  1. Chaps, I've finally got my 1997 Peugeot 406 LX estate (2.0litre 16v) on the road this weekend, I bought it to keep the wife away from the Corrado and keep the miles down too as I'm approaching 88,000miles on the VR6. Anyway, I've noticed that no-one bats an eyelid while I'm in the Pug, I might as well be invisable! However, I need to find somewhere, or someone that will make me a cool sticker with the following: "My other car is a VW Corrado VR6" Hopefully, someone will be able to help.
  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it hard to get a quick getaway from the lights in a Corrado, especially in the wet. The only shame is that the blatant homosexual will go and tell his shit-eating mates that he 'did' a Corrado off the lights :(
  3. So, as the title might suggest I'm in two minds whether to go ahead and buy such a bulb for my interior light. Would it look awful, or would it be a worthwhile mod that would make my interior look 'cooler'. I'm also intending - after Xmas - to change all my interior switches (electric windows/mirrors, headlights etc) to red. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/_W0QQType2 ... &_osacat=0 By the way, which type of bulb do I require? Cheers ez.
  4. That looks very cool, I didn't even know the switch lit up! I don't think mine lits green at the moment?!
  5. Hi chaps, I've got a slight oil leak from the crank sensor, judging by my limited reseach online, despite these things being a 10" bit of wire with a connector one end and a magnet the other...its about £100! I only need the small bit of black plastic (so I'm told) that seals the magnet bit. Can these be bought seperately from Volkswagen or anywhere else for that matter? Cheers, D.
  6. Hi chaps, So I've replaced the front engine mount today (well, my mate did!) and now I need to replace the rear one, I'm told its more complicated. Any tips? Cheers.
  7. I'm still really keen on doing this, I've just had so many other little things to deal with on the Corrado lately, that cosmetic's have had to come second. There is a scrappy near me with 3 x Corrado's so I'm going to go and pinch all their switches and late-model heater controls (if you can do the late-model heater controls?) The switches look brilliant, I'm going to get them in OEM style red, which I think will contrast the standard green dials illumination. :luvlove:
  8. I went to Volkswagen today and orderd some parts, the top mounts I think I have covered, however I was unsure about the mounts. I took the dude out to the car and showed him where the front mount and rear (gearbox?!) mount is and he printed off a ETKA layout of what looks like the bottom half of my engine bay. There are 3 parts that make up the front mount (no.9 on the printout)about 50 Euros and then the gearbox mount (no.19 on the printout) also about 50 Euros. Does that sound right? I thought these things cost about £150?! :confused4:
  9. I'm a bit of a geek at looking through AutoTrader and pistonheads looking for 2nd cars I'd want to buy, a particular favourite of mine, and one I've always wanted to own is a Alfa GTV 3.0 V6, so imagine my surprise when I see a beautiful one in red and is special edition 'Cup' form. Now if I were buying a used a car I'd want lots of information and photos about the car, however...I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THIS! A fat ginger kid behind the wheel...really put me off :gag:
  10. Dude, the average copper does not roll in such beasts. Believe.
  11. It does strike me that I hear a lot of bitching about the government on here, however did you (as in anyone on CF) vote them in? I certainly know I fucking didn't!
  12. Its a recomendation, however not everyone sticks to it. As long as you've got newish, decent tyres its ok, its a bit of a grey area by all accounts. It only really comes into play if you've had a major accident where you've been driving like a dick (not the the best example to come up with, but hey...I'm tired!) As for the winters, I've been here a while, but last year was nothing like this. The cars I have to drive on a daily basis (i.e. not my own!) seem to handle it fairly well as they are not as powerful and a bit heavier. I've been secretly honing my skills on the skid pan when no-one is about :norty: I've driven in the snow before of course back in the UK, but this is stupid. It can be hard pulling away from a standstill - in the Corrado - but I've kinda 'mastered' that too now. Been using gears to slow down and have been changing gears low in rpm, cadance (sp??) braking, etc. Its no where near as fun. Cheers for the tips chaps.
  13. bump for any response for Audi S2 caliper opinions?
  14. Chaps, this is how I'm rolling at the mo! The weather over here at the mo is mental, it was about 6" of snow yesterday. Took me 30mins to get home the other day, twice as long as per usual and at a push I got to 45kph! When I get up in the morning the handbrake seems to stick on at the rear of the car!! :help: I'm just taking it steady-as, and staying in as higher gear as possible, right? The autobahn's have been shut too. The Toyo T1-R's are fairly new, but I suppose the thing to do is to buy winter wheels and tyres if this is to stay this way for weeks :gag:
  15. I really don't see what all the fuss is about, Shell V-Power Racing 100 costs me £0.48p per litre, its amazing stuff. :norty: Thank god for tax-free petrol. :salute:
  16. I'd stretch to £6k, at a push, and if it included BOTH sets of wheels.
  17. The 'MOT' tester was English, so there was no usual language barrier, and the car passed its roadworthyness test fine, just with the examiner pointing out I needed to change the top mounts, the engine mount(s) I know I need to replace as there is a thud if/whenI smash the gas pedal in 1st gear  KIPVW Whats the deal with a Vibratec mount dude? I've done a quick google search and the ones for a Mk3 Golf VR6 are £150! I don't profess to be knowledgeable about these things, but is it worth buying an aftermarket part? Any idea how much the standard Volkswagen part is? craigowl Cheers for the headsup dude, can't believe how cheap that is. Awesome. Was that at Volkswagen?
  18. So the engine mounts are expensive from VW? About how much? The work itself is being done by some mates of mine, so I don't need to worry about labour costs. What about the top mounts? Are they going to cost bucks?
  19. Hi chaps, Just had my car through its annual MOT-style test and I've been told the car is peachy, however I need to change my top mounts. The examiner told me there was 'too much play' in the top mounts. So...being a mechanical dumbass, that means the top of the suspension that protrudes into the engine bay, right? Well I looked on GSF* for the details of what to ask for when I order the parts, however I'm just confused...as it lists loads of different things! Can anyone clarify this for me? I don't expect someone to know the exact part numbers for a 1995 Corrado VR6, but if I could be given an idea so I don't go in and order random shit, then that'll be really helpful. The same goes for the engine mounts (am going to order the front AND rear...are there any others?!) so, that should just be simple, right? Any idea of costs? * Although we don't have GSF over here we have this http://www.pvautomotive.de/index.php which is basicaly a similiar German-kinda deal, however I was loooking on GSF for an idea what to ask and how muchish it would cost.
  20. The owner subtlely probing interest? Ha! Everytime someone replies to this thread (not often) I get an e-mail notification and my first response is, "No! Surely it can't of sold? It used to be £15,000 months and months ago!" :? So its dropped to £9500 or £8500, then went up to £11,000, now its back down to £9500? Credit crunch price, it'll sell for £7000, at a push, I reckon?
  21. Hi chaps, Just saw this on PH, I was wondering if anyone's ever driven/owned one and how they compare to a Corrado VR6? I've always wanted to own one... :D http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/770465.htm Cheers.
  22. Right, I'll get someone to check for me - hopefully tonight - to see if I've got a mount going/gone in the engine bay. How expensive are these things to replace? I assume replacing a mount underneath the engine is going to cost a few quid
  23. I've recently noticed that when I accelerate hard, really hard, in 1st (maybe even 2nd, I'll have to check) that there is a loud thud/metallic bang...nothing is/has been affected, however after accelerating away in such a fashion when I next brake there is a similar noise, just not as violent. :help: When I brake hard as per normal (emergency or my wife is navigating) there is no noise, when I'm in-gear and I accelerate there is no unusal noises. It just seems to be when I'm accelerating away from a standstill or barely moving. Help chaps...I haven't got a clue what this cold be?!
  24. :censored: :brickwall: :censored: Well, I don't remember the oil change on the Mk2 Golf I used to have being this hard, I didn't have the correct tool to undo the plastic housing where thats contains the oil filter. Not best pleased. Will have to see if I can blag a big ass spanner tomorrow.
