StueyBs '95 VR6: Thread resurrection circa 2011...

*Starts singing* "Welcome to the jungle..... we've got Samco and G12!" Great work on the sub matey, better than before I think! Maybe I should have done that :| Bargain £10 sub and box made so much sense though ;) Thanks for the help samco-ing the other night. You and your small hands are invaluable! -
I echo the above really! Years of working on shonky rusty bikes and I never once broke any of the Pro stuff! I used to work there during school/college and through a bit of uni, until I got a job which wasn't slave labour ;)

Green bulbs are rubbish.. Get high power amber LEDs and resistors. My indicators are brighter and more orange than they used to be nowdays, even with the all red rears!

Sounds like you're forumalting a plan... This is how my handywork started life... The built in ones like on your Dad's GayTrail do look really nice btw Andy!

Absolute legend! That's excactly what happned to me after i spent hours wiring in my pods. Thought I'd completely fooked the car and would have to get an auto electrician out.. and I'd have to explain all my wiring to him and hang my head in shame. Fortunately... it was just the dimmer I'd somehow knocked without realising!

Group buy on Rob's services Jon? ;) -
You make some valid points..... But.. I've never seen under 20mpg, EVER. I average about 26 round town.. so I don't know how you managed 18-20!
-
Well, I haven't done this, BUT... I recently made a guage pod holder to fit in the same place in the dash cubby hole. 18mm MDF (what I had spare) and some leathertte... There's even a little hole in the back of the cubby hole for wires (something to do with optional air con controls or something) I really don't see why you couldn't apply the same principles to this. It was all a bit of an experiment to see if I could manage to make something OEM looking after getting annoyed at an ebay company trying to charge a silly amount for some crappy plastic mould. Factors to consider: Speaker is usually in the back of the unit? Muffled sound? Buttons on the top/side edges could cause a problem unless you can easily pop the unit out. THIEVERY (for the same reason) Wiring it in onto a switched live so it doesn't eat your battery Angle of view... not exactly line of sight.....

Anyone used MJM AUTOHAUS? Seem very cheap aswell! http://www.mjmautohaus.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_4_19_241_3847&info=OEM_VAG_021109503A.UPKIT_Timing_Chain_Kit_Dual_Chain_Up_to_1995&products_id=172 Loads of VR kit, even cheaper on things like ARPs etc it would appear?!? -
Yeah, I went down the ol' Egay route aswell for my heatwrap. Did the job fine, just remember to overspec the length you think you'll need! As chazrad said, maybe 15M...or get 20 and don't worry too much about the chopping ;) I went for stainless steel ties to wrap mine.. and I must confess, they weren't great. Maybe this wirelock stuff is better!
-
Remember to heatwrap your manifold wet.... the heatwrap.. not the manifold I mean! This way, when it dries and heats back up, it contracts onto the manifold and doesn't become a flappy mess. The raceland kit is very good for the money, the welds are good and the overall quality of the product is excellent compared to the ashley ones which seem to fall apart (from what I've heard) The heatwrap WILL smoke and smell a bit too when the manifold is back on the car, don't worry too much. As for the raspy sound.. that's exactly how the one on my polo sounded too... got a little quieter as time went on. Josh

Hi guys, Thanks very much for the link, this kinda confirms the results that wiki threw up. they MUST be et50 odd since they've been running on a mk1 golf (with adapters) Lets see what I find eh? Thanks for the help!
-
Hey guys and gals, As it says on the tin, I'm trying to work out what offsets a set of 16x7 and 16x8 teledials would be?! These are the hard to find ones in terms of size.. you normally see the 15x7s all the time with an offset of about 52. If it's about this.. then it will just be the usual adapter/spacer for about 25mm I guess. I do want these to poke a little more than standard wheels, mind. Any help appreciated, been searching on google with no joy! Josh. EDIT - So.... are they likey to be 52?! Will stick out 5 miles if they are 23mm PLUS adapters!

you're trying to lower your car without lowering the ride height? Surely that's a contradiction in terms? I've always imagined the arch gap and actual ride height of the car to be things that go hand in hand really....
