The only thing that will tempt me away from my VR is this: I'd settle for 'just' the 850 CSI though ;) On a more topic focused note - I really don't think many cars come up as well as a VR for speed, serious fun and the ability to cruise around and be as docile as you like. Especially not for the cash. Smiles per gallon..... can't beat em ;)

Newbie In Trouble...... Extreme Arch Rot, HELP!!
mariojoshi replied to JasonB-70's topic in Exterior
Jason! I'm sorry the arch didn't have quite everything you needed :( It was impossible to tell what would and wouldn't be of use when we were cutting it out. Really pleased to see your progress though. You sounded determined to get her sorted, and it looked like you're well on the way! Good show lad! Josh -
This is a shamelss post, But just incase anyone has major problems, i've got a full rear spolier setup and wiring, switch etc kicking about. Only downside is the one of the plastic brackets where it mounts to the boot has cracked off. Anyhow... didn't realise the motor was the same as the leccy water pump?! the one by the dizzy/coilpack?!
-
A little bird told me this was sorted... and that it was my fault for being on the phone to you?!

I'm very happily running dual H4 capped HIDS at the moment :) Initially got flashed becuase of a wobbly headlight! VW checked the beam pattern for me and said it was fine though... (they did that for free.. randomly.. shock horror!)

other things to consider when lowering the corrado!!
mariojoshi replied to Chris Langdon's topic in Drivetrain
Comes from the man with a BMCDA AND Samcos! Heheh, the Samcos were finanically more sensible than replacing one pipe, then another, then another. The BMC is becuase I'm a massive chav! :D -

This probably won't go down too well with some people on here, BUT - I personally wouldn't bother replacing everything just for the sake of it. How long are you planning on having your VR6? Forever? OK - then go for it. If, like me, it's probably a few years, there's virtually no point, unless things are showing definite signs of wear. It's the same with the bloody gruven crackpipe - people buy it because. For virtually no other reason. The originals last about 12 years, so why not save a huge load of money and get another plastic one which will last another 12... I think that mantaining a car to the highest standards is a lovely idea.. but it's financially utopian! -
just come round here and we'll do it! Not wanting to get your hands dirty in your old age?!
-
If you've always wanted a VR... you'll never be happy until you've had one. You've very rightly said that now is a good time to buy. I wouldn't be surprised if prices drop a little more, before going back on the up in... a while.....! Get a VR and charge it =D I'm just about to get a company car (tis pretty much mandatory) which will allow me to take all the workhorse duties of my poor VR...get her charged and really turn her into a proper weekend toy!
-
I don't really understand the point of this... The corrado is fairly unique for having a complete section dedicated for the number plate... it's not like smoothing it off and it blending in with the rest of the car, like on some chavvy corsa! I do agree with Jon that it just seems a little weird and unbalance to have all that black on the back of the car with nothing-ness! Sorry if that sounds a little negative :/
-
There must be a way of sorting those, at the end of the day, it's just a pos and neg feed.... but personally I wouldn't bother. Too much hassle! I haven't found anyone who hasn't been amazed at those bulbs with my red rear lights. Get em sorted!

Anybody know of a "GOOD" garage in Kent, canterbury area?
mariojoshi replied to kwala's topic in Suppliers Forum
Sam's Garage in Wincheap is the dogs danglies! One of the best i've ever experienced. Myself and a friend wouldn't take our polo GTs and polo G40s anywhere else becuase these guys provided such a good service. When they replaced my suspension for me, wheel bolts were properly copper greased, old suspension wraped up and back in the box that the new stuff came in. Always bob on for free advice too. I miss Sam! (Not in Canters anymore) It's just parallel to Wincheap high street on the industrial estate. They aren't a VW specialist exactly, but they do things properly. Like a proper garage should! -
RE: Question - No, why would you?
-
Chevvy wheels are way too 'scene' nowdays!
-
If they didn't do these silly little things... they wouldn't be Corrados :)

Bwahahahah! Jon is the forum chav... by the way. :fondle:

From the USA - (still probably cheaper - but remember your uk DUTY) For the ARPs - not sure about the other bits: MJM Autohaus Four Seasons Tuning Schimmel Performance Google any and you'll find em.

hehe, no worries mate. In my eyes... £155 EXTRA is a serious amount more to spend if you can get mint originals for £80 odd, but no worries. give me a shout if you need em! Josh
-
Genuine ones are £240 a pair but obselete now. I've got a set for sale at £80 plus postage. They are probably the mintest set i've seen 2nd hand and are in better condition that the ones on my car! No stone chips, all plastic tabs intact! PM me for details chap
-
Personally, I think they definitely work! Mine tends to go on if i've got a fair few motorway miles or long journeys to do. Best advice is to hang it up to dry out (after rain) and then turn it inside out to remove the crap that DOES end up under it, otherwise, it can end up scratching your bonnet as badly as the stone chips.

http://www.autobra.co.uk Excellent quality items.

Even after considering my hatred of most things GOLF... I'd still say the Mk2 is your best bet due to all of the sound reasons listed above! Oh, and any smart arses that want to remind me that a Corrado is pretty much just a hand built Golf in a skirt can sod off! ;)
-
How much are they new?
-
Neil, I see your point, but having compared these "tower" bulbs to a set of bulbs exactly like the ones you've detailed above, I can tell you that the former are far superior becuase the illumination completely floods the entire inside of the light unit. You can see the result in the video I posted! I think maybe the severity of the tints on Phil's lights is causing the problem... meaning that an incandescent may do a better job.. in terms of brightness anyway.
-
Can't say I've had any problems at all! Which bulbs did you buy VR6-phil? Crappy ones won't do you any favours. They MUST be ultra bright and have a serious amount of LEDs. My tints are relatively dark... but this shows that it makes little difference with the right bulbs. yes, OK, it's not exactly light outside, but you get the message! Oh, and this is the easist way of fitting resistors. Make sure you cut the surface back a little on the metal before you solder otherwise it won't stick due to oxidisation (I assume)... roughening it up a bit seems to work :)
