning about non PAS cars :camp: :camp: :camp: :camp: :camp: :camp: :camp: I mean, come on!! The 205 is NOT big and NOT heavy.
-
can't you use rubber glue on your current one? I'll check my horrificly large pile of parts and let you know :salute:
