How much does the roof panel actually weigh? And what would be the savings in CF? -
wow

Also, the beauty with ADAMs is that all 17 hardpoints I used for that model can be changed really easily. You just adjust their X Y Z co-ordinates and they jump around! We had to do a tutorial on where to move the upper wishbone inner mounts and rack points to to change the camber compensation to a specific amount. Kinda fun to be able to play around with it, as it will plot graphs of everything too. How much the wheel moves, how much the camber changes as the wheel moves, etc etc etc.

Dude, ( ) what course did you do and where do you work? We got a recruitment guy from MB-HPE last week trying to get us to apply for the Benz F1 team stuff, seems they're up in Brixham in Northants.
-
Yeah I'm sure it could. As you can see the graphical side of ADAMS is a bit lacking. But what's important are all the hardpoints / pickup points are correct, esp in reference to each other. You'd prob need accurate spring rate data and some compression stats for the damper too, but it should be a much simpler system than this double wishbone with pushrod and bellcrank jobby!

Overtime at 1pm?

Coffee is gooood :D It's nice to be able to design your suspension and know what it's doing before getting the welder out etc. Engineering is fun.
-
where does it connect between?
-
Well, I'm glad you asked. I've been designing a parametric quarter car model in ADAMS (Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems). I can adjust the pickup points to: - create the perfect camber curve and use the model to adjust camber gain, - measure and adjust kingpin inclination to minimise affects on camber whilst retaining required geometry, - measure and adjust castor to offset negative effects on camber from the kingpin inclination, - model a steering rack and analyse bump steer through the range of suspension travel, - measure installation ratio and adjust tyre and spring rates dynamically. I'm sure you had a fun morning too

VR6 Mocal cooler boys - show us your temps!

VAG make their own coolant system flush stuff. I might still have the Part # if you're interested. -
Corrado 20vT Project - update coming soon...

I'd be concerned about keeping the OEM exhaust if you're changing the turbo as your EGTs may increase past the design capabilities of the flexi joint. -
Yeah, you're right. I forgot about the Ed 1's (on noes, the scene police will get me!) Gorgeous colour though. IMHO, the only colour that doesn't suit a C is the red.

The shots are so narrow angle, I think Crazy Dave actually has him some tinted mirrors and he added his VW badge to the last one to make us think it was the rear panel

Thanks buddy... it's been a tumbleweed for about 18 months though. I was at Prod's house again today, and got the urge to do more car stuff (and supported by the fiancée...think I've found a keeper!) and as I said I'd give my seats to a chap from MK, I thought it would be a good time to get craking again. It's been so long what with the placement in the caribbean (oh you didn't know? ) and other things, and finishing my degree (ongoing until May 2011) which have left the car sitting where it is. It's also been so long that I can't remember how far I got! Seems I was doing hard brake lines before I laid it up for it's slumber, so I should crack back on with that really. I've also found tons and tons of parts that I don't think I will end up using, so I will be posting those up here later for peanuts. Always good to help someone else. Looks so awesome covered in the permafrost at the mo, all sparkly :D :camp:

Love the pics Dave :D

Pic request: hi-res side profile pic of a C

Getting there slowly. I'm heeding the advice about perspective, but something like this would at least be good for some aero modelling perhaps. If I lived where my C is I would have taken measurements by now! Used this for outline of both side profile to get a profile brick, and then used rear profile to cut the curves into the sides. Pretty basic, took me about 15 mins. click me - too wide to post as image -
 Better late than never

Welcome to Corrado ownership. If anyone finds a C with a full, unbutchered loom then I will buy them a country.

Thanks nlau, I've always wondered about perspective but never really done graphical design in that way. How was your course? I'm in final year of Motorsport Eng at Ox Brookes :D -

I was planning to get a car at approx ride height (or allow for lowering and diff tyres/wheels etc, and then put a scale into the picture based on the known height if a std C. Or maybe use the wheelbase. It's not exact I know, but without spending hours at MIRA laser scanning a chassis, I'm not sure what else I can do! -
Sweet moses!!!!! how did i miss this thread? it is so epic. Amazing work. Puts me to shame with my half-restoration :(

Yeah I checked Blueprints site, but that pic looks a bit odd. Also, what do you mean by perspective? -
To be fair, the VAG ones are £35 quid and I managed to shear mine off in the head when fitting. It's still there to this day. Mine was the warm up switch, so just runs like a dog until warm. But then mine hasn't run in 2 years, so... Also, the samco line will fit. The old black one is probably so soft that it slips on and off no problem. Surely, by the shape of that stupid pipe you can tell it's the right one? New rubber/whatever they make them from is a lot lot stiffer than old VW rubber pipes with a little bit of cottom string woven in!
