brakes are looking spanking Vaughn :) did you go for the polymer coating they do (which i think is the nicest most expensive one) - it's resistant even to brake fluid! enjoy them when you get em on pal. also that's a good move going for genuine fixings etc as that's the one area that really lets biggred down; they always supply crap quality bolts/fixings...

Pete Griff's 'Rado R32 - (Not quite!) Alive at last! :D

howdy pal, thanks very much for all your efforts with helping to get the car all sorted; i really am chuffed to my balls with it now! don't worry i'll be down once i've got it all sorted out (just for an idea of speediness - my friends' non-standard GT4 which you saw couldn't touch it - he was not amused and is now ordering a boost controller, decat and new ecu! ). i'll make sure (once i've got it all mopped, polished and waxed etc) i get some decent pics of it to put up on the SWICT website. naturally i'll refer as many people to you as possible as well :) cheers again :D -

thank you very much for that - i'm really chuffed i have to say; pleased to be somewhere near the end after all this time. as for the clutch master; they have all been superseeded at the dealers now (as of the end of last year) - all new clutch masters for corrados will be the type i've got with the gay square plastic retaining clip; you have to get hold of a new pedal as well! also if you're after one of those pedals thety are currently on back order from germany! very luckily the next day from when i spoke to you there randomly happended to be an old passat on an m-plate in the scrappy near me which ad the pedal in i needed. £5 lighter and i was a happy boy! :D i'll definitely take it to at least one show once it's all finished and up together, but i don't think i'm a particularly "showy" person! i really enjoyed UD's this year (first real show i've ever been to), and despite the fact i like to keep on top of keeping my car clean, i doubt i'll go to more than a couple of shows a year - guess we'll have to see how much the show bug grabs me! hey pal, thanks very much again. will try and get a vid up before long i promise. as it stands now the car will hopefully be going to get the gearbox done on fri, so if that's not finished the same day, it "should" be by monday evening. tuesday night as long as it's all sorted, i'll be coming down to see the girlfriend, so i can take you for a spin then! :) also if Jon has a free slot on weds that might also be a good time... thanks again bud (and yes i am very pleased :D ) -

cheers bud :) i haven't fitted a cold air feed yet, but the end of the bmc sits about 12" away from the rear corner of the headlight, so i'll probably just get a short piece of the flexi pipe that comes with bmc's and route it into there. edit - will try and remember to get a pic of the engine bay in it's more or less finished state tomorrow... -

I've got it back    however..... in true corrado style it decided that it missed the recovery wagon, so threw a fit on the way home. it shedded both rear carrier bolts on the nearside about 15 miles from home (at 11.45 at night!). had to sit there and wait for ages for the recovery vehicle :( my rear pads have been shredded and the seal on the piston on my calliper and one of the seals on the carrier-sliders has also been given the good news got the new bits arriving at vw tomorrow, so hopefully get it sorted and road-going again by the end of the morning. anyway... the car itself...... it really is chuffing quick! i've still got to get it corner weighted/setup properly, but it really has put a massive smile on my face! so pleased to FINALLY have it back. will update the thread again properly a bit later on, i'm over the moon i've finally got it back though :D :D :D -

hey pal, glad to hear it's all coming together :) it seems you're really not alone with the carrier bolts... i FINALLY got my car back yesterday!   (going to update my thread a little later) and it rewarded me by shedding the bolts when i was about 15 miles from home! my pads have been shredded and the seal on the piston on my calliper and one of the seals on the carrier-slider have also been given the good news :( got the new bits arriving at vw tomorrow, so hopefully get it back up together to get the gearbox sorted on fri. anyway, car is looking good as usual, keep it up! :D -
yep, my bad - you defo need the dash one as you and kip say (don't know how i managed to forget that! :) )

bonnet is a performance trim item (same as mine! :) ) i would paint it matey if it was me; saves on the chavvy image. they do look fantastic and it would go better with your drak paintwork than most, but i would still paint it... car is looking great by the way - very moody with those wheels :D -
that loom is defo the main one you need, unsure as to how much you need out of the other one, if any at all - certainly not much thankfully. as for the pipework that's broken, do you mean the coolant pipework that runs over the exhaust manifold/heatshield, or the downpipes that run on into the cats (should all be a one piece item). either way, i have both the coolant pipework (unnecessary though if you are retaining the original VR thermostat housing/coolant header tank location; which most people do) and the downnpipes/cat assembly - you're welcome to either. i would be after £150 for the downpipe/cat assembly or £25 posted for the coolant pipework. hope you manage to get it all sorted pal, gimme a PM back on here if you need anything :)

i have... :) (winter wheels) Hey they look good mate, always wondered what they would be like. Some pretty fancy rims for winter wheels, I like your style  thanks pal - i'm very happy with the way they look. at bit mean and not classy enough for me if i'm honest, but they are good for the winter (they are new as well, so i won't have to worry about corrosion). got bbs rx's for my summer wheels! (interestingly enough those ABT wheels are made by BBS - they've got it in the casting on the back...) cheers for the compliment! :D

and spend it getting hold of 24 of vw's valves rather than a measley 12! :norty:  I could buy a 24v for the value of the spares I've built up... But I love the old 12v, the engine was the only reason the car didn't get broken. fair enough bud - the 12v does hold a certain charm (even for me!)

if you take it to an engine builder/tuner, they should have the facilities t balance it for you. i was told by a very reputable mechanic that it's the pressure plate on the clutc that puts the bottom end most out of balance. by getting it balanced (same principle as balancing a wheel), it makes the bottom end rev up a bit more freely and eagerly with less flatspots (doubtful you'll notice the difference very much if at all), but the most important thing is it's nicer in the long run for your engine. helix clutches come balanced from the factory! :D
-
hey Dave, glad to hear your car is coming along nicely. good luck with the matrix, i've done mine; it was a tw*t of a job... mr iceviolet, your rebuild is looking great. i love pics like yours - keep em coming! :D
-
helix are the very best, but if you're not upping the power in future then the next best thing is genuine VW :) (why not get the pressure plate balanced before it goes on - make the bottom end all nice then! :) )

dont forget i have my pagparts turbo manifold waiting in the wings Pete 8) R32 turbo! - mwahahahaha!!! :evilbat: :onfire:

are you angling for the most powerful rado on the forum then Mic? :norty:
-
haha - i actaully pieced mine together over a couple of months with cheap ebay deals etc, but if you get in touch with g-werks they sell the whole kits for about £120 i think...

not sure if it would fit... quite possibly, but i never even bothered to try. if you drive the car hard for prolonged periods then the oil will get VERY hot! i once saw 136 degrees out of mine after an extended "spirited" journey! :D better off saving the oil from degrading and prolonging the life of the engine and fitting a mocal IMO (if you will be giving it that sort of abuse obviously)
